Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience: what do users think?

Tianhe Yang: Learning about our past unlocks a greater understanding of who we are and how we can more effectively navigate the world around us. The Wing Luke Museum enlightened us with compelling storytelling via its detailed exhibits and tour, taking us back in time and offering a slice of life of Asian American immigrants from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Would highly recommend the guided tour as it was educational and immersive thanks to the deep knowledge and genuine passion of the staff.

Abhay Donthi: Excellent museum in the International District! We spent about 3 hours there learning about the history of Asian immigration and culture in the United States and in the Seattle area. Would strongly recommend the free tour - it's offered at 10:30 and 1:30 I believe. Our tour guide, Hana, was super knowledgeable, engaging, and shared a lot of details about Asian history in the area. It was fascinating to learn about how the greater Seattle area has transformed over time with waves of Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino immigration, and how exclusionary legislation has shaped the community over time. Definitely check it out!

Anne Van: I learned so much about the local Asian/American communities! The guide curated our tour to our interests in activism and provided a great amount of information.A gem of local education!

Allen Grimes (Advantage Youth Tennis): Very nice museum with a lot of history. The guide was knowledgeable. Place was hot and stuffyVisited on Weekday Wait time 10–30 min …

Frank Tedesco: A must go. Outstanding presentations of AAPI points of view.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Tamy: Museum has loads of stories on the AAPI history and experiences. My sister and I took the guided tour, and it was definitely worth it. Got the chance to check out the store next door, toured the former hotel, and learned about the hardships endured by the many early immigrants. Han was a great storyteller, knowledgeable and answered many of our group's questions.

Sean Nicely: One of the highlights of our trip to Seattle was a guided tour through the Kong Yick Building with our guide, Tess. We learned so much and felt as though we had time to truly explore a "time capsule" convenience store and hotel. If you have the chance to go on this tour with Tess, take it!

Kevin Line: Amazing experience, you have to take the guided tour for the behind the scenes and deeper understanding of Asian culture and immigration.

Addison Peabody: Incredible museum, well-curated exhibits and an excellent guide. Such an important piece of Seattle history, excited to go back and learn more!

Vania Kurniawati: if during the week, or on weekends outside of the peak dimsum and dinner hours.

Wendy Bunker: This museum had been at the top of my list for a while, was so glad I went when I did. They currently have an exhibit about how the development of I-5 and the stadiums impacted the international district and displaced its citizens. It was a very meticulously researched exhibit and very well put together with some interactive elements. It was fascinating to see how much Seattle has changed with development. There was also a wonderful exhibit about Asian culture and music. The museum admission is very affordable, and includes tours of a time capsule style apartment and store from the original International district. I didn't do the whole museum but do plan to go back. The gift shop was very cute and offered a large selection of books about/written by Asian people both for kids and adults. There was a lot of cultural art and the girl at the counter was very friendly. When you walk into the museum, there is a stunning dragon hanging from the ceiling that deserves admiration. If you are looking to learn more about how important the SID is, please check out the Wing Luke Museum.

Jenny P: Learned so much through the tour of the shop next door and connected "apartments" that are both frozen in time. The exhibits were fun and informative as well. Great place to spend a few hours and get cultured! Also Bruce Lee of course. Inspired to hone in my mind, body, and spirit now.Bought my ticket on site as there was no price difference vs online.

nanipanani: My group of 26 thoroughly enjoyed their tour. Planning was made so easy by Deyland.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure …

The entire organization is very supportive of helping pass on knowledge of sailing to new folks, and is very inclusive of all backgrounds. Learning to sail at CWB has been a springboard to taking an ASA 101 and eventually 103 class, which felt like a breeze after sailing here for over a year. I highly recommend CWB for anyone who sails or wants to learn how to sail - you won't regret it.
