French Immersion School of Washington (FISW): what do users think?

Erick Lerma: , and that the curriculum is in sync with state standards.

olivier Leeman: and are now in kinder and 2nd grades. We love the school and the community. The classes are small so the teachers have a lot of time to spend with each student. Their french is as good as their english. The school is following both french education program and american.

Jessica Burgamy: In addition we want our children to relate to people of different back grounds. Since FISW is attended by children from a variety of countries it exposes them to all sorts of cultures.FISW is well run. They have been around for 15 years and it operates like a well-oiled machine. The school is accredited by both the French system as well as our State run educational system. Each class takes a few field trips a year. They have many after school extra-curricular activities, such as piano, chess, fencing and after school homework. The teachers are always accessible in the morning and after school to touch base on what the kids are learning and how the class is going in general. My daughters have thrived at FISW. We are lucky to have found the school. I highly recommend it.

Jennefer Boyer: in a language that took me decades to learn and I now I have to ask them for help! :

Mercy Perez: Our two children have attended FISW since preschool and have both become fluent in French, even mistaken for being native French speakers on our travels to France. In addition to being a fun and caring environment, the French curriculum challenges them to be confident and curious learners. We feel fortunate to have found the French Immersion School of WA when we started looking at preschool options.

Keely Cofrin Allen: , and various field trips. The small class sizes mean a lot of personal attention. There are also a lot of opportunities for parent involvement in the school. I cannot recommend FISW highly enough.

Kendall A: Our daughter has had a great experience with the school, the teachers and the community. She is in third grade now and has been attending since preschool. She is fluent in French and does very well academically in both languages. We only speak English at home, so I am able to see that she is reading well about grade level in English and she loves to read for pleasure in both languages. Our experience has been that when our daughter had a difficult time early on, the school worked with us to find the best solution for her and her happiness. Now, a few years later she is flourishing, happy and loves school. We also have very positive experiences with the parent community. They are very involved and there are many opportunities to socialize and get to know families from all over the world.

Jana Riggan: but he is now very interested in spelling, writing, word recognition and numbers. He always enjoyed books, but he became very interested in how things were spelled, how to say things in French vs. English and counting and basic addition/subtraction. I am amazed at all the things he learned! The classrooms are bright and the teachers are very engaged. The whole environment feels like a very caring community. We are thrilled he will be attending kindergarten this year and expect that he will become even more excited about learning.

French American School of Puget Sound: what do users think?

Julien Hervet: Both of our kids attended FASPS, the first one from PK to 8th grade, the second one is still in 6th grade. FASPS is not just about bilingual education, it is a multicultural environment where the kids learn to think as global citizens. The harmonized curriculum that is taught in both French and English reflects the highest standards of the French and American educational systems. Ultimately, the students are prepared to thrive in a multicultural world, where they learn to appreciate the beauty of diversity and the power of language. It truly is a pleasure to be part of this vibrant community.

Alvar Jolin: A wonderful team and fantastic school. Absolutely wonderful!

Jonathan Li On Wing: Great teachers!

Adele Ropars: I love this school it is really awesome, i came to Seattle from London and I was really well welcomed. The teachers are really cool and fun, I also love that everyone speaks both languages, it was much easier for my best friend who came here from France.

Adele Clayes: , i learned how to speak and understand english in a year. I'm in 7th grade now and without FASPS, i probably wouldn't be able to speak english as well as i do.

Riley Rock: I went to FASPS from age 2 until 7th grade- and after 7th grade somewhere else, I came right back. That year gave me a chance to see how much academically and socially superior FASPS is to the other schools out there. If I could stay here for high school, I would.

Yoshi Li: I'm a student at FASPS and I love it!!! The teachers here are awesum and the staff and kids here are cool with u no matter ur race! The dances and retreats are really fun! Starting from 4th grade to 8th, students gt to spend a week or 2 traveling to dc, around washington, oregon, costa rica, taiwan and islandwood. I think that FASPS deserves a big two thumbs up! To Jason H. I don't get y u don't think our school is awesome? I think she's friendly. I think it was because it was open house and those things r always stressful. I remember at an open house, I was volunteering and my friends and I were very stressed on what would happen.

Harmony Long: We have been a part of the FASPS community for the last five years. Our oldest is entering the 3rd grade and our middle child is going into his pre-kindergarten this fall. We have been thoroughly impressed with the phenomenal curriculum and the exceptional caliber of the teaching staff. The head of school is engaging and professional. Patricia Blaise-Caves and Anne Derieux – Directors of Admissions and Advancement are both remarkable in their dedication to the students, school and parent community. I highly recommend the school for those families looking for an academically strong, multi-lingual, cultural diverse, conscientious, and technically savvy education.

Juan Vega de Soto: I am a student at this school right now and I find it to be excellent. The teachers there offer something more. They teach you in a way that motivates you and entertains you and is yet teaching you in a way in which you're learning amazingly fast! It's a spectacular school with fantastic kids, all of them studious, some more than others, but none of them are mean, bullys, or vandals. I see just by the level of speech of my my teammates that me and my friend that attend FASPS are at a higher level. I love the school, and it's offered me so much and has still so much to offer me. I truly do love it and I sincerely think that I could not have a better education anywhere else.

Dawna Grand: kids have been at this school for 6 years. great bilingual education and highly skilled staff. excellent leadership!

Kaplan International Languages - Seattle: what do users think?

Dasad 00: Идеальный.

Miguel Angel Escobar Garcia: I studied in kaplan for 5 months, and it is the best experience I have ever lived. Everyone there is so kind, that makes you feel like you were in home. All the teachers are very professionals and the classes were excellent.

ExcelMandarin: what do users think?

Theophilus Ko: and nothing was more effective in getting me up to a comfortable level than this program. This course taught me solid fundamentals that allow me to speak very comfortably to native speakers using everyday conversational language. For example in a typical day I might talk about my opinions on something, how I’m feeling, what I plan to do, etc - and all of this would now be totally fine using mandarin. I also noticed the value of this course kicking in when I did a trip to China and Taiwan

Daniel Crowe: Excel Mandarin is definitely one of the more productive classes out there. I was initially unsure about a class over zoom, but it turned out to be convenient and feel natural - thanks of course to talented and experienced teachers as well. I also was hesitant about the price, but now after finishing Q3 I think it was more than worth it. From meeting West-coast people with similar interests, to the wealth of resources that we get to keep, it feels like a good deal. They know what they are doing with sample classes, because I thought "Why not sit in, what have I got to lose?" but was hooked right away.

Aidan Rosswood: Just finished the third quarter and feel really confident in my Mandarin speaking foundation. It's gonna take a lot more learning to become really good but I now know all the foundations of grammar and speaking. The teachers here are AWESOME and the class is a blast plus it keeps you accountable and on track to keep moving forward. If you want to start learning Mandarin, start here.

Katie Mangan: This class was so amazing! It was hard work but my Chinese improved more then I ever expected. The teachers are amazing, they make class so fun and always around to help and answer questions even outside of class! I highly recommend this class if you want to begin learning but aren't sure where to start!!

Daniel Cook: 3 quarters of class and 7/8ish months later, I'm actually so impressed with how well my classmates and I are able to speak Mandarin. I never thought that I'd be able to learn this much at this speed, but the teachers and curriculum are absolutely outstanding. If I could learn other languages using the exact same classroom format and lesson structure, I'm sure I'd hop on those right away as well. Seriously, 20-30 person classrooms have nothing on this! The teachers are extremely friendly and helpful, and do their best to make sure you are learning effectively. If they had a Q4 class, I would surely sign up for it...

Lauren Khoo: It’s been such a fun, enriching, and effective experience to learn mandarin with ExcelMandarin. I’ve just finished the Fluency series of 3 terms. I’m so impressed with the progress I’ve made in a relatively short time and the enjoyment I get out of every class. The instructors care personally about everyone’s goals and progress and they foster a fun class environment. Also, I really liked the relationships and sense of community I gained with fellow students. EM has been a great part of my year. Between the homework and the classes multiple times a week, it is a time commitment, but it’s worth it if you want to learn!

Melanie Kong: EM's teachers are the best! Learning another language can be really challenging and vulnerable, but the teachers truly care about each student and create such a welcoming, fun, and supportive environment. I just finished Q3, and 8 months with EM has made me feel more confident in Chinese than years of schooling in other languages.

Livvie Lin: , but definitely worth it. Their approach to teaching - focusing on speaking, lots of practice in class, tailored toward what would be most practical for most people - has enabled me to progress faster in learning the language than I would've been able to in other programs. On top of that, my teachers and classmates are funny and enjoyable to spend time with! I'm continuing on to the intermediate conversation class because I'm excited to further improve my speaking fluency and discuss more interesting topics with classmates.

Caleb Lin: were more effective than years of Spanish study through high school. The instructors are uniformly talented and are deeply committed to their students and to the art of language pedagogy. The curriculum is thoughtfully constructed and is concentrated on the most important aspects of oral communication. I managed to handle the coursework while also maintaining a full-time job, and I imagine that if I were able to commit even more of my energy to the classes, my Mandarin would have improved even more. I cannot recommend ExcelMandarin more highly.

Chris LoCasto: I had an awesome experience studying Mandarin at ExcelMandarin. Having just finished up Q3, I'm really happy with the progress I made. All of the homework, articles, and vocabulary tools you get access to provide a solid structure for learning, but the real secret sauce is the instructors! We had Darren and Eco instruct us for Q3 and not only did they explain things really well, they made class a lot of fun to attend. I'm honestly really glad I decided to learn Mandarin here and can't recommend it enough.

Kimiko Medlock: Finished all three quarters of ExcelMandarin, and it was 100% worth it. Would do again. Three things worth mentioning: the low student to teacher ratio makes a big difference, the teachers are very professional and care about your progress, and they offer a huge number of tools to help you learn throughout the courses—for example HackChinese and DuChinese—that are effective. Love this school and would recommend

Donna Lee: Taking the Q3 classes at EM was the obvious choice for me after learning so much with Q2 and the Q3 session did not disappoint. I felt that my speaking and listening improved so much. It was fun being able to have discussions with the others students, using Chinese in complex sentence structures. The curriculum is well organized and the teachers are amazing. I felt that the individual feedback for the homework and quizzes were so helpful and when I had questions, they always responded so quickly and thoroughly. The Q3 classes were great and definitely pushed my fluency to a higher level.

Nicholas Walls: I completed Q1-Q3 with Excel Mandarin in 2022. This was a great learning experience, and I left the class feeling empowered to speak Mandarin in real world scenarios and ready to continue my learning. The classes ultimately focused on expressing thoughts and feelings, and opinions on everyday work, life, and hobbies. The teachers were really great, and I always felt supported in learning at my own pace, with a good push as well!

Gabriela Claravall: After finishing three quarters at ExcelMandarin, I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've made. Q3 has given me the knowledge and tools to discuss my opinions and ideas. I think that all the teachers are very kind and amazing. They really care about the students learning, and I even got to meet some teachers from ExcelMandarin in person which was really nice, and felt very personable. The teachers in Excel Mandarin are all so passionate about students learning and I’m really thankful that I joined ExcelMandarin. I’m happy for the teachers I met in ExcelMandarin. I hope to keep in contact with the EM community.

Mary Kathryn: I've had such an amazing experience with Excel Mandarin! The teachers are so helpful and patient, the curriculum is aimed towards conversation and expression which I love, and the workload is challenging in a way that pushes you forward! I always enjoyed classes with my awesome teachers and classmates. I've just completed Q3 with Excel Mandarin and even though extra business in life kept me from focusing on it as much as I would have liked, I feel excited and well-prepared for continuing on in improving and growing in my Mandarin skills. I've tried to learn with other self-teaching methods in the past, but never thought fluency would be possible for me until these classes! So grateful for this school!

Ted Meyer: I joined excel mandarin in september 2021 because my girlfriends family doesn't speak english, and I had no way to communicate with them. I was super impressed with the teachers and curriculum, and having a 1:4 teacher:student ratio made getting in-class speaking time actually possible, and even fun. I finished all three terms of classes and feel so much more confident now when speaking to my girlfriend's family!

Laima Liljeberga: I couldn't have asked for a better place to study Mandarin! I can't believe how far I've got through these three quarters, myself a few years ago probably wouldn't have believed that I would be speaking/understanding so well in such a short time. The time and money investment is definitely worth it. The classes not only put the learned grammar into practice but are very fun and entertaining therefore make the learning process very enjoyable!

Learning Croissant: what do users think?

Fred Cockfield: Veronique is a wonderful teacher and molds her lessons around what you want to learn. I also learned about French culture and customs which is very useful since I will be traveling to France. She has a cozy little studio and a friendly open manner which helps you to open up and converse in French. If you want to learn or brush up on your French, this is the place to go!

Marie-Renee Arend: . It was great that she made it possible for us to study together and both learn. Merci, Veronique!

Duane Campbell: I’ve been studying French with Learning Croissant for awhile now. My French has definitely gotten better. Véronique has really helped me improve my accent as well as teaching me lots of grammar. Hopefully I’ll be able to return to France one day!

She helped me improve not only my understanding of the French language but also greatly improved my speaking and writing. She keeps lessons entertaining and keeps you excited to learn. I highly recommend Veronique as a French tutor and teacher.

Svetlana Rowell: The Learning Croissant is a great place for people of all ages to come and learn French. Véronique Boulangeat's classes are always fun and my daughter and I have been able to make lots of progress in under a year. Veronique teaches in an easy to comprehend manner and gives us many opportunities to practice our speaking and writing skills. Her teaching expertise extends out from the physical classroom and to our online meetings, and we have both been able to adapt to online learning without any fallback. If you are looking for an enjoyable and fun learning experience, Véronique does a wonderful job at blending useful information with interesting activities.

Ana Arzoumanian: About 6 months after I had started taking French lessons with Veronique, I spent 5 weeks in the south of France by myself and I was capable of communicating decently well. I was pleasantly surprised because I knew very little French prior to our lessons! I continue to enjoy our lessons both in person and online to improve my written French. She explains things very well, is patient and kind. She is a great teacher!

Richard Winn: and it is working out really well.. its a fun constructive thing we do together and we can do it over Zoom while we're all working from home.

Karen Black: Véronique is an amazing French teacher. She is so patient and encouraging and has even managed to make learning fun. I leave every lesson energized and ready for more! I highly recommend Learning Croissant.

FrogLegs Cooking School: what do users think?

Mary Albl: My niece and I did the Cookie Exchange Kid/Adult Class at the UVillage and it was so much fun. Very interactive, unique, and the instructor couldn't have been more friendly. She took the time to really explain everything but also let the kids be kids. We made three different kinds of cookies -- best way to start off the winter break.

Jordan Maughan: Best cookies I’ve had in a long time

Reed Sorensen: We took a cooking class the day before Thanksgiving so we could bring sides to the festivities. Heather was a pleasure to spend two hours with and we definitely benefited from her experience cooking for high-end restaurants. Highly recommended.

D M: Brought the little one here for cooking class. DROP OFF! He LOVED it. Had fun, said teacher was nice, and wants to come back. He was sent home with a box of some of the best scones I've ever had.

Steven Moos: Breast place for a7 year old birthday party! Thanks Ms. Kit Kat!

Chris W.: Cute little spot. Cool concept with the baking classes, not super common around here. Hope the cooking class extension are worth the investment. Had the pumpkin sweet butter cookie, was bomb..a little sugary. Nice front associate.

Garrett N.: Had a great time doing the pizza kit cooking class with FrogLegs! We made pizza dough from scratch, and while we waiting for the dough to rest, we decorated cookies also provided in the kit! Good times, and everything came out great. 👍

The Galaxy: The cookies they have there are the best I've ever had! Especially the s'mores, those are my faves! Love it!

Christopher Morris-Lent: FrogLegs rules

Sandra Anderson: wear gloves. Seriously!!

Craig Van Doorn Sr: Great place. Excellent food and staff

Lucas Duffey: Really good cookies - s'mores, brown butter, and chocolate chip were both excellent. Smores was out favorite.

Le Pichet: what do users think?

Tiffany Jorgensen: I've been coming here for around twenty years. The food is always consistent and lovely. The service goes above and beyond. Granted this was about a decade ago, but one time my child left their bag and they held onto it till or next visit. Which was several weeks later. They have always done a great job, even when it's busy or the guest is less than stellar. So glad you guys didn't close. Thanks for everything. Your hard work is noticed and appreciated!

Hak Williams: What a gem. I believe this was Anthony Bourdain's favorite restaurant in Seattle. So French and simple and unassuming. If you love chocolate you can't leave Seattle without trying their hot chocolate. It's the most chocolate and heavy cream you can combine into one sip. You can go for a light lunch or a late breakfast or an afternoon coffee and dessert, or you can go for dinner. The whole chicken for two looks like a smart bed, and the fish is always a good idea. The charcuterie and cheese is also a winner. The steak frites was very good, but it doesn't beat an American Steakhouse kind of steak if that's what you are into. The wine by the glass is 4 or $5 more affordable than other nearby restaurants. In France this would be considered a bistro, which is on the more casual end of the spectrum. But there may be no exact equivalent to France because this place serves more than one function. It's a cafe, a bar, and a bistro. If you're in the area and need a little pick me up you can go in just for a hot chocolate or a coffee. Their espresso service is top notch. I was having dinner there late last night and a couple came in and just ordered a whiskey and a hot chocolate as their nightcap.

Michael Cook: First and foremost a restaurants priority is to serve good food, and this place made up for a multitude of sins by having really amazing, tasty, well prepared/seasoned food that is being done by a seriously competent back of house staff. I had the steak frites, and it was one of the best steaks I’ve had, and was perfectly cooked rare to my preference. The chicken tartine was beautiful, my companion had the fish of the day and it was incredibly seasoned and sauced. Beautiful food. The service though was awful, we weren’t greeted for about 10 minutes in a tiny restaurant, all the staff looked at us but didn’t say anything. We were forgotten about a bit, the staff seemed more interested hanging out with the lush at the bar who seemed to be taking all the air out of the room.We asked for our bill, the server dropped it off, changed her clothes and left. We then waited half an hour to pay, and finally were acknowledged and told we had to give our cards to them, as if we should've known. The 20% automatic gratuity is a flaw, theres no motivation for the server to love the table and go the extra mile, they just phone it in. The way it’s put on the menu is that the customer is paying for their benefits and commission, and if we feel the service isn’t up to 20% it’s up to the customer to ask to have it removed. That’s just bad business and an unnecessary duty to put onto the customer. But the food was amazing, and that’s what’s important, and what saved the whole experience
