He was able to coordinate an initial visit within a day and provided an estimate within 24 hours. We had a lot of back and forth to go over the details of the estimate/contract, but that was all on me. I had lots of questions and Elliot was always so patient and I never had to wait long for a response. I was also getting other quotes using different roofing materials from Owens Corning and he agreed to redo his estimate using those same materials so that I could do an apples to apples comparison.Once we had sorted out the details, and I was looking at 3 different estimates, Elliot's cost was the lowest of the three. He was also willing to provide a payment plan that allowed us to extend our payments out 2 months. All of this added up to what felt like a great working relationship.We coordinated a start date, but adjusted because of the weather, and when the crew showed up to begin work, they were extremely kind and respectful. The work took a little longer than expected, in part because our roof has a lot of different, adjoining angles and overhangs, but also because there were 2 guys on the crew. A neighbor recently had their roof done and there was a crew of 8 people who got the job done in 2 days. With 2 guys, it took 6 full days of work. We didn't mind that it took a few days, especially with how wonderful everything looks, now that the work is done. They did an amazing job, and even patched up some holes that squirrels had made in the soffits. The team was always kind and when I checked in with them, they always provided an update on how things were going.I wholeheartedly recommend Elliot and Oasis Construction for your roofing needs in West Seattle. They were incredibly professional, provided fair estimates, and were a delight to work with. Highly recommend!

shirley bonney: Synapse did the siding and window installation on a three townhouse building back in 2019. I was very pleased with the service at the time, but even more impressed when I noticed that the hardi trim was bowing out. I hired a carpenter to repair one of them and he pointed out that the fasteners that were used were not the ones recommended. I called Synapse and they came to take a look and clarified that the fasteners that were used were the ones recommended in 2019, but the manufacturer had since changed the spec to require a fastener/screw with a head on it. While Synapse did not have any obligation to come and put additional fasteners with heads on, they did so without charge. I see this kind of response as what true professional companies do and I would recommend Synapse to anyone. I would have recommended them before this problem, but their response to the problem makes them a 10 star company in my experience.

Synapse helped us primarily with new siding for our home plus initial design, paint, several new windows, insulation and roof repair. The whole process could have been daunting but Synapse made it fairly easy and straight forward, from design all the way to paint and some needed roof repair at the end. We found everyone that worked at the company to be responsive, communicative, professional, and really helpful even with Covid and supply chain shortages and delays. We are thrilled with the final outcome. Our old 1909 house is finally restored.

The small bumps along the way had to do with administration/communication frustrations, but in general I found the team extremely professional and committed to quality work.I appreciated Kyle the very first time he came to look at the house, when he encouraged me to keep my old growth cedar shingles, explaining that I needed paint but not new siding. I hired Synapse to do some spot repairs. Unfortunately, an hour into the job, it was like a cliché of house construction—they found an unexpected second layer of siding under the shingles, and said they could no longer do the partial repairs without removing everything. So, with the siding gone from one side of my house, I had to decide whether to have the entire thing re-sided after all. The project almost tripled in price and number of weeks. Now, you always wonder when there’s a major switch like this, but I have no reason to mistrust them.Once I realized they were removing the old siding, it occurred to me it was a great opportunity to do earthquake retrofitting. Synapse worked with me to add in shear panels.I have nothing but good things to say about the crew itself. The foreman, Darren, was fabulous. He was careful, attentive to detail, reliable, thorough, and a pleasure to work with. Whenever he found something unexpected, or if there were a decision to make, he contacted me. Sometimes I heard him coaching a new guy in training, and he was a great teacher—overseeing everything, precise, kind. It’s clear Synapse takes care with hiring— I found the rest of the crew also knowledgeable and conscientious as well, a pleasure to have around.Aside from the somewhat shocking expansion of the job, my only less than glowing remarks have to do with communication with the office. There were times in the beginning as I was needing to make decisions that it was hard to get Kyle on the phone. I found the billing system extremely confusing—since there were so many change orders the invoices were especially hard to track. There were some little scheduling changes on the front and back end. From everything I’ve heard about contractors, however, this is normal, or much better than normal, and my experience was far better than most.The final thing to note is that their recommendation for a roofer was awful. Completely unprofessional, rude, and did poor work. No idea why they work with them, and I hope they have found a better company. It was completely out of sync with everything else I experienced from Synapse.In sum, I highly recommend Synapse. I believe they do quality work, hire a very well trained and professional staff, and are good people. It’s only been a few months, but so far everything looks great.
