Spring Academy: what do users think?

Kendra: As parents, we were drawn to Spring Academy because of the credentials of its leadership and faculty, the school’s accreditations, and that it is a local school tied to the community. After enrolling our child, we can now say first-hand, that Spring Academy is a wonderful school that provided the “just-right” supportive environment and academic structure our child needed to thrive again after a medical setback and because the traditional school setting did not work. I encourage you to meet with their amazing principal and teachers. This is a really special school.

Mishele Maron: Hi, my daughter Elodie attended Spring Academy during that first pandemic year when it was clear to us that a traditional online school setting in high school would not meet her academic needs. My kid has ADHD and dyslexia and while intelligent and hardworking, her processing speed requires a steady, patient, presence to help walk her through both math and reading assignments. The Spring model, which pairs one teacher to two students, has this built in support and accountability model. As the teacher pivots back and forth between the students, students are left briefly alone with tasks, but the teacher is constantly checking in. Due to the highly interactive and intense model, the student absorbs content at an accelerated pace. Elodie has succeeded in classes at Spring that would have been impossible in a 1-30 teacher studio ratio at our local public Lincoln high school. After that, we lobbied and successfully won permission from SPS for Elodie to have a dual enrollment, allowing her to attend classes at our local public high school, and supplement math and English at Spring. So she absorbed academic content but also had a challenging and engaging social environment.Elodie has had three or four different teachers at Spring and all of them have been top notch. We did not once have any issues. The principal, Frank Hewins, also continually checked in with her progress. I have referred ten or fifteen families to Spring in the last few years. Whatever reason a family might seek a school like Spring, to support a student's learning style, supplement home schooling, or enrich the learning of a student so they might gain more academic confidence in themselves, I really recommend Spring as a worthy investment.

Patty Bardina: The teachers at Spring Academy worked with my child's school to be able to support her dyslexia during the school day. She felt very supported with the class material, and the tutoring alleviated the amount of homework she brought home. I'm grateful it worked out so well!

Tanya King: We found Spring Academy during a stressful and chaotic time for our family-especially my 9th grade son. From the first time we met with Frank and Rob, they were kind, calm and non-judgmental and we knew our son would be in good hands. He was productive and successful in finishing out his 9th grade year. He worked hard and learned a lot- he was able to move quickly at times but also ask questions and remediate as needed all due to the one-on-one learning environment. His teachers were patient and flexible as there were times he had to work remotely. The Spring Academy is a great concept and all cities/school districts would be lucky to have something similar. We plan to use them again for tutoring or summer school. Thank you Spring Academy for working with our son & family!

Heather Thorne: My son went to Spring Academy after struggling in his freshman year of high school. Spring Academy not only brought him up to speed, but he excelled and now loves learning! He graduated in 2021 and was accepted to the college of his choice. I couldn't be happier with my son's education and the fact that Spring Academy gave him confidence in his academic ability. I would recommend this school to anyone!

Richard A. Wright: Our child, who normally thrived in school, fell apart with online learning during the pandemic. Spring Academy really saved the day. The one on one teaching and the excellent content really engaged my child in a way that larger classes couldn't. This is a great alternative to public school.

Alexis Polebitski: , and we were all so elated to see how much she had improved in areas with which she was struggling! Our family can’t thank Spring Academy enough. We are forever grateful for all of their help!

Veronica Flores: I am going to put it in Spanish because I know that there are many parents like me, for me and especially for my children, working with the therapists at Spring Academy was a wonderful experience. I think it is important for a child to feel good when working on their therapy. In these times of technology, having a connection with the therapist is something essential 😉 and it is something that I thank you for meeting the needs of each of the children.😍🙏👍

Harvey Family: We are so grateful for all that Spring Academy has done for our son. He has improved both socially and academically thanks to the dedicated staff and tutors who truly care about each individual child.

Sam Benefiel: My daughter has been thriving at Spring Academy since she started Spring quarter in 8th grade. With the extra attention she receives from her teachers, her grades have improved significantly. She gets along well with her teachers and I appreciate that the staff is responsive with communication. It was especially fortunate during the closure of schools due to COVID-19, because Spring Academy was able to transition immediately and seamlessly to online instruction. Instruction time is very efficient, so even with a fully loaded schedule, she spends only four hours per day, two days per week. That allows us to have more family time together and for her to pursue other interests outside of school. I recommend Spring Academy for students who have a hard time focusing in large class sizes and who could benefit from on-on-one instruction.

S H: Our daughter has attended Spring Academy this past school year. She was behind academically at the end of 8th Grade and needed more attention than she had received in her previous school. What attracted us to Spring Academy was its one-on-one tutoring which is what our daughter really needed. It has been a great experience and she has made great strides in catching up, even in math, her most difficult subject that she has struggled with. The staff have been incredibly supportive, and responsive if there were any concerns. We have no hesitation in recommending Spring Academy to others.

padget dean: My teenager has been struggling in public school for quite some time. His self-esteem was shot. Based on a recommendation from his neuropsychologist we decided to try a learning environment where he would receive individual teaching. We found Spring academy close to where we live, so decided to give it a go. It has been wonderful for our son. He's learning and doing well on his tests and his self-esteem is back! He gets along great with his instructor and the staff and are very friendly and genuinely interested in his well-being. Highly recommended!

McLean Thompson: I learned more than a full year of math in one semester here. By learning other things as I went, I learned everything I should have learned in public school in the last several years to a much higher level of understanding than I originally had.

Mark Montstream: My 8th grade son started to have significant struggles 2/3 way through the school year and we needed to get him into a to program quickly while keeping him on track academically. Principal Ryan Malone worked with us to tailor a program which fit our needs and our time schedule. For 2.5 months, Spring Academy was THE school my son attended. He loved his teacher/tutor - her calm demeanor and encouraging personality boosted by son's esteem and allowed him to make steady academic progress. Administrators Ryan and Rob also connected with my son and offered additional encouragement and support. Even though my son has transitioned to a larger, more traditional high school he still takes the bus up to periodically visit Ryan and Rob because he really likes them and continues to feel support from them. Great people. Great experience.

GSM 1: The Spring Academy offered a natural transition from the great progress our son made at the Lehman Academy with some executive function challenges. The pacing of the work is one of the greatest attributes of the program. His forward progress is based on him demonstrating proficiency with the subject matter. If it takes a little longer, his teacher is there to patiently support him. He is also given the opportunity to test out of specific sections for which he is proficient. The Spring Academy’s curriculum is accredited in Washington State and there are several objective forms of measurement by which our sons progress is monitored. For our family the subjective forms of measurement are meaningful as well. He is always ready to go his twice a week, hour long session at the Spring Academy. Most often he is smiling when we pick him up as he tells us about how he “gets it” or that he just did well on an exam.We are also appreciative of the Principal Ryan Malone. He was very generous with his time in helping us decide if the Spring Academy would be a good fit. The accredited curriculum along with Ryan’s help made it easy to substitute his math class at Seattle Public Schools with another subject. Our son will receive full credit for his Math class conducted at the Spring Academy. The Spring Academy offers a very flexible schedule which gave us lots of options for our son’s busy extracurricular schedule. We really appreciate that they are open till 7pm.We are very happy to have found the Spring Academy and would recommend it to anyone seeking help for a student experiencing a learning challenge.

Mama Schonna: Spring Academy change my child's whole perspective towards Math. If you have a child struggling, send them here. It changed my child's life.

Antonio Montstream: This is an Amazing school. Great academics and a great place to do work. A very welcoming and friendly staff. I love my teacher and really recommend this school to anyone out there.

Robin McManamin: could not have been happier. While math is not his favorite, he realized that as a college-bound student, he would need to have pre-calculus and he was determined to do better. We chose Spring Academy as it utilizes one-on-one instruction and felt it was optimal for his comprehension of the material. He liked his teacher a lot. One of the best things about Spring Academy is that he needed to take this class "outside" of his regular school hours AND he was a football player. Spring Academy allowed our son to start the classes after football season and worked hard to accommodate his schedule. From the administration to the instructor, I feel that Spring Academy cares about its' students and their success. Highly recommend them.

Smart Start Day School: what do users think?

Lyle Hews: , and it is much more than a day care. It is a wonderful preschool that our now 3 year old loves so much she is excited to go in the mornings!Miss Sandra, who is the owner, runs the school with Miss Shonny and they are both gifted, smart and nurturing educators who our daughter loves. The teachers are great also! Our daughter absolutely adores her teacher, Miss Lindsey. And Miss Lindsey's thoughtful, creative and fun ways of implementing the curriculum have been especially impressive and set our minds at ease as parents knowing our child is always learning. I can be very hard to please at times when it comes to my daughters and their education and truthfully can't say one bad thing about the education my 3 year has been receiving for over a year now at SSDS!Besides being a clean, safe, well organized school with a great curriculum and all of the traditional aspects of early education, SSDS also has creative, "outside the box" teaching methods which My wife and I love. They garden, do yoga, bring in special guests such as police men to learn about different parts of society, and spend a lot of time outside, among other things.Maybe, what I like about the school the most is the loving, positive atmosphere our little girl gets to be in every day she is not at home with her family and that we truly don't have to ever worry about her during the day. She is in wonderful hands and is constantly learning and developing.SSDS is a wonderful school and exceeded our expectations in many ways!Keep up the amazing work Miss Sandra and staff!

Kamelia Vineva: , very knowledgeable about how to develop fine motor skills and how to organize the little bunch of toddlers so they can finish their activities and actually learn something.

Nate Hart: We just started our daughter here. She loves it. The teachers are wonderful. The only problem is that she doesn't want to leave at the end of the day 😉

S F: Our son attended Alexandra's Renton location for 3.5 years and we absolutely loved it. Her well thought out curriculum and "learning through play" program gave our son a great start and a very positive preschool experience. He is now in Kindergarten and our challenge is to keep that momentum going so he continues to love learning like he did at Alexandra's!

Amanda Tremblay: . I have seen Alexandra worry over the well being of the kids in her care and go out of her way to help parents in dire situations. She is heavier on early childhood academics than other schools and her program is a good fit for kids who are curious and love to learn. I no longer work in early education - the good was overshadowed by the corrupt nature of most childcare centers - but if I were to go back, this is where I would first apply. Dig deep and do your research before you decide on a program for your child but definitely check this place out!

Janae Eells: My daughter started attending the Renton location in September 2016 and it's not secret in my house that she absolutely LOVES her school, friends & especially her teachers. It's been absolutely amazing to watch her grow over the last year. Coming home excited to show me her projects and tell me all about her day. My husband and I know that she is all ready for kindergarten now with all the amazing skills and hands on acivities that she's taken part of over the past 12 months. We've been so happy and excited about our daughter's experience that our 3 year old is starting at Tiny Miracles in September. He absolutely can't wait, and neither can we! We can't thank Alexandra and Eunice enough for all their love, care and attention to not only our daughter- but to all the children's needs.

Shelly Van Dyken: My daughter has been attending Alexandra's Renton location for 2.5 years. I am so thankful we found her! My daughter has learned so many things in this short amount of time and I know she will be so well prepared for Kindergarten when the time comes. It is a relief knowing my daughter is so well loved and cared for while I am at work. She loves being at school with her friends and teachers. I cannot recommend this school enough!

Jenny Thompson: Great place for a beginner adult to learn something new. Terrific teachers and so much support from others in the program. 10/10 no notes.

I like my kid comes back happy and go to school with pleasure. Thank you for doing business this way! Good luck SOR!

houssam nassif: My daughter and I are taking dance classes with Gino, and we are having a blast. Gino is very relatable, making the class super fun. Kids classes go beyond mere dancing, and serve as personality building opportunities.

Emily Doe: Ms. Eva and Ms. Bella do such a nice job with the 3-4 year olds, my daughter loves this dance class!

Holy Names Academy: what do users think?

Topher Ellis: Very nice building nestled in the middle of a quiet neighbourhood. drove by to visit volunteer park and was shocked how big and lovely this building is and how its hidden amongst the neighbourhood. Worth driving by when in the area to appreciate the architecture.

Julie Tilghman: Holy Names is an exceptional school with extraordinary people. The students are focused, motivated, thoughtful and passionate about learning and making the world a better place. The sisterhood and sense of community permeate each facet of school life. The teachers truly care about the success and well-being of each student, and go above and beyond to help all students excel in life. Love this place!

Mary Meg Cedergreen: I could not have asked for a better all-girls private high school experience. Here at Holy Names Academy I have been academically challenged, as HNA uniquely offers Advanced Placement classes starting your freshman year. The faculty and staff are unbelievable and will provide a great source of support. They are not just here to teach the information in the textbooks, but also lessons that will help you throughout your life. The endless leadership opportunities offered at Holy Names have pushed me to go out of my comfort zone and learn what it means to be a young woman in leadership. I have enjoyed the athletics program very much being on the basketball, lacrosse, and cross-country team. Whether you are into sports or not, being apart of an HNA sports team has been such a great way for me to make upper and lower classman friends, while also helping me improve my time-management skills. No matter if you are catholic or not, here at HNA we accept and learn about all religions. I highly recommend Holy Names Academy as it will develop your daughter into a strong, educated, and well-rounded young woman.

Madeleine Doi: Going to an all girls school has been one of the best decisions of my life. HNA has allowed me to pursue so many leadership opportunities. I used to be very shy, but Holy Names helped me gain confidence in myself.

James Lugo: Beautiful building, lovely neighborhood.

Maddie Howell: Best decision of my life! Truly shaped my entire future.

Aoife Groppo: Holy Names Academy is the premier Seattle private school. Excelling in sports, academics, and extra-curricular activities, Holy Names students are exceptionally prepared for college and beyond. Alumnae go on to become leaders in their communities and frequently attribute their successes to the education they received at Holy Names Academy. I highly recommend this high school to any young woman looking to make an impact in the world.

Discoverypoint School of Massage: what do users think?

Irene Malloch: I attended Discovery Point School of Massage here in Seattle back in 2016. It was SUCH an incredible experience - for many reasons! The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and I felt so supported by them. I went to massage school thinking, "I think I'd be good at this" and then came out learning SO much more than just massage techniques. Going to school here taught me so much about myself and was a truly healing experience. It's been 5 years since I've graduated and I now have a thriving private practice and still absolutely love what I do. I cannot recommend this school and this career path enough.

Alexa Peden: The most experienced and thoughtful educators - I feel privileged to have gone to one of the best massage schools in the country.Studying at Discoverypoint School of Massage with their remarkably competent teachers and staff was an honor. I graduated confident and ready to enter a career in massage therapy, well equipped with resources and skills beyond those of more experienced therapists. They've struck a shining balance of razor sharp professionalism and excellence with authentic generosity, humor, and humility, making Discoverypoint the top shelf school it is. I'd send anyone interested in studying massage therapy here for the richest, most high caliber education in the Pacific Northwest.

Charli Hamilton, LMT: My year at Discoverypoint positively impacted every facet of my personal and professional life. I have never encountered such caring, bright, and professional educators working cohesively to instill confidence and curiosity in their students. If you are looking for a bodywork school that challenges you and prepares you for your future career, look no further.

Linda Perry: Positive:Professionalism

Leslie Mitchell: is a special place that I had the fortune to come across as I explored the possibility of attending massage school in Seattle. Discovery Point is a massage school for sure, but ultimately it is a school about the art of learning to live and listen from your heart so that you can show up fully for yourself and therefore, for your clients.Without a doubt, the owners and faculty at DPSM are among the best in the field of massage and they excel in teaching their craft in ways that account for all different learning styles. Their combined experience, knowledge and wisdom is significant. However, the “life” support that students receive during school is unparalleled and something that I have rarely experienced. This is where Discovery Point leaves all others in the dust. If you are willing to give it your all, they are willing and able to help with what you need to become the best massage therapist you can be.Massage school, for me, was a life broadening experience. There were fun times, scary times and many, many challenging moments but there was also always someone to reach out to whether I had an anatomy, physiology, palpation, or practice question, or when I just needed someone to listen with discernment, love and compassion. The people I met during massage school and those I’ve encountered since graduating and finding a position at a massage clinic are some of the most kind and generous people that I’ve met in my life. By the way, I got an LMT job immediately after graduation!

Theresa B: I am a student in my first semester at Discoverypoint, and loving it. The teachers do a great job of making the information memorable, and the tests reflective of learning. having spent the last two years as a teacher, I am very impressed with the quality of the classroom learning at Discoverpoint. I also have to agree with the previous review that Discoverypoint focuses on producing therapists who know how to heal rather than cookie cutter stereotypes who do the same routines without acknowledging the tissue under their hands. So far, all of my practice clients are loving what I am learning at Discoverypoint.Edit: After working in the field for almost 5 years, I am happier than ever with my choice to attend Discoverypoint. High quality education for sure.

Melissa Painter: Going to Massage school started off as a good idea, but going to Discovery Point made it Great! Pat and Lisa are two of the most gifted educators I have ever worked with. They address every learning style and go above and beyond to ensure their students success. The class size is smaller than what I found at other more corporate schools, which allows more personalized, authentic engagement between students. The diverse skills that I learned at DPSM have allowed me to thrive as a LMT and though I have not needed to look for work, they send a constant stream of opportunity to the community of graduates through email. I felt confident and fully prepared for my new career when I graduated and can not be more thankful for all that I experienced and learned at Discovery Point.

Maureen Kirika: I am a current student at this massage school and I love being here. I researched and interviewed every school in the surrounding area and this school really stood out from the rest. I felt from day one there were experienced staff here, but the school really has gone above and beyond my expectations on the quality of education and the attention to my education. The staff really make an effort to create a nurturing and enriched learning environment. I am looking forward to the rest of my school year. I am on the second week of the second term. I have complete confidence in the knowledge I receive here and I'm very happy I chose to go to the school.

Sam Frago: I'm nearing the end of my first quarter at the school and I couldn't be happier with the experience so far! The teachers are experienced and very good at helping everyone learn and grow! If you're looking for a massage program that you will be satisfied with, look no further!!

Evan McManamy: ; the community at DPSoM is one of the warmest and most-supportive communities of which I've been a part. Highly recommended!

Villa Academy: what do users think?

Brent Wastman: Trimming bushes in the summer heat.

Helen Ell Tran: Pretty school with good teachers and well manner kids. They even have yoga mats for kids and care about kids with food allergies.

Heidi Goldsmith: Villa has been great for both my children who have very different learning styles. They both have benefited from the smaller class size and the connections they have made with their teachers. My son feels truly known and valued as a student and his self-confidence has increased greatly due to the wonderful teachers he has had. This in turn has had a huge impact on his academic performance. As a parent I love that the social-emotional development of each child is just as valued as the academics.

Pat McCabe: .I'd also like to offer a rebuttal to "Google User" with the one-star post from a five years ago. Villa students from my daughter's class were accepted into Lakeside, Seattle Prep, Holy Names, SAAS, Bush, University Prep and others. If you meet with the enrollment team, they will privately share with you test scores, high school placement, and they are building their college placement database. I know a number of Villa grads who have gone Ivy League and to other highly selective schools.

Dagmar Jacobs: Our son joined Villa Academy in 6th grade in 2014. Coming from a fabulous public elementary school we were looking at many different options for middle schools and finally chose Villa Academy. Could not be happier with the choice. The transition to middle school for our son our son was wonderful. He felt right at home. Villa is a wonderful place for social and academic growth.

Yvette Moy: And parents, let's be clear: the school is unapologetic in making sure every parent participates not matter how big or small. Everyone is welcomed and respected. It is one thing as a parent to say I really love the school. It truly is another to watch my boys bound out of bed daily

David Ferrero: and a curriculum that sometimes seems haphazard and faddish

Ben Brian: I dropped in for a Wednesday night Gi class while traveling for work and everything about my experience was top notch. Coaches Josh and Fred were professional, welcoming, and gave great instruction throughout the evening. They have created an excellent and safe environment that shows in their students who were all great training partners. I'll definitely train here again whenever I get the opportunity.

Winnie Cheung: the professors are definitely invested more into your skills and development than how fast you get your next promotion. Students are very respectful to each other and everyone works hard to get better. One of the best gyms I've ever been a part of.

David Rosenstock: Attentive coaching and a welcoming community. There’s an emphasis on wrestling and highly effective techniques.

Rodolfo Oliveira: If you live in Seattle or even visiting that’s the place to go.Their hospitality and care about you will make you feel at home.Great coach, looking after everyone and nice technique.Looking forward to coming back.

Mat Lipps: Great place for beginners and advanced! Respectful, friendly and calm. Deep on technique and professionalism. Great atmosphere.

Stuart Lai: and the ground game. Fred and Josh focus on the details and have built a solid curriculum that offers depth and breadth, which gives ample time and repetitions to learn new skills. In particular, they focus on details that can often make or break your techniques - Footwork, hand fighting, grips, angles, and of course submissions. The atmosphere is competitive, yet friendly. Everyone is always willing to accommodate a specific need

Patrick Ayres: I've trained at this gym for a couple years now and really like the way Fred and Josh structure classes and focus on a complete grappling system. Great coaching and great group of people to train with. Very welcoming atmosphere to new students as well.

Sheldon Lee: Fred and Josh are world-class coaches and teachers. They push everyone in a positive and engaging way which creates an environment where the energy is contagious. As a former Division-1 athlete looking to stay competitive, in shape, and mentally sharp - I leave every session having learned something new whether it be a skill, technique, or life lesson through jiu-jitsu. The last year has been a blast. Let's keep the good times rolling!Come train with us! -Shel

June Oh: Being new to martial arts, the thought of joining a BJJ class initially intimidated me. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Seattle, and it's been a game-changer. After my first class, I eagerly signed up, and I can't recommend it enough. Coaches Fred and Josh are exceptional, motivating you to push your limits, improve your skills, and they genuinely appreciate your efforts. The supportive advanced students make the learning experience enjoyable. I look forward to each class, it not only provides a fantastic full-body workout but also serves as a refreshing escape from my work life, helping me cultivate a calmer mind.

Drew Daly: I started out early in the Summer of 2023 with very little background in BJJ. The courses taught by Fred and Josh, the environment they've created, as well as the good nature of the other people training, absolutely deserve a five star review. The instructors are always open to question or to help, and genuinely care about your health and progression. I would absolutely recommend this place to both beginners and more experienced folks.

Phil Chernitsky: Best place in town. If you are new and thinking about getting into grappling, look no further.Josh and Fred have well over 30 years of combined experience training sport jiu jitsu, wrestling, and submission grappling. This is the best place in town to spend your time training and all of the students you meet are great humans and willing to help you.

Andrew Pham: , providing a well-rounded approach to jiu-jitsu.

Bryan Payne: Renzo Gracie Seattle has a very welcoming environment for people at any level and interest in BJJ. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to get into grappling.

Devina Parihar: Started training here this year as a complete newbie with no prior bjj or martial arts experience and I couldn't be happier with my choice to join this gym! The coaches, Fred and Josh, are truly amazing - they are extremely knowledgable, attentive, and have great attention to detail in all instructions they provide along with thorough technique breakdowns. They really do push each and every person to be the best they can be.The gym itself has a great atmosphere and everyone is so kind, welcoming, and uplifting. Really great group of people!I've learnt so so much in my time here and am seriously always looking forward to class. I would highly recommend this gym for all levels and backgrounds.

Evan Eckels: Trained here for a year and it was amazing. The coaches are great and everyone there is very welcoming and great training partners. Came in as a complete beginner and ended up competing at tournaments with the team and had a ton of fun. Only reason I stopped coming here was because I moved out. Gonna miss this place!

Jacob Benson: Fred & Josh are the best in Seattle!!

Northwest Jiu Jitsu Academy: what do users think?

Kevin Vaughan-Carber: Dropped in here while visiting the area. Great gym. Clean mats with a nice strength/conditioning area. Technical instruction. Training partners in the 11AM class to suit a wide range of skill levels. Would feel comfortable here as a beginner or experienced competitor.

Karl Barmuta: Brian is an amazing instructor and his school is one of the best, and cleanest gyms around! Update edit: Going on 9 years of training and still feel this way.

Raymond Sue: This is the absolute best place to learn and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Seattle. Professor Brian Johnson is not only an incredible competitor, he also provides world class instruction. There’s a great mat culture and an all round team of supportive students from all walks of life. It’s an immaculately clean facility free of egos. If you’re looking to try BJJ first time or are looking for a gym to drop into from out of town, I can’t recommend NWJJA enough.

MLZ: Top notch academy

Allie Enriquez: . Brian learned my name immediately and he has a very clear coaching style, but also makes sure we are challenged so things dont get boring. I would highly recommend Northwest Jiu Jitsu Academy!
