Tamie Callahan: I started working with Sonja about two years ago. I'm 70 years old. My goal was to build upper arm strength and make sure I was steady on my feet. I did Sonja's intensive introduction course and then continued on for about a year and a half. Sonja is awesome. Her instincts are excellent with regard to the type of exercise I needed and how to make adjustments. Today I've got my own routine and go to my gym three times a week for a shorter workout. And I feel great. You can even feel the muscles in my arms, which I never had before. I highly recommend Sonja's program. For someone like me who was never interested in weight training before, Sonja was the perfect solution. I looked forward to going to the gym with her and still do. I will be forever grateful for her guidance. Is it intimidating for a 70 year old woman to join a gym with a bunch of young people? A little. But in the end, I was hoping that I could inspire them. You're never to old to learn how to take care of your body. Thank you, Sonja.

Coach Ro takes his time to support each individual during group fitness- he breaks down the movement pattern, makes individual adjustments, and is a great motivator. Becca Kretschman: I’ve come to this gym for over five years. As a former regular gym rat and cycle class person, this is a far superior experience, product, and community. I was super intimidated by CrossFit but Rohan and all of the coaches are so welcoming and knowledgeable. Any workout is adaptable for all body types, ability, and injury. I’ve even moved across the country and maintained my membership so I can attend classes virtually. The workouts are great, but the people are what really make this place special.

Soo Yi: I’ve been a member of this gym for about a year and absolutely love it! The coaches are great. I’ve always been active but was intimidated to focusing on lifting weights. Everyone is so friendly and there is a huge community here at this gym.

Suba Chandrasekaran: I highly recommend EBCF! I joined EBCF over a year ago as I was looking for a gym that would help me build a better fitness routine to become healthier and stronger. I have always been an active person as I love to do yoga, run, hike, etc., but never felt stronger when doing these activities. I would sign up for gym memberships that had all of the equipment you could ask for, but I never had a clear workout plan that helped me progress to the next level.EBCF changed that immediately as the programs are challenging and are focused on strengthening all areas of the body! The workouts can easily be modified or scaled if I didn’t feel comfortable and the coaches are very supportive in working with me to achieve my fitness goals. Evan Neubauer: I've been a member of EBCF for a few years, but I was completely blown away when, early in the pandemic shutdowns, Rohan and team moved their entire operation seamlessly online and haven't missed a day since. While we're all looking forward to being back in the gym in person, I have been able to stay more active than anyone I know because of the hard work of Rohan and the coaches at EBCF. I think anyone in Seattle interested in a solid fitness community should check them out.

Andria Hansen: I love the Elliott Bay Community Fitness at home workouts. They are relatively short but are high intensity which is perfect when trying to squeeze it in while the kiddos are napping. I like how every day is different and how the workouts are thoughtfully designed to work every part of your body throughout the week. I have been doing them for about a month and have already noticed changes in my body. My legs have never been stronger!

The instructors are fantastic -- focused on positivity, quality instruction, and modifying to meet individual goals and abilities. I had never even put on boxing gloves before, but found the vibe from staff and other participants to be super welcoming and supportive -- zero intimidation factor here!! The workout is well-rounded between strength and cardio, and it flies by with the floor/bag segments. I use these classes as cross training for long running races and mountaineering expeditions, and I have been extremely happy with what Rowdy has brought to my overall fitness. Can't say enough good things about my experience here. Strongly recommend to anyone who wants to try something new and add a bit of fun to their workout routine!

They make up some TOUGH workouts but also connect with the members to ensure there is good form and community during the time there.As we start back with COVID they are being very careful, safe, and smart about how workouts continue with all health standards being considered and enforced.Highly recommend checking this place out, once I tried it I never wanted to leave.

Jay Rudwall: As a transplant, discovering Accelerate has been one of my highlights since moving to Seattle. It really has everything you could ever want from a gym. Knowledgeable coaches, who get to know you and your body, push you, and offer modifications if you have an injury? Check. A clean and well-kept space with top-tier equipment? Absolutely. Elizabeth Kakos: Accelerate is the best! The different class formats give you a great balance of strength and cardio training throughout the week. The coaches are knowledgeable and program well thought out workouts. They will definitely push you and challenge you, but will never push you beyond what you are comfortable with. They give great feedback to ensure that you are preventing injury and getting the most out of the work you are putting in, and they are happy to modify if needed. Last but certainly not least, is the amazing community. Accelerate members are the most fun, competitive, and hardworking group around. I wouldn’t want to train anywhere else!

I used to only do cardio but have noticed a huge difference in adding in regular strength classes. I also feel much more confident lifting thanks to all the coaching on form-the coaches take the time to meet you where you are at and are so encouraging. Can’t recommend this gym enough!

Ashley Edwards: While it may feel intimidating at first, please don't let that deter you. Accelerate is the absolute best workout I've ever experienced. I constantly find that I'm challenged in new ways, never hitting a plateau, always working towards something new. And while many class-style workouts can sometimes feel isolating, this is by far the best community out there. Cheering one another on through strength, classic, and especially maximum output days -- these are my people and I'm so so SO happy to have found this place.

Rosalie Corrigan: I have been to quite a few gyms in the area and accelerate goes above and beyond any others I have tried out. Brandon and the team have the best programming with the perfect mix of conditioning and strength. I never lifted before joining accelerate and can feel the difference adding in heavy weights has done for my overall power and endurance. The coaches give such great cues and tips on form so even if you are new to certain exercises they make sure you are doing it safely. The community at accelerate is also incredible. I always leave the gym feeling stronger from the workout and happier because of the encouraging and hard working people around me. It’s an amazing workout that leaves you exhausted yet always wanting to come back for more. Definitely check it out!

Three different class formats all help develop fitness, boost endurance, and build strength. Classes often feature a team element, encouraging interacting with the fun community of members. I've gotten stronger, fitter, and made some cool friends along the way. Definitely recommend checking out this gym!

Daren Bell: program that is the perfect mix of strength training, HIIT and cardio training. Not to mention the awesome Accelerate community they have built. This place has been an absolute game changer for me. After suffering through a severe back injury December 2018, I needed something to kick start my fitness regiment again. I started Accelerate in April of this year and I can honestly say that I am now in the best shape of my life. 15lbs lighter, more endurance than I have ever had, and my back issues and other problem areas are essentially a thing of the past. The Accelerate family has welcomed me with open arms, and there is no other gym I will work out in. I'm all in.P.S. MOT

Lindsay Griffin: I’ve been going to Academy Athletics for over 3 years now and absolutely love it! Highly recommend if you are looking for a group fitness class. The classes themselves have a great mix of cardio and strength training. There is a nice variety of equipment in the gym and no two days are identical so you’ll never get bored of the workout.The trainers and Lionel are all super supportive, kind and helpful. They’ll help correct your form, create modifications if you need it and push you to do your best. It’s a fun and friendly environment with a mix of people at different fitness levels. If you are looking to get in shape or stay physically active you should definitely check out Academy Athletics!

Madhukar Murali: I completed the 6-week challenge and won! Lionel's meal plan along with the quick 45 minute workout's are a beautiful combination to start your fitness journey. Taking a session here will be your highlight of the day!The workouts are Tabata style High Intensity Interval workouts. The first 6 weeks are an amazing journey that will make you realize how simple it is to achieve your fitness goals! A meal plan is devised for your individual needs with a recipe list. And of course, Lionel is available to answer any questions you might have with regards to it. I can personally vouch for the 6 weeks challenge - I went from 14% body fat to close to 12% and developed strength along the way.I can go on and on why Academy is one of the best places for you to join - not just for the workout aspect, but for feeling positive too! Do it! Just do it!

Bilal Ali: I have nothing but great things to say about Academy Athletics. Lionel and the other trainers bring a ton of energy and passion, and the workouts are really efficient. Each class is only about 40 minutes which makes them really convenient for busy weekdays.

Lindsay Jarrell: Lionel has changed my entire mentality when it comes to working out, nutrition and lifestyle. When I signed up for Academy Athletics it was my hail mary. I had tried numerous other programs that were not realistic to maintain or I gained all the weight back. Lionel changed all that with education and support. You have access to ask questions and he is very responsive and gives you enough info to be making educated decisions on your own by the end of the program. I felt like the odds were stacked against me, being postpartum, post covid & a few medical barriers, but the program worked & I have been continuing to use the tools Lionel taught me since the program ended and have maintained my weight loss and lifestyle. Mo Nasr: I have started training with Wolfgang for 3 weeks now.Wolfgang has been a great coach. he is very attentive during workouts and have helped me with helpful feedback to slowly fix the muscle imbalance and to be able muscle isolation during workouts. He came up with a custom plan for my goals and has provided interesting and fun cardio plans than just using the treadmill.

Bo: I had Keanu as my personal trainer. He is very kind and patience. I would highly recommend this gym and have him as a personal trainer. I will tag my friends about this.

But the best part of the gym is the trainers. My trainer Rachel challenges me, encourages me, and keeps me motivated to do more. The few times I had a substitute, the fill-ins were great too.I never thought I would find myself in a weight lifting gym. But the people at Transform 180 made me feel like one of the team.

Yi Chiang: Great location and amenities! I had a great time as a member of this gym; often taking advantage of the salt water pool and indoor basketball court.The equipment here has definitely seen better days and I eventually transitioned to another gym since that was more important in my book.The crowd here definitely caters more towards the older crowd, which was not ideal for me. However, If you’re looking for a place with many amenities and a great staff, look no further… I couldn’t recommend this place and its staff anymore if lifting isn’t your top priority.

Bradley Patton: For the past few months, I've been a member of this gym, and I can't rave about it enough! With its wide variety of amenities, this gym really distinguishes out from the competition, which is why I joined with no hesitation. There are a few interesting things about this place, including the fact that it's never crowded and the personnel, especially Lucky. My recommendation of this gym to friends has been aided by their encouragement.

Michael Schimke: My renewed enthusiasm in working out can be attributed to my new employment. A SAC membership is a health benefit provided by my employer. Jacob Visoky: Visiting from out of town for a work conference, and did four classes. Highly recommend coming to this gym. The workouts are easy to follow and aren’t too intense if you have never done CrossFit before. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

I like this style alot but may not be for everyone.

Edward: It would be remiss to not compliment this gym. I was able to experience this gym thru the day pass and it immediately got me sold to the gym’s amenities. As you can see from my photos, it is a jack of all trades kind of gym. It would try to satisfy all your curiosity depending on the type of workout you feel like doing.Not only that; my experience with staff was amazing. Liz gave me a tour of the place and even accommodated my needs in regard to making sure I was aware I can come in throughout the whole day even when I leave and decide come back.It has my needs in terms of strength training. They have 45s, 35s, 25s 15s, 10s, all the way to 1.25lbs.I was able to fine tune my workout for the day.I have high praises for this gym. If I lived in Seattle and work downtown, I would be a member in this gym in a heartbeat.Notice that it isn’t busy as well? This was on a Saturday.

Dana Cretu: UPDATE: I've seen the company take great strides in the light of recent events and commend their forward thinking to keep everyone safe and healthy. They were amongst the first of many companies to offer creative solutions to protecting the continued health and safety of their clients and staff, offering live remote classes at home, keeping us informed via email, and detailing what steps they were taking to deep clean and sterilize the facility. They've shown that they are proactive rather than reactive, and I wanted to give my thanks.Previous-For location and convenience, zum currently works for us. The people here are friendly, staff and gym goers alike, but there have been too many upkeep issues lately that have really gotten to my partner and I. Namely, the cleanliness of the facility in whole, the poor quality of the towels, the state of the products in the locker room, and other minor things. They have replaced a few machines and added a cold towel mini fridge, but these don't make up for what needs to be changed and upkept - especially the mats and towels. It's also uncommonly warm in this gym, winter and summer alike.

Dylan Rush: Great gym for the variety of equipment and free classes. They have monkey bars, rowing machines, climbing and warrior ropes in addition to all the equipment one would normally expect. Not too difficult to get a squat rack or bench press even at peak hours. My one complaint is that I never attended the classes, and the classes were right next to the cardio equipment and pretty loud and would always happen right around 5/6 pm. But sometimes trainers would play good music so whatever. Locker rooms were pretty clean. Decent sauna. Overall good value.

Markus Eng: A great gym for those who value the diversity of fitness and training methods. Yoga, martial arts, boxing and Pilates are some of the many practices here.

Julia Hlavacik: I hate the gym, but I love this gym. The owners care about their gym-goers and will learn your name before your free week is over. They learn what works for you and what doesn’t and help you modify. This isn’t a gym with a lot of frills, but they do have some frills that count like a clean locker room and free-to-use mats in the yoga studio. I didn’t like that I had to commit to a certain amount of time when I signed up because my job comes with some chance of relocation, but they have a reasonable cancellation policy if you move more than 50 miles away. It didn’t end up mattering because of my job and I have not wanted to cancel for any other reason either. I’ll be coming back as long as I live in Seattle. The coaches and members were welcoming and made me feel comfortable. I now drop in a couple times a month. The workouts are always challenging, but the skilled coaches can modify the workout to fit your needs. The atmosphere is supportive and the space is well laid out. If I lived in Seattle I would certainly be a full time member. Working out at Riot is always a highlight of my trips.

Helen Yamamoto: I was new to barre when I tried the studio and found the instructors and environment to be super welcoming. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and know their anatomy well, which is great for getting fine-tuned adjustments during class. I'd still be taking classes if I hadn't been forced to move back to CA!

Marketa Novakova: Love Pure Barre! I do the online/virtual classes, and I love the flexibility. You don't really need any equipment, but weights and some bands help get a better workout. I have been to in person classes before, but online classes allow for a busy schedule and can be easily tailored to home. I like that teachers are very positive, encouraging and also share modifications. I think they have figured out a great way to do virtual classes!

Susannah Major: I love this studio! Each instructor I’ve had is patient, encouraging, and very skilled in providing hands on adjustments to target the intended muscle group. This full body work out is the perfect option for my cross training to keep me injury free as a runner. Keep up the great work, Pure Barre Queen Anne!!

Chelsea Palmer: I was super, super on the fence about barre, but then I took a class at Pure Barre and now I'm hooked. I had an amazing instructor who was super helpful during the whole thing and the workout itself is challenging, fun, and worthwhile.

The class sessions are led by instructors who deliver dialogue that is easy to follow, offers safe alignment cues and alternative asana positions to increase or decrease intensity.

Lee Kindell: Wow. Unexpected! I hesitantly went thinking 50 bucks is a bit much for one visit , after the experience, I realized how wrong I was. Walking through the door is entering what you’d imagine a place that is supposed to transport you , to be, from decor to custom scented space and calm environment. The cleanliness is a solid “10” The “ Docent” , the one who tends to you is well trained , friendly and knowledgeable. It was a fully customizable experience . I did not realize how distracted I was in a regular yoga class , vs being focused solely on myself and the instructor . This is the FUTURE of wellness , I highly recommend at least trying it once . You’ll probably change your mind , just like I did . Peace!

I was running 5 minutes late due to not being able to find the location. I walked in the door frazzled and stress. I was welcomed in by Elizabeth who immediately put me at ease. She welcomed me in with the warmest energy. The session was like no other. Your completely immersed into your meditation. I was able to silence my mind and focus with no distractions. When the session ended i took a session and was able to relax and unwind in the comfort of my own studio. After the session ended i walked back up front and was given some recommendations from Elizabeth for my next visit after i told her my experience and what i wanted the next time i came in. I’m 100% coming back. I’m so grateful that i found this place, it truly felt like my sanctuary.

Robert Hopt: I have been working out here since fall 2019. The staff is very friendly and they take care to demonstrate good form through the variety of motions and exercises. Every trainer is worthwhile. They will gladly customize their programming and planning to meet your level of experience, your comfort, and/or any aches and pains or other concerns you may have. The space is large, unlike some other nearby gyms that have group classes where the members are way too close to be safe. My experience is mostly the group classes, but based on classes I have taken where I happened to be the only one on the schedule, I presume that the one-on-one personal training is also high quality.

Ashwin Krishnamoorthy: Belltown strength and conditioning classes are a total game changer for me. Having done only cardio exercises all my life, I was eased into the world of strength and conditioning by focusing on fundamentals of barbell and kettlebell on recurring weekly schedules. The trainers- Tony, Adrienne, Melissa and Ollie have been very helpful in my strengthening journey. Their attention to movements and coaching during the sessions have enabled me to exercise correctly by watching over my form. I look forward to the unique monthly challenges they post at the start of the month!

As long as you're using all of the benefits, the cost is *well* worth it.Nothing but great things to say about Rival. The gym has a great vibe, the staff is great, and I feel like I'm actually making strides on my fitness goals now.

The energy in this place is always great. I tried all the other gyms in the area before coming to Rival and they really do not compare. It was a a no brainer the moment I walked in.

Kareem Ali: I started at Rival fitness with the strength squad which helped me learn lifting with good technique, introduced me to friendly people, and helped me go through some rough times since that was right after I moved to Seattle when things were under COVID restrictions, so the place means a lot to me personally. That was over 3 years ago, since then I have been a regular, 4-7 times a week, mostly very early mornings, the owner, the staff, trainers and trainees are very friendly, there is a lot of free weights as well as machines and I have done some powerlifting training, bodybuilding training, cardio, fitness classes, cycling classes, rowing class and a few other things so I think it’s a VERY well-rounded gym where you can find equipment and classes for most training modalities. The one thing I do not like would be when they do group classes on the gym main floor that takes roughly half the space, making it hard for anybody to train during those times.It’s definitely my favorite boutique gym in Seattle, 100% would recommend.
