Seattle Home Maternity Service: what do users think?

Addy: Seattle Home Maternity cared for my family through most of 2022. The level of care and thought I received throughout my pregnancy maybe the most respectful medical care I have ever received. The communication and consent through every step of the pregnancy was so beautiful to be a part of. All the staff at SHM were fantastic and truly care about their families. They honored my wishes for my birth and gave me realistic options during labor, even coming beside as I needed to transfer out of their care mid-labor. I am so grateful for the way they approach pregnancy, labor and childbirth as I always felt their warmth, guidance and compassion.

Anna Giulia: I had a great experience of pre-natal, birth and post partum care with Heather. The whole team is very welcoming, respectful and evidence-based. My son was born on February 6th in the birth center and everything was amazing. I highly recommend this place. Thanks for everything, Heather, Brooks and Suzanne 💕

Gillian Berkey: I loved working with Heather and Brooks. I felt so cared for during all my pre-natal appointments. After my water broke, I wasn't sure if I was dilated enough to head to the birth center, so Heather came to my house at 2:30am to check me! TALK ABOUT CARE! Can't wait to work with them again!

Rachel Drake: Heather and Brooks are amazing midwives and such a gem for the Seattle birthing community. I had a beautiful home birth attended by Brooks in December 2023, but I also saw Heather throughout my pregnancy. They work seamlessly together and have a similar style, which is intuitive, data-based, respectful, and very warm and loving. One of the highlights of my birth was having my 4 year old son present, and they were very supportive and helpful in making this happen, including a book recommendation that we read so often that my son was quoting it during my labor. They listened to my wishes and did everything in their power to give me exactly the birth I wanted. One example was to have a quiet/dark room, and I thought it was so kind when Brooks used a head lamp for my exam after birth rather than turning on the overhead lights. As a bonus, logistics were all easy, too. The portal was great for communications, scheduling appointments with Suzanne was easy, there are dedicated parking spots, and appointments were on time.Anyone would be lucky to be in the care of the midwives at Seattle home maternity. I couldn’t recommend them more!

Alanna Overmyer: reason to get pregnant a 3rd time ;

Kelly Sullivan: was the best care I have ever received for anything, ever, period. My first experience with SHM was about 8 years ago

Alexander Sonntag: My wife enjoyed the attention here. We were really happy. Thank you Team!

Gabrielle Brookshire: 10/10 recommend the team at Seattle home maternity. I felt so safe and cared for through my whole pregnancy. I love the way they involved my partner and took time to answer all our questions. As first time parents they walked with us every step of the way. Ultimately we needed to transfer, and my baby was delivered via cesarean section. Brookes worked with me through all of my early labor and was by my side for all of the transfer process. And the day I came home from the hospital. Heather was right back with me at my home ensuring me and my baby were adjusting. Although things didn’t go the way we had originally planned. The thoughtful care and counseling of the Seattle Home maternity team allowed me to feel truly empowered for all of my pregnancy birth and recovery.

Morgan Rilling: ! They showed up for us in all the ways we’d hoped. Their level of knowledge about the physiology of pregnancy/birth/postpartum, their expertise, and calming presence helped me feel safe and enjoy my pregnancy. They are incredibly thorough in their practice and always give recommendations based on what’s in the best interest of mom and baby.Throughout the entire process they were so generous with time to answer all of our questions and provide us with valuable information/resources. We felt supported, safe, prepared, informed, and cared about from start to finish. This is the best healthcare and communication I’ve ever received. Office manager Suzanne was wonderful to work with around the many logistics of our appointments as well! Seattle Home Maternity, THANK YOU for helping us welcome our son into the world! We are forever grateful. ❤️

Kurt Schewe: My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Seattle Home Maternity! Heather & Brooks practice with attention for detail and safety, while supporting parents in a calm, encouraging way. Our questions were always welcomed and they shared a lot of educational resources with us to help us understand the process and feel prepared. Thank you for the thorough and thoughtful care you provided our family!

Elizabeth Schaff: I had such a positive experience here. Both of the midwives treated me with so much care and respect throughout my entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. I felt like I could ask any question no matter how insignificant and it would be met with a sincere and thoughtful answer. I looked forward to each appointment and am truly sad that I am done with my time here! As a first-time mom I was apprehensive about a home birth, but was able to have a successful birth at home despite a long and difficult labor. Brooks attended my birth and was extremely calm and supportive during the process, working very well with my doula. Unmedicated birth is not for everyone but I would recommend this place to anyone considering it!

Karan Verma: This review is one year late, because I just couldn’t find the right words to write the most perfect review for this wonderful organization, which helped deliver our baby girl Noelani, who has given us so much joy. Heather, Katherine, and Brooks are incredible people and professionals that we had the good fortune to worth with, they are patient, sensitive, caring, and appropriately assertive to ensure the birth journey and final process are successfully completed. Heather oversaw the birth of our baby daughter, and all though the birth journey and labor can be a bit nerve racking, we couldn’t have felt more comfortable with the experience and expertise that Heather bought to the entire process. The biggest testimony is that we are pregnant again, and headed straight back to SHM to help deliver our second baby.

Kira Fickenscher: I had the birth and postpartum experience of my dreams here. The two midwives at SHM, Heather and Katherine, are gentle, compassionate, skilled, and experienced. They operate as a team - when you meet with one it's like you've met with both, because they are so communicative and detail-oriented. Midwives work tiring hours, and yet when you meet with them, they make you feel like you're their only patient. I loved my quiet, private birth at the Columbia City birth center. Heather radiated confidence and competence and I felt safe and in control. Afterward, my newborn received all the same care and testing as at a hospital, but in gentle, unobtrusive home visits. They took such good care of me and I could not be more grateful.

Liz Gmail: I can't say enough good things about these women. They are pro's at what they do, they work well as a team. They are compassionate, skilled, intelligent, and caring human beings. They are impressive. They go beyond the words of a midwife for me. Being pregnant during CV was emotionally difficult, and these ladies were so supportive and a strong force for me through my whole experience.I'm writing this review after my home birth. They were incredible, words can't express how grateful we are for the tremendous care during my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. I couldn't be more pleased, they will always hold a place in our hearts. Thank you Katherine and Heather for being such rockstars and giving woman during this time such great care. 3

Audrey Wallis: They are the best birth team. They’ve been respectful of my wishes throughout the process. They will advocate for you to have the kind of birth you want. I had a complication free home birth attended by their highly trained and qualified staff. It was a positive experience beginning to end. They are very balanced between a holistic approach and more active management when the situation calls for it. Prior to this pregnancy I had a miscarriage and the midwives at this practice were very compassionate, and made me feel supported and listened to. No regrets going with them, it was definitely the right call.

Brittany Newell: Just had my final visit with SHM and I am sad to leave their outstanding care. The midwives are deeply knowledgable on all things pregnancy and birth, and they are exceptional educators. The environment is professional while also feeling like a big welcoming family. All questions and concerns of mine throughout pregnancy were answered promptly and thoroughly and with so much information provided during our in person visits and our communication via the online portal. We never had to wait to be seen for appointments as is common with traditional doctors offices, and the organization and clinic itself are very warm and welcoming. The birth center is cozy and comfortable, and the tub was an excellent perk of delivering there. These are some of the most hard working and passionate women I know, and I highly recommend SHM to any woman interested in pursuing an out of hospital birth.

Saskia Potter: if I needed help in any way. I felt like I was enabled to have the birth experience I really wanted to have with the very professional and kind support of the midwives of SHMS. I HIGHLY recommend them!!

Victoria Vinson-Jacobs: Deeply personal support throughout pregnancy and delivery. I feel so lucky to have had my first baby with these exceptional practitioners.

Jami Bess: I had an amazing birth experience here with a different group of midwives many years ago. For birth center purposes alone, the space was comfortable and beautiful and welcoming for my family as we were laboring and bringing our new one into the world. Can't recommend them enough!

Swedish Birth Center: what do users think?

Jessica Perilman: I highly recommend this facility! I had a scary labor due to a complete tie in the umbilical cord but every nurse and doctor moved quickly and calmly. They kept me informed and took amazing care of me and my baby. From labor to recovery we were cared for perfectly. I will only deliver future children here.

Rachel Patterson: were all coordinated together so I wasn't disturbed for blocks of three hours. This is just one example of how my time here was so much better than at Northwest. Love the nurses and doctors. Felt listened to and well taken care of. The rooms are spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. Would 100% recommend Swedish over Northwest.

Jessica Roush: and it was a great experience. Was scheduled for induction and Dr Zhou and nurse Sophie were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and had a calming presence. The wing for C sections and scheduled inductions was in general pretty quiet and chill and seemed like the nurses and docs could take their time on us while we were there. As of Fall ‘22, Covid protocol still in place but more lax than peak-pandemic

Isabella Goodwin: I had a pretty long stay at Swedish during my pregnancy & delivery and I have nothing but love for these nurses and doctors. From antepartum, l&d, post partum, and now the NICU we have had the BEST care. Every nurse I had was amazing, they genuinely care. During a very difficult and stressful time in my life, I’ll always remember how these people only made it better and not worse. So thankful for the entire Swedish team

Angelee J: . Emily, Megan, Lisa were truly wonderful. Emily Hazan, midwife, and nurses who were present during delivery, Leah, Gretchen, Kelsey, and Natalie were amazing, compassionate, and kind people and I had a great birthing experience. It took a big turn for the worst when I was handed off to Joanna Gacek, RN, who was there for the night shift. It was a nightmare with her putting a lot of pressure with her long check-lists. She also took nearly an hour after I tried multiple attempts to come help me. She also wouldn't listen and wouldn't even help me get warmer clothing for my baby. Instead, she went on tirades about glycemic control and hypoglycemia. It really was 7 hours of hell. She also told me that she would be back the following night.I narrated my awful experience to Katie Bohner, who informed me that Joanna wouldn't be back and another nurse would come in to check the following night. Katie took care of me during the day while I was there. Katie gave great care and was professional. She really listened and tailored her care to my needs. Others nurse practitioners who came in to check baby were great too.

Casey Rasmussen: and the random weird reviews people write that feel pretty far from reality.

vero M.: Thank you for this amazing and beautiful experience!!The care and attention given to my son and I was a true experience! I was alittle hesitant because of the bad reviews but my siblings were born at this hospital same campus and decided to give birth and hope for the best! I enjoyed the view, food and the special care especially when my son was having a hard trying to come to this world. I came out alittle traumatized due to the pain of the tubes that were inserted but it was all for my son to be safe.

Faris Mango: Had an amazing experience with my son’s birth. There were parking spots reserved for expecting mothers right by the elevator of the main parking garage on Broadway.I can’t say enough about the nurses there who made a huge difference for my wife and I. They were amazing women and I am forever grateful to them. Thank you soooooo much!

Swedish Hospital Doula Services - Seattle: what do users think?

Chelsea Cooper: Ciara Richardson, our doula, was the best money I’ve ever spent. The Swedish Doula program helped us find several doula options, we interviewed two. We clicked with Ciara right away and from the time we hired her, she was extremely helpful. She provided resources when I had a complication around 20 weeks that made the system easier to navigate. She made me feel confident and prepared for the birth and was invaluable during my labor, which lasted two days. I honestly don't know if I could have done it without her. I would highly recommend the Swedish Doula program and particularly Ciara to anyone that is pregnant.

Margaret DiJulio: Truly a wonderful program. Excellent Doulas and who make you feel supported, loved and informed during your entire experience. They know their way around Swedish and are familiar with the staff which is a bonus. Our Doula was such blessing to have during COVID times especially. I can't recommend this program enough!

Sarah Stankowski: I loved our experience with Luisa our doula. Having a baby during this crazy time makes for challenges but Luisa made every step of our journey as normal as possible. I’m so thankful she was part of our team for our babies birth. From beginning to end the process with Swedish was effortless!

Catherine Jhung Nutting: We had an amazing experience with India Posner as our birth doula. We felt so supported and advocated for during labor and delivery. India embodies an amazing combination of knowledge/intelligence, thoughtfulness, upbeatness, and emotional sensitivity. Using the Swedish system made the details very easy. We highly recommend!

Blair Grimes: Swedish made the process of finding a great match so easy. Our doula was absolutely incredible. I felt so well educated and well supported heading into labor and delivery, whereas prior to working with her I had been pretty terrified of the experience. She was an exceptional advocate and had so many tangible strategies to offer. We really feel that she made our entire experience so much better - it's hard to properly describe. We are so thankful and feel lucky to have found her. During labor, she teamed with my husband to provide such successful comfort strategies that I was able to stay within my birth plan completely. Her presence was so calming and reassuring and the way she teamed with the nurses and doctors made me feel so confident in my entire care team. I can't imagine having done it without her. I would highly, highly recommend her to anyone, and if we ever have more kids, she will be one of our first calls.

Sarah Lambino Larson: So glad we decided to get a doula. Value was excellent. Having an advocate in the room was so helpful for myself and my husband. This was our first child, and having someone in the room with us who knew the process and could make recommendations was key. Highly recommend Anna, she was amazing. We met we her twice before the birth to talk through our needs and wants for the birth. She was able to advocate for my needs during a stressful time.

Julie Sadoff: The Swedish Doula program is incredible and truly makes this hospital stand out from others in the area. From the beginning, support is offered to help match you with the perfect fit. Even though Swedish doulas are independent contractors, a huge plus is that unlike community doulas, they are allowed to go into the OR with you should you need a C-section. Many of them also know the Swedish system very well and are familiar with staff and protocol. We worked with Lisa Shire and I can’t say enough positive things about her. Giving birth in April 2020 at the beginning and then height of the pandemic, Lisa was a calming presence amidst all the unknowns. My mom and sister had to cancel plans to join me in the labor room, and Lisa did not disappoint! She was my rock and the reason why I was able to labor without an epidural for as long as I had to. She kept my husband up to date and made him rest so he could have energy for the end! She felt like a long-term friend and I can’t wait to work with her again for the next baby! Lastly, huge props to Swedish who from the beginning of the pandemic, made it ultra clear that program doulas did not take the place of the one designated support person, and moreover validated and made it known how integral they view the role of a doula during labor and birth. We never had to fear that we’d be alone, and their policies were crystal clear from the beginning, phewf! If your in the fence because of the cost, know that this is the best way to spend your money in terms of prepping and going through labor - so worth it and wouldn’t do it again without a doula!

Sam B: We met our doula Dannah Norris through Swedish Doula Services, and the entire experience was excellent. The match service through Swedish made it very easy to find available doulas and interview them during a very busy time for our family, even relatively late in my pregnancy. Dannah is a lovely and capable doula who helped me gather information, process feelings around my pregnancy and birth, and advocate for myself when needed.

Steve Edholm: LOVED our Doula! We couldn't have done it without her during COVID, but also would have still welcomed her with open arms if it wasn't COVID

Kathleen Federico: who was fantastic. She was so supportive and helpful throughout the time leading up to birth and then during. I can't imagine birthing without a doula now.

Malena Homavand: I had Shelia's support as my doula during both of my births. She was an outstanding support and resource for my husband and I. We had a wonderful birth experience with each child and I was able to have natural births with Shelia's support throughout the labor and delivery. I highly recommend Shelia!!

Tiffany M.: Our experience was with Tiffany Guenther, CD at Swedish Medical Center Issaquah and we cannot say enough good things about her. She was an amazing support system through the labor and delivery of our kids. She is a wealth of knowledge and has many resources to help assist you. Highly recommend her! We are so thankful Swedish has finally created a partnership program with doulas, we could not have done it without her!

Abraham Valdivias: 😐🙁

Jessie McGrath: To be honest, after Shelia accompanied us through the birth of our first baby, we can't even imagine having another child without Shelia as our doula. Her birthing knowledge and know how was exactly what you would expect from someone who has participated in over a hundred births. Her knowledge is matched by her clear communication and willingness to support both my partner and I in making our labor experience as safe and satisfying as possible. She met us at our home and labored with us throughout the day and then continued to guide and support us at the hospital, serving as a crucial support and advocate through the final stage of our journey. She also left us with a handful of precious pictures we hold dear and we didn't even notice that she had paused from supporting us to take the photos! We could not have asked for a better doula and would highly recommend her to anyone who endeavors to improve the labor and birth experience for baby, mother, and partners/spouses alike.

Katie Dosanjh: We were on the fence about hiring a doula and I'm so happy we decided to do so. Bekah was such a strong and calming presence for me during our family's pregnancy, birth, and even afterwards. She helped me do some research, shared some resources with me, cope with pain, and supported me throughout three and a half hours of pushing. The service was an excellent value.

Nicole Bulow: I cannot say enough good things about our doula, Mariah. She was instrumental in making my labor and delivery such a positive experience. I felt very supported every step of the way. She was a great member of my birth team alongside the Swedish Midwives!

Puget Sound Midwives & Birth Center: what do users think?

Sahilys Fuentes: and birth center

Hannah Pile: I chose a brith center for my 3rd delivery and I could not have better things to say about the Puget Sound Birth Center. The prenatal care was conducted in the comfortable birthing suites and felt very catored to my needs and questions. The birth itself was excellent - I never considered delivering in a tub but it was a unique and special experience. I saw both Blake and Heather throughout my care - both exceptional. I went home from the birthing center about 2 hours after my birth with Heather coming to my home the next day to check on me and baby. After having 2 choatic hospital births where I am happy to have found such a wonderful place to be cared for and birth.

Jamie Georges: I went with Puget Sound Midwives for prenatal care only and they were excellent. What a wonderful caring group of women who do a fantastic job and will support you in your birthing plan.

Mary Chmelik: I feel so fortunate to have been in the care of the incredible team at PSBC. I felt informed, respected, and supported at every step of the way through prenatal care, labor, and postpartum visits.

Z Sterling: The midwifery team at Puget Sound Midwives is truly there for you, your partner, and your baby! They offer personal and individualized care throughout your pregnancy and birth, and they focus on you and your baby’s wellbeing. Also, the front desk team is just as amazing and helpful! They are great with answering your questions and making sure all your paperwork is taken care of that you may have for your employer and so forth. I highly recommend the midwife team at Puget Sound Midwives for anyone looking for unique and holistic prenatal care and birth experience.

Ilmihana Krsin-Polk: Our family is so grateful for PSBC and we would recommend this amazing facility and midwives to everyone. My husband and I loved our midwives, Courtney and Amanda, and truly looked forward to seeing them throughout our pregnancy. I truly believe that the amount of care and education I received from our team played a huge role in having the birth I envisioned as a first time mom. My husband cannot rave enough about how empowered he felt throughout our pregnancy/birth because he always felt included and informed by our midwives. Courtney and Azalea attended our birth and I felt so supported and safe. Trust was a pillar in the relationships we built at PSBC and we felt so at ease leaving with our daughter knowing that our team was so incredibly thorough in making sure mom and baby were in great shape to go home. Lacey & Carolann also deserve a specialist acknowledgment for their hard work with making everything run so smoothly, it also helps that they are both so kind and fun! The facility is clean and cozy. We wouldn’t hesitate having any future babies here!

Haley Hetland: My husband and I could not recommend Puget Sound Birth Center more. The support and care we received from our midwives far exceeded all of our expectations. Our prenatal care was amazing - the midwives are so knowledgeable and gave us so much confidence. We had our first child here in November, after a very long labor; our midwives were so calm, reassuring, and supportive throughout which made me feel so empowered and capable. The care we received postpartum was more amazing than we could even ask for - one our midwives came to our home for our one day checkup, which was amazing. It was so nice not to have to leave our house and have her come to us. If you are hoping to have an unmedicated birth, I cannot recommend the Birth Center more enthusiastically.

Hannah Carlsrud: I loved the whole experience. The midwives are really well educated and always took their time for all my appointments and answered all and any questions I had. The brith experience was great and I felt very supported and trusted my team with everything. Especially, they respected my philosophy of low to high interventions and supported me with that during the birth process as well. The rooms are clean, nice and have all the things you would need! 10/10 recommend.
