I had a few off putting experiences with agencies in Los Angeles and this really put me off to applying with one again, until I found Starling and Diane. She explained how they worked and it was her response to my question about my sister in law that really brought it home. My sister in law is a single mother of two, one is too young for school yet so she has been stuck at her job for years, because she needs a job, but she can't afford child care. So, she has stuck to working at this childcare facitity that will care for her son, so she can work. The treatment and pay there is not good and I told Diane this. She explained that there are placements/families that will accept nannies with "babe in tow" and explained that this is what the company was built upon, that concept, with people like my sister in law in mind.Women, mothers and caregivers in general, are commonly thought of as people who took an easy path, that what we do for a living, which is raising, good and wonderful human beings, is not work. I say this because I have heard people talk about nannies and stay at home mothers, like their life is one long vacation and requires no hard work.
