Howard Young: I took my 1975 Motobecane Grand Record to Charles to get the wheels trued, bearings serviced and new freewheel installed. Charles did what I asked and dealt with a lot of other issues at a reasonable price. I asked if my wheels were in good enough shape for a 1200K brevet I had planned and he suggested I have him build a new set of wheels that were more robust. He built up a beautiful set of wheels with Campy Nuovo Record hubs and Mavic MA40 rims for a very reasonable price. They perform better than the wheelset on my modern road bike. Charles had been very helpful and I feel like he is my team mechanic!

I blew out my tire this morning on the way to work, and called Charles on my way home. He welcomed me over to the shop as soon as I could make it and had my tire patched up within 30 minutes. On top of being super accommodating, he was kind and informative about future care for my bike and transparent about pricing. He has been in business for decades and is without a doubt a trustworthy person to seek care for my bike in the future!
Rex McDowell: Wright Bros and Charles are a great Seattle biking resource! I used to do all my own work in their shop. Built my first set of wheels there after taking a wheel-building class from Charles in the late eighties. My maintenance skills have gotten a bit rusty in the ensuing years, so Charles has taken over and does great work. He's also built a wheelset for me. BTW, I bought this Colnago Sprint frame from his shop in 1987 and built it up there. Did a metric century on it yesterday.
andra luca: Charles is the encyclopedia of everything Velocipede. With a tool collection worthy of a museum. And an eye for detail and craftsmanship - unmatched. Thanks to his patience in explaining away some of my ignorance - I now actually understand how bikes work. Sure you just want to drop off and be on your merry way - but what's the hurry, spend a few minutes and learn about your favorite toy The Bicycle. I do hope he will be able to teach classes again soon. And if you have a chance - do get your wheels built in his shop. The craftsmanship of wheel-building cannot be churned out in factories, and having them built locally is extremely affordable.
Marisa Morgan: You would think that in Seattle, where bikes are everywhere, it would be easy to find a bike shop that knows what they're doing. Sadly, this is not the case. I recently painted my bike and took it somewhere to be reassembled. They did a garbage job of assembly and I've had problem after problem with it since...And then I brought my bike to Wright Brothers. This is not a store that panders to hipsters and their adorable cruiser bikes. This guy knows what he's doing. And it shows because he's booked up for the foreseeable future. It must've been my lucky day today because my shifter cable loose and I stopped by his store, and he was amazing. Had me riding in no time, and as it turns out there were a few more problems than just the shifter cable, which he fixed for an insanely reasonable price. So glad to have found this gem of a bike repair shop.
Jacky “Jack Keychain” Chen: . He would find the cheapest and most effective way for the customer to fix their bike prior to taking on the project. He did not allow me to step away while getting my deflated tire fix; now I know how to fix a flat. He allowed me to shadow him, the next client thought it was just a handle bar jam, but Charles thoroughly looked through the bike, fixed every possible issues and made it better. Glad, he'll be around for another 5 years. If you take your bike seriously, you better go to Charles! He owns his bike shop since the early 80's, and he's here to stay!Side note, if you want him to retire "early", buyout his building for $5mil in cash :

Brian and Paul were so kind to help not only that but check out my derailer and look over my bike to make sure everything was ok. Very nice staff, i felt welcome to ask questions and ask for help with my bike. Not to mention, prices super fair!
Kyle Roberts: Such a wonderful little bicycle shop in the heart of Seattle. I bought a Bianchi street bike here last year, and the reps were wonderful about talking through my preferred use of it, comfort level, price, and various aspects of more modern, high-quality bicycles. I'm no cyclist, and likely not their typical client, but it was a wonderful experience.Fast forward a bit over a year, and I was having a bit of trouble with the pump I bought, worried that I might have inadvertently punctured the tire. Prior to coming in, I thought I'd call and see what they thought. A very kind gentleman spent about 5 minutes troubleshooting with me before I realized that it was just my own idiocy on technique, and managed to immediately resolve the issue.High marks for quality, ease of interaction, and customer service.Side note: these bikes are rather expensive. If you're looking for a beater, you may want to call ahead and ask about inventory price points before visiting.

The technician explained in detail what was going on, the fix, and suggestions to avoid the issue again - while demonstrating why it was an issue. Very helpful.Would have preferred they check before lubing the chain. I use a wax lube and they added a dry lube, resulting in having to degrease the chain. Takes a bit of effort and time.

Ayman El-Khashab: Went in hoping to find a metric shoulder bolt for my sworks bicycle. Even though there were other customers in the store, they went back and sorted through a bin of bolts and found the bolt that I needed. I really appreciate that kind of service and I'll definitely be going back when I need things in the future. It's also a really beautiful store with some really amazing high-end bicycles, parts, and accessories. And one of my favorite plant shops is right next door.

They were able to identify and fix the problem so quickly - and they were so nice and explained what happened, didn’t charge me for it either since it was just alcohol spray. Larry Hanelin: I have used this shop 4 or 5 times and have always received the most courteous and prompt service. Today I needed a minor repair on my trike and the owner, Mike McKean took the time to do the repair even though he was short staffed for the day. In addition he spent time trouble shooting a power meter problem that I was having. This type of service and thoughtfulness is priceless. Check out this bicycle shop. I think you will like it.

Sharan Daniel: custom bike. I'm willing to spend money on my favorite hobby, but I'm far from a money-is-no-object bike buyer. They updated the fit on my non-custom bike, making an adjustment that yielded a bigger improvement than I would have imagined. I wasn't sure I was a great candidate for a custom bike. So I am pretty amazed and really happy that my new bike is even more comfortable and fun than my old faithful one. Joseph helped me spec the bike, choosing the components and accessories to optimize the bike for the way I want to ride. He advised me on where it made sense to spend more and where it probably wouldn't in my case. The designer at Seven Cycles also did a thorough interview. The result is truly a dream bike to meet my aspirations as well as my current riding. I can imagine riding it a lot of miles over a lot of years.
Lori Sills: These guys are great! I sliced open my tubeless tire on a broken bottle on the trail and they helped me out with a new tire on the spot. A++ service. Plus, so many pretty bikes to check out while they were installing the new tire.

What I love most is the people and the inviting environment. As a female cyclist, I don't always feel comfortable at bike shops, and it is completely different here. Jatin Chopra: Jason is an awesome person. He goes at lengths to address areas wrt bike assessment, damages estimates and charges reasonably. Never an instance of they trying to rip you off. My bike was recently damaged at a residential property and they offered to do a thorough evaluation while also making sure repair estimates are reasonable and in line with what insurance expects and the right format. Their sheet also listed a contact to an experienced lawyer in case I have follow up questions or legal requirements wrt bike law of Washington. No back and forth, just plain old professionalism. Erin Bailie: Good Weather has been a bedrock for maintaining my bicycles for 4 years now. Even though I no longer live in Capitol Hill, I’ll gladly brave the parking on Pine to get my bike serviced here. I wouldn’t take it anywhere else.What I love about this shop is that the mechanics take the time to understand what I want. If they have a concern about what I’m asking for, they approach it with curiosity. I’ve never felt spoke down to or “mansplained” which I can’t say about many other bike shops.Jason is also a wealth of bike knowledge. Many times I’ve come to him with a project or idea, and he’s said “that’s cool, here’s an idea I have to make it better/cheaper/more sustainable, what do you think?”. I love that he’s down to collaborate.I can’t say it enough - these folks are kind, they keep my priorities close in mind as they work on my bike, and they stick to their word. I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Mahsa Borhani: listened to me carefully, and then he explained to me what was probably the issue when he took off the tube I had tried to fit on myself with my new tire. My rim tape didn’t have proper coverage, so he put some nice cloth tape on there. I also bought a new tube and was glad he didn’t patch the old one, since patching is just a temporary fix. I really valued his easy-going nature, kindness, and informed approach. It’s always nice as a woman to go into a bike shop and feel like you are having a conversation without any condescension. I love talking about my frankenstein bike and how I’ve modified it over the years, and Jason seemed genuinely interested. I’ve always been more of a bike punk than anything else and I felt comfortable in this shop.

Gerry MacCamy: I brought in my knee scooter. Really needed a quick repair what with broken foot. Peter was busy but made room to do a prompt, thorough fix, at a very reasonable price. Really bailed me out of a tough spot.

Matt Lucas: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for purchasing bikes and gear and also for service and repair. I have purchased my last three bikes here and have been very happy with the purchases and purchasing experience. BUT, I am even more impressed with the Service Department. Chad has work on my bikes a few times and has done a stellar job. He is a great bike mechanic and is always very fair with pricing. I have also has Chris work on my bike before and he also did a fabulous job. If you need service, repairs or upgrades on your bike, this is a great place to go.

I was amazed at the level of effort he put into multiple parts queries finding the one compatible rear hub that would work for the conversion.He also deliberated thoughtfully considering the complexity of the conversion and walked through all the components needed double checking several times that I was ordering the correct parts and not overlooking anything.In addition to that, he thought about the end result and took the time to explain the options and limitations of the direction I was going and suggested substituting a slightly higher count chainring for better results.Exceptional excellence and a gem of a resource to keep bikes rolling in West Seattle.

Michael Robinson: Saved the day! I was riding my fat bike on Alki Beach today and my crank arm fell off. I walked it several miles to the shop and got there about 30 minutes before closing. They hooked me up with a new crank arm at a reasonable price and put it on my bike and had me on the road again in less than 15 minutes. Quality service, highly recommended!

I was also having saddle problems, and he was able to find me a saddle that was perfect! Aside from fitting, they have a great shop, amazing group rides, and bomb coffee.I highly recommend visiting Metier to see all they offer.

Another bike shop told me it was out of their expertise because I had a coaster brake. I brought my bike here and Aaron said "There's nothing wrong with it, I just greased it up." I guess I have to grease my brake. I didn't know that, and neither did the other shop. Riding my bike now, I noticed they even made adjustments to my front brake as well.I was charged a very fair price for a little bit of work and a lot of expertise.

Cory did routine maintenance on my bicycle last year, offering honest advice and very reasonable rates. The attention to detail was excellent. Cory tuned my gear shifter and trued my wheels. Rick Mohler: I've had multiple positive experiences with Cory. I bought my commuter bike from him and he's serviced it many times. He also has serviced my former 20 year old steel road bike and straightened its frame after a crash. I've also purchased an array of parts and accessories from the shop. In all cases, Cory provided me with excellent professional advice and extremely fair rates for his work. We are very fortunate to have his shop in the neighborhood!

Dan Crakes: I’m new to the neighborhood and I’m so glad to have this shop in the area. They are nice and approachable and super knowledgeable. I’ve been a bike rider for many years. I came in needing some spokes for a wheel I had messed up in several ways. They gave me what I needed for a fair price and noticed a problem I had not figured out yet and told me how to fix it. Prior to this I've always tried to tinker with it myself but it was time for a pro. I am so glad I took it in to JRA. They went all through it and adjusted the rear derailleur as well. They also put on a new chain and even adjusted my brakes; wow, it feels like a new bike, well done!

Corbett walked me thru the process, answered all my questions and then some, and I walked away feeling pretty confident in my purchase. Since then, Corbett has responded to all my follow-up questions, as well as others in the shop helping me make small adjustment to fit my needs. I plan on using them for all my future bike related needs and would recommend them to anyone.

William Bedard: I came in with an estimate for a complete drive train replacement from another shop that gave me a bad vibe. The work was quoted by JRA for less even though JRA were supplying new brake pads and new cables, parts and labor, both brakes and all cables which was not included in other higher estimate from other shop. JRA called and told me i had some cracks near spokes on back wheel which was missed by other shop along with the cables and brakes needing replacement. I brought them a spare wheel they switched cassette no extra charge it was even less than the quote i was given. I picked up the bike and it looked amazing all work promised and completed earlier than promised. The bike has seen a ton of milage, a couple wrecks, and stored outside for 3 seasons. Today it rode like it did day one back in 2013. I am so happy i ended up at JRA. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable this is the best shop in town!

Jennifer Evans: This is the best bike shop in town. Knowledgeable mechanics who don't try to get you to spend more than needed but who know how to keep an older bike functioning well. They also know about old and vintage bikes and work thoughtfully to maintain those as well. We have recently had all of our bikes repaired and/or tuned up there, riding one bike in and picking up the finished one. I love this shop.

They never fail to have the random little part I need for a build, and when my partner needed a new shorter seatpost they proposed sawing the existing one to the right length and did it right then & there in 5 min. They also do great work in the community and are worth checking out for open shop, volunteer parties, etc.

I could do all the work myself, but I appreciate the people and the effort they put into my bike.Got my bike back and damn, it's riding better than ever! A full service of the brakes, brake pads, and drivetrain made such a difference! They even took the time to straighten out my derailleur hanger which has made shifting 👌perfect. Bike is silent now!I've read a few negative reviews here, and all of the followups as well from the shop. Seems like a lot of people want to get something for free from the shop. It's really nice to see owners care so much about their work and business, and follow up on all reviews to make sure every customer is happy!

Nickolaus Fuerstenberg: I visited The Bikery to fix up my brakes and add a bike rack and basket to my bike, and I was warmly greeted by Aaron, one of the volunteers who works there. I shared with Aaron the things I intended to work on, and indicated that I was not quite sure what to do, and he said "no problem, I'm happy to help you out. Let's have a look." I learned several great tips for adjusting brakes, learned about how to lube my shifters, and with Aaron's help to find a spacer part to make the bike rack fit over my disk brakes, got the bike rake and basket on as well. The vibe felt very warm and folks felt like community -- everyone was working on their own thing, often using used parts and shared tools. I would go here again just to work on my bike in good company.

Tuan Hoang: I've visited this shop twice in one week due to unfortunate incidents with my bike. The first time, another cyclist collided with me, bending my rear hanger. The second visit was after a friend accidentally dropped my bike, severely mangling the rear hanger. Both times, I was impressed by how quickly and efficiently the team handled the repairs. Their professionalism and skill made each visit as painless as possible. I was out in no time, thanks to their expert handling and friendly service. Truly a great team all around! I highly recommend them for anyone in need of trustworthy and professional bike service.

There was no stutter, there was no pushback, they immediately said yes we will own her that sale price for you. I was quite impressed.
Jeff Battema: I brought my bike in because it’s been years since it’s been ridden and longer before that since it’s been serviced. So I expected to drop it off for a tune up and come back in a couple days and pay the $150. What I didn’t expect was for the technician to take it back immediately, hook it up to his machine, do some tests on the brakes, wheels, gears and whatnot, and hand it back 5 minutes later with “its working fine. No need for a service.” The guy easily could have taken my money and I would’ve paid it, none the wiser. Instead he put customer service and honesty above anything else. Every small business can learn a lesson from this.
