Meter Music School - Central District: what do users think?

Geneva Williams: . Thank you, all!

Alia Kaneko: interests. My 7-year-old has enjoyed weekly voice lessons with Jeanie for 18+ months and is looking forward to expanding into music theory in the coming months. We also appreciate Meter's warm and communicative staff - thank you, Meagan!

Yeunbee Jeanette Park: Teacher Jeanie has been a great first piano instructor for my kindergartener! She is patient and balances my son's interest in trying to write songs and stories with learning notes, reading music, etc.

Jennifer Strano: My 7 year old has been learning guitar here, with Ricky. He is kind and patient and she’s really enjoying the experience. Thank you, Meter Music School CD!!

Bryennah Quander: I've been taking piano lessons for a little under a year now from Darryl. He is an amazing teacher! He is very patient, kind, and supportive. I've tried learning piano off and on for as long as I can remember, and I'm finally feeling more confident in my playing. He does a great job of pushing you to do more, while keeping lessons stress free and fun. Thank you, Darryl!

Nicole: Shout out to teacher Jonah! My ten year old daughter started violin in the fall and she's already playing multiple pieces. She says" I like how he lets me play independently and then adds the duet. And also that he is very nice."

Julia GY: My toddler loves the mini meter class with Jesse. He is such a fantastic instructor and extremely kind and engaged, and he's taught my daughter most of her favorite songs! It's so special to have the opportunity to expose her to live music and movement with a great teacher and other kiddos; this class is one of the highlights of our week!

Zach Patten Ferreira: and I love how she explains techniques that have drastically improved my singing.

Kyri Khouri: Hi - Our daughter has taken flute lessons with Christine at Meter this year. Christine is a wonderful teacher, she is the reason why our daughter is motivated and continues to play and practice playing the flute happily. We are very grateful for her.We have been with Meter since they opened and only have to say good things! Thank you for supporting music learning in our neighborhood! Kyri

J K: My kid has been taking lessons here for over 7 years. We have really enjoyed meter music. Great for introducing little ones to music and allowing them to find their instrument. I have seen both the more disciplined student and the beginners and both are welcome. It’s been great to be apart of the meter community and we look forward to many more years at meter.

Mirsa D: Decided to learn the guitar as an adult and Meter school has been the perfect place for it! My instructor Ricky C is beyond knowledgable about music and I see improvements in my learnings every time we meet. Shout-out to Meagan running the front desk and providing any support needed.

Yumi Pick: The teachers here are wonderful. Communication with staff is easy. Ever since Emily Stephenson has been my daughter’s piano teacher she’s improved leaps and bounds. She actually gets her to play classical music without too much complaining! Our daughter looks forward to her lessons with Emily. She is getting a well-rounded education with theory and technique.

Matthew Cary: We've been taking lessons at Meter Central District for 4 years and have been extremely happy. The front office has been super flexible and helpful in finding lesson times and scheduling. Our son's teacher, Emily Stephenson, is fabulous. He has started in piano, but as he began playing trombone in concert band at his school, she's been able to do a hybrid class and work on both instruments. He looks forward to going to music lessons, need I say more?

Jack Nelson: I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and signed up for guitar lessons after noticing this place in my neighborhood. Daniel has been a great teacher for this beginner - exceedingly patient and encouraging, with plenty of helpful tips.

Lauren Rolfe: . They are patient and easygoing with my kids, who then come home excited to practice. Meter is also really great about scheduling makeups or pivoting to online lessons when needed. Highly recommend for kids looking to try an instrument for the first time.

I A: , to being occasionally proud of what I can do. You’re amazing Emily 🙌🏽

Sound Music School: what do users think?

Ingrid Wheelock: As an older student, I've found Sound Music School an amazing, enriching experience. I've taken both guitar and vocal lessons here, and both of my instructors have been outstanding. Mike Keeney has put a ton of work into creating a topnotch school; he has taken time to choose instructors who know how to TEACH, which is a skill not all musicians possess. The emphasis on affordable weekly lessons helps to ensure improvement and increases connection with one's instructor. I can't say enough about this great school!

Vanessa Dias: Great school, with the best instructors!

Shiyu Wang: I have been learning guitar here for a year. One year ago I brought an old guitar here can’t play a whole song, but now I am much confident in playing rock guitar songs that are pretty advanced. If you are trying to improve your guitar skill and a be a serious student, then this is the right place to go.

Erica Miller: I highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Mike Keeney. I started lessons by taking advantage of his free trial lesson which was awesome for me. I've had instructors in the past who I realized weren't the best match for what I was I was trying to accomplish and the trial lesson gave me the space to feel out if Mike was going to be a good match for me! After the trial lesson I immediately knew Mike was going to be professional, skilled, easy to work with, and open-minded. I really appreciated that Mike was down to go outside of your standard lessons in music theory and cater my experience in a way that would fast track me to what I wanted to accomplish within my lessons. As a self-taught musician who has been playing in touring bands for about the last 4 years I had a lot of different strengths and weaknesses. Mike helped me hone in on areas that would allow me to boost my confidence in practices and live performances while developing skills to better communicate musically with my bandmates. I believe Mike is the perfect instructor for all skill levels and backgrounds. He is an extremely talented and versatile musician. In addition to his abilities as a musician and instructor, he is patient, easy to communicate with, motivating, and understanding.

Nancy Taing: I was excited, but intimidated going in because I'm convinced I am musically-challenged. As a beginner, Mike made it easy not to get discouraged so early on. Mike covers a lot in 30 mins. I like that he gives a variety of things to work on, and provides ample feedback on ways to improve. This is perhaps the best Groupon I've ever found.

Alex Samano: Mike has been teaching our 6 year old for about 6 months. He is reading music, playing chords, and even the Pokemon song. Mike is great encouraging him and keeping him engaged.

Kelsey Coleman: My family gifted me a Groupon for ukulele lessons with Mike and I'm so glad they did! Mike is really friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and encouraging. He knows just how to keep a beginner, like me, motivated and I’m sure he could help folks with experience improve upon their skills. He has worked with me on songs that I really love, which makes practice fun. The sessions are short, but he makes sure you get the most out of them. I’m even continuing with lessons after the Groupon period is over!

Janelle B (elle): Mike Keeney is an awesome guitar teacher! I recently started taking lessons with Mike and was immediately impressed with his talent, skills, passion, professionalism, and attitude. I've always been a bit shy about playing guitar but feel at ease with Mike. I was also impressed with how quickly and competently he was able to assess my current skill level and provided specific exercises and tips to help me progress from exactly where I'm at today. I left my first lesson feeling empowered and inspired. I've worked with other very talented musicians and teachers, and I have to say, Mike Keeney is exceptional. Also, his fee's are very reasonable, and his office is comfortable and conveniently located on the south end of Aurora in Fremont.

Clarke Bisbee: If you live in the Seattle area and want to take guitar lessons with a totally awesome down-to-earth guy then I highly recommend Mike Keeney! I've had the privilege of taking lessons with Mike in the past and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Whatever it is you are looking to improve: technique, performance, rhythm/timing, music theory etc... Mike will help you work towards and achieve any of your musical goals. Above all Mike is a great listener, which goes a long way when learning a new instrument or skill set. If I lived in Seattle I would most definitely continue taking lessons with Mike. I'm certain my guitar chops would much appreciate his continued services as well - Rock on!

Marc Bashaw: Can't teach an old dog new tricks???? Not the case if you have the pleasure of attending Mikes guitar school. I started taking classes with Mike as an absolute beginner and after the first 30 minute lesson I walked away wanting more and confident that I could actually learn to play guitar. If you listen to Mike play you will be blown away and luckily for his students he has decided to share his knowledge to others. His passion for guitar and music is easily noticeable and the fact that he will cater your lessons to a particular music style you are interested in is a huge bonus. The best part of taking lessons with Mike is he is an awesome guy, he wants to teach you, you will want to learn and he gets excited seeing his students transition into musicians.Do your self a favor and grab lessons with Mike, your inner Rock Star will thank you!

Rebecca Fields: I had Mike as a guitar teacher for about maybe three years when he was in Palatine, Illinois, and he was the best teacher I have had. He was patient when I would mess up, but wouldn't let me off the hook when I didn't practice enough. He pushed me to become a better guitarist. I was able to enjoy myself while learning an instrument in a way that I understood and was beneficial. If I ever move to Seattle I would most defiantly have him be my guitar teacher again.

Lorenzo De Leon: Mike Keeney is a wonderful instructor and musician. He connects with people of all levels and is able to break down complicated ideas into more easily digestible pieces.

Adam Gardner: Mike is a super-positive, intelligent, humble dude who is genuinely excited to help people accomplish their musical goals. Operating out of a uber-cozy, zen-like studio off Aurora Ave, he offers a free first lesson, which I thought was cool.I played the trumpet in high school and college, and wanted to commit to getting back into music. He developed a custom program for me to learn songs but also the musical theory behind them, so I could apply the learning process to other songs on my own. Mike combines an enthusiasm for music with a solid framework for showing progress and accomplishing goals with lessons.I'd definitely recommend Mike to anyone at any point in their musical journey!

C Drewes: Mike is an excellent guitar teacher. My 12 year old daughter took lessons from Mike for 2 years. He worked with her both on acoustic and electric guitar. Mike has a huge range and brings that to the student by tailoring what he is teaching to their interests. Mike is great to work with overall. He spent time with us on several occasions researching, recommending, and setting-up new equipment. Mike's passion for creativity and precision with the guitar is evident & contagious. We miss him here in the Chicago area but enjoy listening to his CD's!

Tara Schreiner: . Mike instantly got to know Benett to determine what would help inspire Benett musically. With Mike's funny disposition, astute video game knowledge and eclectic musical taste, he was able to quickly climb into my son's head. Mike expertly taught Benett guitar fundamentals and managed to keep him coming back for more. Benett looked forward to his sessions with Mike and practiced independently so that he wouldn't let Mike down. Because of Mikes instruction, Benett made the middle school Jazz Band and he worked with Benett to solo by age 13. Mike worked with Benett for three years before relocating to Seattle. We were sad to see him leave Chicago. Mike is a great teacher, a positive mentor and an insanely talented musician

Jill Limberg: I took guitar lessons from Mike Keeney for 7 years, and it was a great experience! He is very knowlegable about all aspects of guitars and taught me a lot of great skills! His lessons are very fun and informative and I looked forward to going. He even helped me prepare for an audition for my school's jazz band and I was invited to join! My brothers also took lessons from him and had the same great experience. I highly recommend him!

Leah Danielle: Taking guitar lessons with Mike Keeney was a great experience! He is an excellent teacher, being very knowledgeable about all styles of music and guitar playing, and dedicated to helping all his students achieve their musical goals.

Seattle Jazz Academy: what do users think?

Fred Rowley: Daniel is a brilliant, talented and incredibly thoughtful jazz musician with a broad range of dazzling skills and repertoire for the guitar -- he is very, very at home in the jazz world. Besides all that, he's super approachable, relaxed and fun to be with. I've learned a ton from my lessons with him.

Andy Yeo: . And it is effective at getting me to understand how each song/technique fits into each weekly class fits into each course which fits into the broader lexicon of playing piano.2. ADVANTAGES OF GROUP BASED CLASSES WITH NONE OF THE PERKS OF ONE-ON-ONE TEACHING LOST. While there are private one-on-ones offered, the structure of the intro piano classes are group-based. You might think that that’s not sensical because it challenges the 1:1 standard that we are all familiar with - like I did. Until I ran out of teachers to go try in Seattle. The class size is limited to no more than 3-4. The studio is set up so that each student has their own digital weighted-key pianos that comes with headphones, in addition to a few acoustic pianos. Each course is centered on a concept broken into a 12-week series

Calvin: who plays piano in the ensembles I regularly play in, and I look up to greatly because of their skill. I came into my lessons skeptically because I had already been playing guitar for many years. I wasn't interested in any old guitar lesson that would be reteaching me things I had already learned. However this was not the case at SJA, Dan was able to meet me where I was at in terms of my level and has been very receptive to my interests, playstyle, and feedback. The guitar program taught by Dan has taught me so many things that have opened up my play to a new level. Additionally, all of the SJA staff is very accommodating and they present me with so many new unique learning opportunities every month, between jam sessions, concerts, masterclasses, and other resources. As a rhythm section player, these kinds of learning opportunities are rarely presented to me, I am just expected to know what to do in my ensembles. For that reason, I am so glad that I have been able to learn so much from SJA. Overall, if you are interested in jazz piano or guitar, SJA has some of the best lessons and instructors in a great environment.

John Hage: Mack is the best! I'm a gigging keyboardist that came to Seattle Jazz Academy looking to take my range to the next level and Mack has absolutely done that. He is an excellent instructor with a seemingly bottomless well of knowledge and patience. I look forward to my session every week.

Peter Lee: This review is for jazz piano lessons with Jeremy Bacon. I have really enjoyed my lessons with Jeremy so far. He is such a good player, and knows his stuff, so I can ask him for help with anything and he can always show me something I haven't tried before. He is also very flexible and patient, which I appreciate. I have never felt shamed or degraded during a lesson; whatever progress I make in a given week, he meets me where I am and we go from there. I'm learning and it's fun, and that's all I can ask.

Dipankar Ray: I could not recommend him more!

Malcolm Certain: Positive:QualityBeen taking lessons here for a bit over two years, and I went from having almost no piano ability to knowing tons of jazz standards and being able to read chords and improvise with no issues. Excellent studio!

Ryan Fay: I'm an adult amateur pianist who has a background in classical music. I started with Mack's Intro to Jazz course and was very impressed with his expertise and friendly teaching approach. The class was very informative with lots of opportunities to learn and play in a group setting. Our class had 4 people, which felt like a good balance for group instruction. It was a great first experience with jazz and served as a bridge into a new area of music that I had been interested in for a while. From there, I started to take private lessons with Mack, and he has helped my jazz understanding and playing tremendously. In the 1.5 years of lessons we've done so far, I have become much more comfortable playing my own arrangements and improvising on jazz tunes, and also have a much better understanding of jazz music theory. This has actually fed back onto a better understanding of classical music for me as well, as most classical piano instruction today does not focus on theory or improvisation skills. Mack is a very encouraging teacher who also gives you lots of feedback. Also each week he brings a new technique or skill for you to add to your library, which keeps each week's practice sessions interesting and fresh.Overall I would highly recommend Seattle Jazz Academy. It's a great community of teachers and students who all love music, which has such a positive reinforcing quality for anyone who wants to learn.

Nick McCoy: Not a student myself, but I live right above the Academy. Mack is extremely friendly and always has a nod or a smile when we cross paths. I have heard several of his students excel in their studies and improve their playing. Even if the sound drives me nuts at times, I'm glad Mack is here doing what he does 😁

Kelly Michelle O'Neill: He's funny, easy to get along with...Plus, he truly cares about his students and wants us to succeed.. he really listens and seeks to understand your goals and helps tailor each lesson to your needs and wants. I don't know how he does it..but he finds a way to make every concept he teaches fun and exciting and something to look forward to practicing. Not to mention, a truly unique and outstanding improvisor, pianist and musician. I feel truly lucky to have found Mack as an instructor and am grateful for his guidance, and hope to take lessons with him for years to come.If you are looking to take piano lessons and improve your playing with someone who cares about you and your goals, is incredibly nice, and is the best instructor ever, Mack is absolutely the teacher for you. Go Seattle Jazz Academy!

James R Lotter: Terrific studio and awesome instruction! I've taken music lessons elsewhere at different times in my life and nothing compares to the quality of teaching I get from Seattle Jazz Academy. They're super professional, incredibly talented, and skilled at passing that knowledge on to the student in a supportive environment. Set yourself up for success and enroll here if there's space.

William Chavez-Salinas: Private lessons at the Seattle Jazz Academy with Mack Grout have been phenomenal. I come from playing classical piano and Mack did a great job of assessing where I was at in my journey. He creates a curriculum that guides you through jazz fundamentals, learning different ways to improvise, blues, and practicing tips for different styles. Highly recommended for anyone on a journey to learn jazz piano!

Peter Strasser: The Seattle Jazz Academy is a fabulous jazz studio with elite musicians. I have been studying with Jeremy, an incredible pianist that can teach you just about anything you might want to learn. He has an amazing way of breaking down the fundamentals of jazz into bite sized pieces that you can work on to build a strong foundation of theory, ear training and technique. I highly recommend him as a teacher if your looking to improve beyond what you thought you were capable of!

Antonio Woods: I've had several music teachers in my life, and Mack is hands down the best.Mack structures his curriculum very carefully. The concepts build on each other, and every class he offers an attainable thing to improve on.He also gives you plenty of room to develop your own style and explore what interests you.He is good at answering questions. He loves talking through deep musical concepts, and is very passionate about it.He is also a true master of his instrument. He plays the piano with the ease that I assume only lifelong practicing jazz pianists can attain. Its fun to throw abstract ideas at him and watch him run with it immediately and play something crazy.I would absolutely recommend. The only shortcomings of his class are my own: I wish I had time to practice more. In order to get the most of his course, it's a good amount of work.

Kathryn Fernandez Sun (Katie): Positive:Professionalism,QualityI recently completed one of Mack's Intro to Jazz and Blues courses and had a fantastic experience while learning a ton. Mack has created a thoughtfully organized curriculum and does an impressive job at conveying practical knowledge and application while covering a lot of ground in just 12 weeks. I cant wait for the next one!

Michael Kroll: . I finished out 12 week course motivated and energized to keep practicing and learning on my own. Looking forward to another class.

Jeanne Heuving: I took Mack's 12-week Introduction to Jazz and Blues, and I am hooked on playing jazz and blues piano forever. I had played very little piano for many years and had always thought to return to the rudimentary jazz and blues I did in my youth. I had a steep learning curve in front of me, but Mack's excellent instruction and his weekly lesson plans brought me far beyond what I had hoped. Each week we received close to ten pages of informative descriptions of jazz and blues, exercises breaking down our learning, and well-chosen musical pieces on which to practice--all worth their weight in gold. As a college professor, I was truly impressed with how Mack laid out, paced, and demonstrated each of the weekly lessons. I am using this introductory book daily as a way of practicing on my own. I plan to take more classes in the future.

Josie Zocco: I've been taking lessons with Mack for over 2 years now. I came to him as an experienced classical pianist wanting to broaden my horizons into the world of jazz and improvision. I'm so glad I did! Mack is knowledgable, approachable, experienced, and entertaining. Our lessons are always a blast!By profession I am a piano teacher myself, so I require high-level instruction which Mack is able to provide in abundance. Whether it's a deep-dive into some esoteric theoretical concept, or improvising back-and-forth, or giving great feedback on making arrangements, Mack is always ready with helpful comments and suggestions to make my playing better.Highly recommended!!

Joey Lee: to the quality of his many students' playing to tell. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

4/4 School of Music: what do users think?

Jim Carlson: Austin is a fantastic, attentive and reliable teacher. My son has developed a lifelong enjoyment of playing the guitar. Thanks 4/4!

Tyler Dawson: I really enjoyed my piano lessons at 4/4. I wasn't sure what it would be like starting up piano as an adult, but Kaitlyn was a fantastic teacher. Very patient and a great eye for the types of exercises that would supplement the pieces and scales we worked on. The lessons had a good variety and I enjoyed working on various pieces she recommended outside of the book, such as seasonal songs. Highly recommend 4/4 and Kaitlyn for people of all ages interested in learning piano!

Design Harmony: My son has been taking drum lessons at 4/4 Kirkland and his teacher Jonathan is exceptional! Every time I pick up my son after practice he is so pumped, excited and has learned so much! The company is great, really detailed info and communication, highly recommend!!

Johnathan Solomon: Great place to learn new music skills or sharpen the ones you already have. Great teachers/instructors that really love to teach music to all ages

Adam Bailey: Fantastic music school! Great teachers and friendly staff.

Davis Hasslinger: I had an amazing 2 years learning drums with Paul, who was extremely patient and cooperative. I have learned a lot from him, as I started not knowing how to read drum music and ended playing complex 16th note rhythms with with relative ease. All in all a great experience.

Soumya Panda: 4/4 School of Music is a great music school with both virtual and in person offerings. They have talented and very dedicated teachers. My son has been attending guitar lessons with Mr. Nick Wichman, who is a superb teacher and knows well how to keep young students engaged. We are very happy with how much progress the kid has made and how he likes his class and the teacher. One thing I would like to call out is the extremely quick customer service the school has who respond fast and take care of any requests made promptly. Glad that my son attends 4/4 School of Music, I would happily recommend them for any music lessons!

Kurt Ahrensfeld: I took guitar lessons from Nick Wichman for many years at the Kirkland location. He has been very patient with me when I have issues and has taught me alot over the years. I would highly recommend him as an instructor.

Lawrence Wu: I've been taking guitar lessons with Austin in Kirkland for 7 months and have had an amazing experience. Austin has extensive knowledge of guitar playing techniques and the steps it takes to learn them and also knows a great deal of music theory that supplements his teaching. He adapts to my skill level and tastes in music quickly and I have made great strides during my time with him.

Vicky Lin: Positive:ProfessionalismI took piano and guitar lessons from 4/4 School of Music for several years. This music school has great teachers and offers flexibility regarding class schedule and make up class. I really enjoy my learning in this school.

Shelby Finn: 4/4 School of Music is awesome! My daughter takes keyboard/piano lessons with Nick who is beyond amazing! He connects with my 7 year old daughter so well! He is patient yet pushes her and professional yet still fun/goofy!! The school communicates so well and is so on top of their emails. I am so thrilled with the 4/4 School of Music!

Skip Dise: Positive:Communication,QualityWe have all our kids in 4/4 School and love it! The teachers are great with early learners and we've really appreciated the responsiveness from the 4/4 team when conflicts on schedule arise.

Eliana Arias-Dotson: from the backyard a 20 min concert, including Allelujah, Ode to Joy, Gloria from Vivaldi, and Happy Birthday. Those moments were priceless for all of us. The staff behind the scenes for classes, scheduling, and all that is always very responsive, kind, and quick on address any concern and questions you may have. Today, as a 1 year anniversary being with 4/4 School of Music, I wanted to say thank YOU for the great experience and caring for the students and the love of music.

Swaroopa Gollapalli: My daughter has been going to 4/4 school for over an year and she really enjoy ukulele class with Austin Schuyler. He is really good, provides tips to practice at home as well as motivates her with songs that she likes. Austin also talks about goals and creates a plan to accomplish them with the right amount of practice for her level. The 4/4 support staff via email/phone are very responsive and resolves questions with great attention.

Dustin Cooley: 4/4 School of Music is a great place to learn a new instrument at any age. I am in my 40's and started learning the violin after many years of procrastination of thinking I am too old. This school along with my instructor take the time and sincerity to teach you. I 100% recommend this school.

Rachel Bain: - incredibly kind and patient, would highly recommend him if your child is ready to learn piano.

Linda Joyce Minor: Sarah, I have to tell you. I have been having a lot of fun and enjoying how my voice is developing for my Voice-Over/Character-Singing work. You are just wonderful with your suggestions and keeping me on track with my technical vocal work to help strengthen and tone my voice. I thought I had totally lost it, but you are showing me that is not true. Your patience and understanding have just helped me gain my confidence with my vocal work. It has been just about a year---and what a fun year it has been. I would recommend you to anyone wanting to improve their vocal work for singing, character work or Voice-Over work. Here's to another year--Thank you so much

Sofia Celic: , there is no refund for them, the teachers don't get those funds if the make-up lesson isn't booked, so the school gets some free money if you can't use the make-up lessons before stopping regular lessons. The admin at the school have always responded in a timely manner and been willing to help out with any changes or concerns as best they could. It is a wonderful music school with a questionable policy on missed lessons.

The Music Factory: what do users think?

Jamison Johnson: I have had multiple lessons for piano, trumpet, and guitar at music factory. The musicians are local area favorites and play with known acts and projects locally and nationally/internationally in different genres as professional musicians. They also know how to work with small children all the way to adults to learn and grow in what they consider success. They have opportunities for recitals to get some experience playing for others in fun venues and put on some fun student shows that are supportive and kind for all. I highly recommend taking lessons from them and becoming part of their growing music family like I have. You won't regret the joy and education you or your children receive with care.

Penelope and The Beauty Bar: A wonderful owner and new neighbor. Very welcoming and an excellent location!

Keith OConnell: Awesome one on one lessons.

Micheal Linke: The instructors and tutors seem very friendly and engaging with their students and parents. Seems very laid back and relaxed. Very good for shy students.

Trevor Ridge: The Music Factory NW is by far the coolest music school in Seattle. Super talented and genuine staff, fun student community, and the most down to earth vibe. Love the location #Madison Valley

Shaijah Aloha Love: Awesome people creating magic!

Benjamin Heymann: This is such a great environment and group of teachers who are all ready to help you learn. Real musicians, real people who care about helping you be the best you can.

The Music Factory: Great Teachers Great Vibe Good place for Kids and Adults as well!

Dylan W: I go here a lot and its amazing. I have learned a lot and all the teachers have been very nice and skilled people.

Dusty Strings Music Store & School: what do users think?

Stephen Smith: I came down from Canada for a Mariners game and wanted to check this place out after the game, as I’ve heard good things. It’s amazing! I wasn’t in the market for any big instrument purchases, but got some picks and an instructional book. I had such a fun time checking out the mandolins, banjos, dulcimers, and ukuleles. I know nothing about harps but admired the ones they make in house. And I was so happy to finally go to a music store that stocks quality ukuleles and not just the cheapest entry level ones available! I had a great conversation with one of the employees about ukuleles and another one at the cash register who checked me out. They were both super friendly and helpful. This place is amazing and now I know I have to come by whenever I’m in Seattle!

Bruce Baker: Incredible selection of instruments, supplies, books. Active rooms for gathering to jam, sing, learn. A treasure.

Laura Alexandra: They have a wide variety of instruments and they are also a school. People are very nice here and if you have any doubts they are happy to help

Anna Hagen: From harps to stools to harp specific pickups, Dusty Strings products are some of the best investments I've made as a musician and performer. Great products and great people!I'm a fulltime professional harpist and my first Dusty Strings purchase was the padded harp stool-- I've carried it to every gig for 15 years and it is a back saver! Then I installed the Dusty Strings pickup in my pedal harp. Despite the nerves of applying glue to my instrument, the installation was easy and the pickup made gigging instantly better! I can plug in by myself or connect with a sound engineer in a minute. Because I could amplify and not strain myself trying to be heard, I recently performed 28 gigs in one month. I've used their pickup so much I've installed two more in my 36 string lever harp and 25 string lap harp! But the best thing is the Dusty Strings team. They are so gracious to work with. Whenever I had a question about their products and my harps, I would call and get wisdom and tips from people who are obviously passionate about their products. I love any chance to interact with them.

Ralph Palmer: Excellent store for new and used instruments as well as lessons. Mostly fretted instruments, I think.

Kaya Peterson: I went here to rent a banjo yesterday and the customer service exceeded all expectations. I'm a beginner and they gave me an extremely thorough overview of the instrument and just generally seemed to really care about music and the instruments and enjoy introducing people to those topics. In addition, the rental process was simple and a fair price, in my opinion. I'd highly recommend going to this store, we are lucky to have local businesses like these in Seattle!

David Pfister: John in the repair shop was very knowledgeable and able to lower my guitar action to a much nicer height. Very neat shop, check it out.

Susan Canfield: I recently went to Dusty Strings with a precious guitar made by my husband in the early 1970s. He passed and I wanted to get it repaired so it can be played at his memorial service. The two Jacobs I met with there were exceptional. Jacob P was sensitive and helpful with my request, and Jacob C did a beautiful job on repairing the guitar in time for the service. He did an assessment, explained each step of the repair process, and communicated along the way. Rarely does one see such thoroughness and pride in workmanship as demonstrated by Jacob C. I highly recommend him, if you ever need repair work on your musical instrument. Thank you Jacob C and Jacob P!

Na Hyung Choi: Quality instruments, wide selection, knowledgeable and extremely helpful staff, every time.

Dhairya Thakkar: Extremely warm and courteous staff. Really good customer service.

Marcus: Amazing music shop with friendly and helpful staff, loads of stringed instruments, lesson of all kinds. It was a lovely experience going there, and I'm gonna sign up for singing and song writing lessons... ❤️...parking is a little difficult as it's on a busy intersection, so you may need to park on some side streets.

Alexander: Great selection and probably some of the best customer service anywhere in the city. Got my first guitar here when I was 9 as well as my most recent one at 24, and the service/experience has remained consistent the entire time

Matthew Sarb (Matt S): Dusty Strings is a welcoming and wonderful store! Every time I come here, I am inspired to make music and play the harp. 5/5, without a doubt.

Ted Brown Music: what do users think?

Aaron Kahn: Matt and his team run a great shop. He generously lent me a high-end Bach Strad trumpet at a very fair price and did so with consummate professionalism and support for my professional needs as I was waiting for my Shires horn to be repaired. I am truly indebted to Ted Brown and will trust them with musical needs I may have in the future!

winnie: Fantastic experience as someone who is disabled! I was unsure if I'd be able to play an instrument again but Nat was incredibly patient, helpful, and made sure I was comfortable. Really went above and beyond, thank you all!Parking lot was big and looked accessible as well- hard to find in Seattle.

Carter: , and having it moved from their Tacoma store to Seattle for me to try out. I was given a private room with the cello to try as long as I needed. All in all, a happy customer. Thanks TBM!

Delanie Montoya: Ted Brown is awesome. I had an old clarinet that needed everything replaced and it came back to me looking brand new! The turnaround time was also fantastic! The staff is super friendly and helpful!

Michael Zou: got my first guitar here and am very happy, staff are friendly and helpful and their products seem to be quality as well. i never review stuff but this place was a standout

Catherine: Got a great beginner’s guitar lesson!

chloe mai: ive had a great experience here. the three times I have ruined my trumpet this year ted brown's repair guy Tim was always reliable, fast, super kind, and very reasonable! the last time, I totaled my bell and one of the spit valves. I went to another repair place that I've heard great things about, and they didn't even take a single look at my trumpet. they just told me that they were lined up with appointments until a month later and that it would be $100. So ofc I went back to Tim and he fixed the whole thing for only $25! I was back playing again the next day. This guy really goes above and beyond. he doesn't try to fool or trick u into thinking that the fix would be hard and costly. hes super honest and straightforward. Ted Brown will always be our go to repair shop from now on.

Will Gross: Very friendly staff.

Lawrence Fosnick Davis: The service is excellent and if they don't have something they are happy to get it transferred from another store. We were there for a tux shirt for band and they were great.

Joshua Lang: Great customer service and support.

william Field: They have a lot of acoustic & electric instruments, sheet music , lessons & practice rooms.

Cary Emens: Great music shop with very informative and helpful staff. A great musical instrument destination especially in these times where a lot of music stores are closed.

Raul Robles: Very happy with my experience here! Found most everything I needed for band/wind ensemble-related activities. Also had to get my instrument serviced, and the technician and people working there went above and beyond my expectations. 10/10 would recommend

Happy Minds School of Music: what do users think?

Natalia S: We cannot express enough how grateful we are to Lillian for her organizational role at HMSM, from registration to event and recital planning. She has demonstrated the best management skills and care for parents! We have always received timely reminders about upcoming lessons and events. Furthermore, our daughter's teacher, Natalia, has been the perfect match. We hope to find a similar school as we relocate to another state. Our daughter's piano skills have improved dramatically, from hands position to her passion for playing the piano. We will miss you forever! Parents, if you are looking for a place with the best piano teachers who can guide your children to success, you need to choose HMSM. Thank you, HMSM for that amazing year!

Darren Young: I've been playing here since the studio was open, and I can say that this place is amazing. The teachers here are super knowledgeable and they also are really good at teaching the information. As well, this place is really flexible about scheduling, so it was easy to find a time that worked for me. I would recommend this place for anyone of any skill levels because there is always someone here who is able to teach at that level.

F Tu: My son has been going to Happy Minds School of Music for music lessons for years. He really likes his teachers and Ms. Lillian Yang does a great job managing the school and teaching kids piano.

Minnie YAN: I started to learn Ukulele with Jeff recently. I not only improved my skills but also developed interests at songs that I usually don't listen. Jeff is great at teaching. He knows how to instruct effectively when I get stuck. Also he adjusts what to teach based on students' interest which is so important. The facility is cozy and always clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly. I really enjoy learning here.

Joyce Zheng: Being there for almost 3 years. Lillian is just the instructor we are looking for! We like the opportunities to perform which give the kid more confidence and joy by playing piano!

Eduardo Cheng: Good music school
