Emergency Room at UW Medical Center - Northwest | Seattle: what do users think?

Katarina Gariando: I came here, because my boyfriend was hit by a car on his bike. From start to finish, the staff were very friendly and assuring during the extremely stressful experience. Once they found out he hit his head, they did their best to get him seen by a doctor as quickly as possible. The whole process did take a couple of hours, but I think that's almost to be expected while in the ER. The hospital was extremely busy so we were very appreciative for the care we received.

Michael Powter: Came in to emergency early on Dec 23 with a cracked hip, the worst pain ever in my life. I was lucky to have surgery soon after arrival. I spent the 24th, 25th, 26th and came home on the 27th. That was my whole Christmas. So many people helped me and everyone was an angel, we spent our 2023 Christmas together and I felt very well cared for, thank you to everyone at NW for their service and hard work. I felt like we were all on a great team together.

David ABBOOD: Greetings to the Supervisor, Emergency Department, for facilitating the translation process and supervising my health condition. I am grateful to him.And also grateful Nursing Julia , And also grateful Nursing Fakebba CAlso, Grateful Nursing Ayu was a wonderful person, his way of talking and his help, I am grateful to youI am grateful to everyone who helped me with my pain and treatment of my pain. Thank you and many. There are those who helped me, but unfortunately I did not receive all the names. Thank you also to those who bothered me at the time when I was suffering from pains. There is a doctor, unfortunately, who told me that I will do the operation for you, but the translator will be on the video route, and I cannot. Because of his stuttering, he said, “I cannot bring you a translator. Someone. I am looking for other doctors.” And I said, “I will certainly do that.” I am sorry. I will not thank you. I only thank those who helped me in my ordeal.

heather fahsholtz: The reviews had me worried I'd be there for friggin ever and would receive sht treatment. But it was actually the opposite! I have a tendency to avoid hospitals and doctors because of a whole array of things but last night I went because it was time to go! Oy!Anyways, they were quick to triage, they ran all the tests while I was waiting to speed the process, the physician was from the lgbtq+ community which felt so safe and like the agency as a whole is inclusive and welcoming 🙏🏼. AND the physician and nurses heard me when I told them what I needed and what I was feeling. They ran extra tests to be sure but they were like "yup, let's get you what you need!"I was there for 5 hours in the night but that wasn't through anyone's fault, the staff were phenomenal and so respectful and kind. There was just another patient in really rough shape that took a majority of their time, so understandable.I do recommend yall getting some of them dimmer strip lights to attach to the walls, because them overhead lights are KILLER for your overnight patients or any migraine patients. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💕Thank you!!

Svet Stefanov: I don't understand why the rating of this facility has so few stars. My personal experience was amazing, well above any expectations! The staff was great, knowledgeable nurses and doctors, caring personel form the gate to the last person we saw. The process was quick, well organized and straight forward. I believe that this facility deserves a 5 star rating!

Brieanne H: I just want to thank the doctor who saw my son here. It was because of you that we got my son to Children's and they found a cancerous tumor. If it wasn't for you we could have missed it.Thank you for taking everything seriously and really taking the time out to examine him.

Lacey Lancaster: but that’s more of a testament to our medical system rather than this hospital. Thank you UW ER!

Dovahkiin: The nurses and doctors were excellent. I have been admitted 5 times during my bone marrow transplant process. They took very good care of me each time.

Dave Gunning: Long night at UW ER. Most of the night I seemed to be ignored until nurse EL came on duty. Her service and attention to detail was awesome.Dave

Austin Hodges: They're GI team saved my life. Thank you for all the hard work you do!

Victor Towler: Y'all are smart. Thanks for everything!

Kendra T: I was in so much pain and did not realize I almost died. Thanks to Erin in the ER and the other Healthcare workers who helped me I am in recovery now and I am blessed to be alive. I just want them to know how thankful I am to all the hospital staff. Doctors, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses I appreciate all you did to save my life and make me feel comfortable in my time of need. I appreciate you all.

Susanna Wu: Went in expecting long wait but surprisingly, got everything done in 3 hours which was still reasonable given the number of tests i needed. The nurses and the doctors were all super professional.

Gentry Lange: This is my favorite crew in Seattle for Emergency Rooms. I think they've likely saved my life this past few days.As to the people complaining about "waiting" in an "emergency room?" Have you ever been to an emergency room in your life? The crew here puts up with so much abuse it's ridiculous. And it seems that all the fentanyl smokers love to stumble here for their daily entitled rants. So while somewhat entertaining, don't be surprised. I figure the 1 star reviews are from these entitled junkies who deserve far, far less patience than they receive.I'd go Tyson on these freaks before my first shift was out, if I wasn't aware that I just don't have it in me to put up with endless abuse from junkies, criminals, alcoholics and the obvious mentally ill.

Thomas Nguyen: Had to get my swollen finger x-rayed and drained. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. Service was exactly what I expected and more. One of the male staff there that was responsible for draining my finger was extremely patient and kind. The numbing medicine wasn’t seeming to work and he gave me all the time I needed as well as giving me hi chew candy. I’m really impressed with how they were running things like a well oiled machine.

Toyosi OGUNBANWO: I had to go to Swedish first thing on a Monday morning as I was in so much pain over the weekend. My experience was superb. The nurses were so kind. The doctor and resident who attended to me were patient and understanding. I arrived at 5am and got triaged within 30 minutes. However, I didn’t see a doctor until about 2 hours later which is perfectly understandable as I was not in a life or death situation. The nurses are working so hard here and I’m truly thankful for their patience and kindness especially Nurse Patty who made me laugh despite my pain levels. Dr Fatema was so kind and took time to understand my symptoms and get in touch with my obgyn to schedule another appointment post ER for me.I understand that ER visits can be really stressful but you must also remember that everyone here is working so hard so you must also treat them with kindness. I did notice a few unkind and unruly patients which could easily be attributed to their pains and symptoms. But despite all that, the nurses were smiling all through. I am so glad I didn’t let the bad reviews make me go all the way to Overlake. Swedish First Hill is home!!

Sarah Powers: Wonderful experience here, was seen immediately and given great care in a timely manner.

Jen Almjeld: We were in from out of town and the staff was wonderful. We were in and out in two hours and got great care

Ronja Wurz: I felt well cared for and everyone was super nice. I was cold so I got 3 blankets and one nurse even looked around to find my husband.I really appreciated all of it. Thank you so much!!

Laurie Gates: I have to take my sister there every three to four months. Everyone is very caring and professional.

Charlie Mosiman: Efficient as usual

Dom Fetherston: . Thank you to the staff who work hard AND who include warmth, good communication and healing in their skill sets.

Richard Gori: My wife had a cervical fusion ayUWMC and I have to say she was and is being treated fabulously. The support is amazing from the CNA, RN, PT, OT and Social Services. This is by far her best hospital experience.

Olivia Szabo: I had an excellent experience in the ER here. The staff did their best to lighten the mood and provided "little comforts" that made a difference - even though I could tell they were slammed. Every staff member I interacted with was very kind and patient. Dare I say a "pleasant" trip to the ER.

Virginia Mason Hospital and Seattle Medical Center: what do users think?

Veronika Gonzales: Have been coming to this Hospital for ever and never had any problems at all, we must understand that doctors and nurses are needed globally and if you don’t find out for your self , do not believe other people, maybe they had an attitude and got the same back at them. Is all about understanding that being Angel is not that easy when is a lot that sometimes don’t work.Probably 30 years and haven’t had a bad experience on the contrary good service.

Steve Sowell: The staff at Virginia Mason is by far the best service I've ever received from a hospital. From the Friendly staff during check -in, to the nurses and doctors. Was recommended by a coworker to check them out, and I'm so glad I did.

emanuel richardson: I just had my left hip replaced with Dr Clabeaux Jonathan, great surgeon, totally successful, I’m recommending him for any orthopedic procedures. This was my second surgery with him. I have two new hips within 2 years period. Everything from beginning to the end was very smooth at Virginia Hospital. Thank you doctor for helping me walking normal again with no pain.

Ryan Handler: is an absolutely amazing human being!! Very friendly and kind, a very genuine person who deserves a shoutout for simply being a good person. You guys had great service elsewhere as well, but I wanna give a special shoutout to her for sure!!

Steve Gratteau: Good directions to get around. Love the maze!

Destiny DeWall: because there was hardly any people in the waiting room and it only took about 30 mins for me to be seen. I was having severe abdominal pain and couldn’t keep any fluids down so I spent a few hours laying in an exam room bed with an IV of fluids and medicine. The staff was attentive and let me sleep for a little bit since I hadn’t slept in a couple days.

Uruk Black: The lead nurse was very judgemental in his manner. I didn't feel welcome be In HIS ER,. ,,, screw this er

Damon Inman: Great care.

Maria Bondari: Check it out

Alan Elmgren: were very gracious and mindful of that and treated me with the utmost dignity and respect.Harborview gets a bad rap because it can become a zoo. My experience was anything but. Yes, the doctor and nurses were called away a couple of times, but it's an emergency department at a busy hospital in downtown Seattle. Be patient and be respectful and you will receive excellent care.Thank you, Harborview emergency department, for the excellent care.

Jeff Boggs: very nice hospital!

Betty Jacobsen: They took excellent care of me

Lisa Bernhagen: I was seen right away. Everyone was as nice and professional. They helped me with my cut.

Rane Cook: One of the Best Hospitals around

Jake Miller: This has been the best experience I've had in an ER or hospital hands down. They got me in quickly and were really empathetic, concerned, patient and kind. Everyone was really professional and helpful. They were in depth with the diagnosis and everyone seemed to be in a pleasant mood.

Benjamin Kordash (Ben): You will be triaged within minutes upon arrival. Depending on how the on-duty triage RN categorizes your condition, you may be in for quite a long wait. This is the only Level 1 trauma center within a great radius, which means it is equipped and staffed to handle the most serious and complex injuries. HMC is also a burn center, one of a select few in the USA to be certified by the American Burn Association. Overseen by University of Washington Medicine.

Rachiel Black: Courteous, knowledgeable, and respectful staff and Medical personnel

Sylvia McCarty: I had a good experience here. I arrived at 8 am on Saturday morning. There were three people ahead of me. I saw a doctor within 30 minutes. All staff were kind and professional. My prescription was ready for me when I got to my pharmacy.

Carol Welch: Went the Friday before a long Xmas weekend. Virtually no wait and doctor was strong advocate for me to get in later that day to see a specialist for my problem, which needed attention. Also followed up by phone later.

Dominique Sims: I am extremely grateful for the care I received. I came in with a serious issue, chest pain, and was triaged appropriately and treated throughly. I can not thank the nursing and physician staff enough for their attention to detail, genuine concern, and excellent care.

Maggie Elentukh: The only place I’d ever bring my 3 kids.Amazing care here.

LivingLifeAsTrin: I don’t usually post reviews but this is the best hospital visit I’ve ever had at such a traumatic time. The nurses were absolutely incredible with such compassion throughout the entire visit. The doctors were both knowledgeable and considerate. They keep you informed throughout the entire day. I couldn’t be more grateful for everything they helped me with when it came to my daughter’s critical condition. We love you!!

Ann Crowell: I think we had a unicorn experience. It was a Saturday around 1pm and the place was completely empty so we were taken right back, triaged, then put in a room. All the nurses were friendly and helpful. My daughter had a tooth injury and two dentists were called to come in from home, which wasn't too long of a wait. We had called ahead and spoken with someone about the injury and they confirmed we should come in. Overall an amazing experience for visiting an ER. The place is also clean and modern. Definitely go to the ER if your child has a tooth injury because it could also be a serious head injury, which I wasn't even considering.

Claudia Sanderson: We end up in the ED a few times a year with a kiddo with complications/symptoms from a genetic disorder and Seattle Children's always does a great job. Sometimes depending on how many patients they're caring for, the wait can be long but sometimes not. We know they have to triage patient severity and sometimes we are on the less severe end. In the end, we always feel like we are treated well and we really appreciate the kind, caring culture that's expected there.

ANA TERUYA: We had a good experience with the staff. The only thing to bring it up…they don’t have a changing place for babies, yes, a children’s hospital with no changing table. It definitely needs to be addressed.

Jaxson Davis: and he put a cover over the door and asked the nurse outside to block the window while we did my EKG.

Ryan Parris: Best ER experience I've ever had. My little 2 year old Sammy fell and cut her eyebrow pretty bad I passed other hospitals to get to Children's because the EMT techs I called to my house recommended it. From check in to when we were walking out of the door it was great. My little girl actually had a blast if you can imagine that! Even when they wrapped her up like a burrito so they could clean the cut and put the super glue stuff and the tape to hold it together she was smiling because they were so good with her. I'll always drive a little farther unless its life or death within minutes if my kids ever have to go to the ER. Best staff ever. Thanks again!

Dreydo: After being denied urgent care at two other locations, we were really fortunate to get checked in and admitted very quickly with our 7 month old who was having breathing problems. All the hospital staff from the front desk to senior doctors were efficient, polite, and very helpful with addressing our concerns and providing treatment to a fussy/struggling child. Can't thank you enough!

Alycia Stallard: I recently was inpatient due to illness. And I am impressed! It has taken me 2 years to find excellent medical care; but I found it here. With such emphasis on the employees elsewhere I felt unheard and was giving up. I even considered relocating my family!Caring, compassion and kindness are on tap here. No one dismissed my pain. No one demeaned my concerns. Finally! Excellent health care! Doctors who listened and took time to explain. Nurses with smiles. Employees working Together for Me!!!This is the place. This is My place. I've found my medical home!

Mirta Gonzalez: As a nurse myself, I appreciated the staff’s professionalism and kindness. The nurses were top notch and the doctors very compassionate and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

Mike West: My grandfather was just in and unfortunately passed away. I just wanted to say that all of the staff were really respectful and helpful during the whole time. They made sure that we all had a chair and offered us all watter and juice. They didn't rush us and allowed us to spend as much time with him that we wanted to.

Amy Kirk: and they were amazing, kind and shared info with him. Dr. Robinson and Dr. Ryan both managed my neuro needs including a shunt placement 3 weeks

Exploring Ginger: The staff here has been amazing. You ask questions and they answer them. Even the food courts food is delicious. Had their fish and wasn’t dried and was tasty, I enjoy the salad bar. Their coffee is literally an explosion of heat and will stay hot for awhile!! My only complaint is the maze to get to certain parts of it trying to figure out which takes what. Their main rooms make it feel like death. Needs to be brighten up a bit. Overall it is an amazing hospital.

Tammy Ray: Been a patient with Virginia Mason since1969 until present date. All of my team of its are awesome.

Victor K. Panda: Updating a star for better service lately. It always is my favorite healthcare center. I visit often to get food or gifts. They need to have more eyecare because appointments are far between.

Jude Kruger: Beautiful and very clean atmosphere. Took a friend there today. The doctor was kind and compassionate and scheduled her surgery for tomorrow. From check- in to EKG, lab work and setting up her surgery, all was handled by the best of people all around. The only draw back is having to drive so far to get there, coming from Federal Way. Got to say it's not the easiest place to find either unless you use GPS. It's a super big hospital so be sure to find out the name of the parking garage you need to park in and the location.

Anak ti Abroad: great hospital

Rhonda Rodgers: Love everyone there

J DaVault: Thank God. Excellent care so far.

Ike Jockers: No one wants to be here. Everyone who walks in is in pain, uncomfortable and needs help. I was one of those people. I had been dealing with a sickness for over a week and had zero answers, I was desperate. My call for help was answered from the amazing nursing staff and one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. Even the front desk staff was helpful and caring! I truly hope I never have to go back here but I’m glad there is such a good care facility in my backyard. I was treated by Doctor Parisot which may have been the most comforting and helpful doctor I have ever seen. I don’t recall my nurses names but they all deserve a shout out!!

Alexander Westra: Really caring staff and I was seen very quickly. Have been to a few different ERs and this was definitely the most pleasant

John Mark Ruhl: Outstanding professional service from everyone on the staff in the ER at Swedish-Cherry Hill. Friendly too with careful, comprehensible explanations of procedures and tests at every stage. Very impressive institution. I’m a visitor from Pennsylvania; Seattle residents are lucky to have such a fine hospital near at hand.

Jessica Obrien: Highly recommend this hospital! Not only did they save a loved one they were empathetic, had great bed some manor towards the patient and the family. They also continued to treat after discharged from facility. The doctors and nurses were more than willing to answer questions and give options during the most difficult time in my life so far. Thank you to the great staff of Harborview!

Nora Cisneros: After years of searching for an answer, my symptoms were here, the best hospital, the best care and the best Medical staff I have dealt with in years. Thanks to all the staff at this hospital, I am alive now and managing my medical situation in the best way with the attention and follow-up of their doctors, who are respectful, compassionate, kind and very professional.

ROBIN SUTTON: They were Absolutely Amazing!! EVERYONE!!!!

Jenn Castro “Pepper Kan” Camacho: The hospital and staff were fantastic! Everything you would want in healthcare providers. The only problem was parking! This is a huge issue. Was circling the parking structures for 1 whole hour before there was an open slot... And the parking garage had actual traffic! It was horrible. The worst part..that time you spend LOOKING for parking... You have to pay for that, too!

Kay Staffenhagen: My grandson has been at Harborview since 3/26 due to a horrible car accident. The night of the accident on 3/24, he had coded blue but was almost instantly revived. Had so many internal injuries, Providence on Colby in Everett stated the prognosis was not good. They kept him alive and transferred him to Harborview. After 8 surgeries, the compassionate care and amazing doctors and nurses he is still with us today. He has a long way to go, but he is healing. Thank you so much to all at Harborview. He wouldn't be here without you.

Peter Hames: I recently visited my brother in the ICU. I want to say thank you for all the great care and communication from all the medical team that cared for him. My family felt the compassion from each and everyone involved in his care.Thank you from the bottom of my Heart!
