Mark and Jan Chalupny/Lee: The driver who delivered our mulch was so great. Our house is in Seattle and does not have easy street access to the yard. Ryan maneuvered the truck onto the sidewalk and into our front yard, while steering clear of cars parked on the side of the road. Wow!!! Then he shoveled mulch off of the sidewalk since the truck could not get far enough into the yard to get the whole load in the yard. He was super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Dirt Exchange if you need dirt or mulch.

We couldn't quite tell where to park to browse, so we just grabbed street parking.Check out their dropoff options for dirt and debris you don't need, too, if you are a hippie and like to do things that help out the planet and have the finances to support that.My only comment about room for improvement is that their online ordering system could benefit from a bit more automation/validation

Veronica White: I came to Salmon Bay Sand & Gravel with a somewhat unusual request: I needed a small amount of sand for a beach photo shoot but not quite as small as the overpriced containers of sand at the craft store. The guy who helped me at the front desk was very patient with me even though I had no idea what I was really looking for, and even steered me away from an option that would have been hazardous for us to be in an enclosed studio space with. The guy who loaded our sand was also very helpful and kind and made the whole experience painless. I can definitely see why they've been around for 110 years!

Conor H.: I ordered 1.5 yards of concrete to be delivered and poured. It turns out I was very under-prepared for the delivery itself. I had dug-out and gravel backfilled an area for a 12ft x 12ft pad to be poured in my yard but I had not built the form before the delivery was made. I am a new DIYer so this job was certainly a growing pains type of experience for me however the difficultly in getting the task done was greatly lessened by Randy from Burien Sand & Gravel. He showed up on-time, was COVID-19 prepared and above-all he was kind enough to not only build the form for the job but also taught me how to do it as he worked. This was COMPLETELY unnecessary for Randy to do but he made me feel ok with the fact I was not quite prepared for the delivery. He was MacGyver on the spot using spare materials from around my yard to facilitate the construction of the form. Never once did I feel like he was inconvenienced by my lack preparedness.This is what great customer service is supposed to feel like and me running to my computer to let the rest of the world know how awesome Randy and Burien Sand & Gravel is just a small token of my appreciation for a job well done.100% getting my business in the future - Thank you so much!

He assessed where we needed the 3 yards of crushed rock, how best to maneuver backing of the truck all the way up the driveway and expertly distributed the rock as much as he could to minimize the amount of work required to spread it out. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and we will definitely be using Burien Sand and Gravel when we need rock for our next project.

I will be hiring these guys again for all gravel and materials like this is in the future and we'd give them 10 stars if we could.

They are polite, competent, knowledgeable and just all around friendly. I live in Tacoma but I drive out there to get all my stone. Sometimes how you are treate is worth the exsta drive time. Kalyn Roberts: This review was originally posted on my behalf as a 1 star review with the attached context, note it's a story that never actually happened and was made up by whoever was able to post it on my behalf, just be aware that not all bad reviews are even true. I'm sure Morrison gravel is a stand up place"After setting up a 10am appointment with Morrison to bring gravel to my construction site, I waited and waited. Noon came around and I decided to call them to find out what had happened. They had gone to another home just down the road and had taken the load back to the plant because there was a locked gate. I have no gate on my property they had taken the load to the wrong house. After describing my property they said they would send another load out to my actual property. Upon arriving the driver felt it was best to back up my hill instead of pulling straight up it. He spun out and claimed this was as far as he could go and dumped it right there. After a couple hours of fixing the mess he left me I was scheduled for one more load. Upon arriving the second time he slid off the road multiple times digging ruts two feet deep into the shoulders of my road. I finally set him back to the plant with the load still on the truck just to get him off my place. I will never call Morrison again and I strongly don't recommend them to anyone. Peninsula Topsoil the very next weekend was able to place the gravel right where I needed it."

Rick Lear: delivery driver, was the major reason why this was such a great experience. He followed our unloading instructions so that the pea gravel we ordered was deposited exactly where we wanted it. And to add to it--Kevin suggested rolling the truck back even further to ensure the entire load would stay in place instead of part of it rolling down a hill, which would've been somewhat irksome. Because all the gravel was dumped in one spot it made it easier to transport it over to where we needed to spread it out. We've had a couple of delivery drivers in the past who haven't been as accommodating. Indeed, Kevin proved to be VERY accommodating!The educational part of Kevin's delivery occurred when he gave us a quick lesson in conversion of yards to tons by showing us a conversion card to explain equivalencies.So, ordering was easy, delivery was quick and Kevin the driver is a keeper. You can bet we’ll be ordering from them again.

I’m sure I’ll be ordering more soil and mulch as I continue to level out my yard and put in new gardens and flowerbeds. Throughout all my projects the staff was so courteous and kind as I came back time and time again to do transactions over the phone while we all did the social distance thing. All we wonder now is why we waited so long to do these projects... We realized it was because we never knew where to get good soil. This dirt it’s really high quality - meaning no garbage in it at all and no pieces of metal, glass etc. it’s top quality clean dirt if that makes sense...

Rowdy Rae: We buy their sawdust, it's a great product. The price is really getting up there, however you get what you pay for so that's a plus. The staff is nice, helpful and will help you figure out what you need and how much you need. They show up when they say they will and drivers are professional and take direction well. They normally deliver within a couple days, once you place your order. Our farm's schedule is very flexible so we have never had an issue. They are local, family owned and our family has used them for years.

Mattias Cape: Really happy with the service and selection. We extended our backyard patio by 100 sq ft and were looking for pebbles to fill space around larger stepping stones. This business had ample options, displayed in a helpful way right inside their gate. It was a busy Saturday with many people looking for supplies, but we only had to wait a few minutes. Our order was taken quickly and the hundreds of pounds of bagged rocks we needed forklifted to our car for loading. Everyone we spoke with was welcoming and professional.I was at first uncertain about this business reading the reviews, but did not encounter any issues at all. Will happily go back when need arises.

All staff I've worked with are knowledgeable & friendly. They were happy to slow down and educate me & made sure I had everything I needed for my patio installation job. Great products & I'd definitely recommend.As for delivery, I've received a couple large orders, each with several yards of gravel. They've taken time to ensure instructions are clear where the product goes & they've delivered per my instructions. Gravel/patio jobs have a tendency to be a bit messy and hard. If that's not your jam, hire a company to do the work for you and keep your job site clean.
Dan Allison: A lot of the reviews are from homeowners who would do better with a full service company or having their landscaper buy the product. They are set up for people and companies that know what they want. Lucky to have them in the city!

Jennifer Evans: This is the best bike shop in town. Knowledgeable mechanics who don't try to get you to spend more than needed but who know how to keep an older bike functioning well. They also know about old and vintage bikes and work thoughtfully to maintain those as well. We have recently had all of our bikes repaired and/or tuned up there, riding one bike in and picking up the finished one. I love this shop.

Steve Hiday: This has been my go-to place for home landscaping needs. When I come to pick up soil, they usually get it loaded within a few minutes with no loading charge. I've also had rock delivered to my house and have been pleased with the speed, service, and prices. I think this place caters more to the DIY homeowner than some of the larger landscape places around that are more geared to working with land developers.
