Working out with a trainer in a larger gym always caused some discomfort, not to mention all the machines or free weights felt overwhelming. Eventually I would fizzle out in the spaces because I never felt comfortable or I would see others and compare my progress to theirs and feel overwhelmed and lose motivation.
When I initially visited Local Fit, I was happy to see it was a smaller, more intimate space. It felt approachable and peaceful, like a really nice at home gym, with all the essentials. During the initial consultation, we spoke through my goals, my preferred availability, and available trainers. Immediately the prospect of working with Yevhenii seemed like a great fit and our availability aligned perfectly.
Over the last few months I was able to get started and within a short period of time could feel the genuine results. Yevhenii explains the motions, what they are targeting, and gives alternatives or variations based on my needs/ability. I feel comfortable in the gym and also really motivated because I can make progress in my own time.
I absolutely recommend this space to anyone who has felt that same intimidation at other gyms and wants to start of progress their fitness journey. I also highly recommend Yevhenii, as his approach is fantastic and whether you’re starting back at day 1, like me, or a more advanced athlete, his knowledge of various workouts and motions can meet you where you are.

Liam Blodgett (L Blo): up to at least 32kg, floorspace to train ballistic KB movements and get-ups, open gym hours between 6:30-8:00am, permission to use chalk and train barefoot or in socks, a high bar for dead hangs and pull-ups.Three days in, Pro Fit is meeting my requirements at a fair price, and the staff has been helpful and courteous. My only request would be for a second 24kg bell in the class space, and/or a pair of them in the gym turf area.

Ian Hong: .It is well-equipped, always clean, and the staff and regulars are friendly. This is not an expansive gym, but in addition to the cardio equipment, it has racks, a smith machine, leg press, cable and plate-loaded machines, barbells and dumbbells, and benches. Even for those who are quite serious about their workouts, the equipment should be more than enough to get a great session in. Signup and cancellation were both very painless. Overall, I'd highly recommend this gym.

חוה כץ: I started working out at NW about a year ago and I love it. It’s a welcoming place, you can tell they love what they do and they are experts at what they do. There’s a strong community feeling a lot of care for the progression of each person training. Cannot recommend it enough.

Paul Shen: Outstanding gym! We visited while on vacation in Seattle and we will definitely come again on our next trip!Accessibility: Easily accessible, their scheduling app makes picking a workout, time, and payment very easy. It took me less than 5 minutes, very impressed for a non-corporate gym. They had so many class options and times available I had no excuse not to workout. The facility is located on a corner and you can’t miss it, well lit and with lots of lockers and storage areas plus showers if you need them.Workout: Our regular gym is a strength and CrossFit gym and we fit right in. The Strength and Muscle classes we attended met the same needs we work regularly. Kyle is an awesome coach and spent the whole hour moving between all the attendees and assisting with form and modifications to meet each persons needs. The scalability of each exercise meant my wife and I each got a strenuous and worth while workout. They used a huge variety of strength options including kettlebells, TRX, dumbbells, barbells, and calisthenics+plyometrics. Awesome workout.Staff: As stated above, expertly friendly and helpful. From our first time popping in to inquire about drop in availability, to our last class they were a real high light of the experience. Extraordinarily friendly and approachable. They helped us pick out the best options for our schedule and get set up quickly with no hassle.Facility: Modern equipment that is well maintained. Clean, and well laid out. They had equipment I hadn’t seen at larger gyms including weight scaling options that you really have to look for if you want them, such as clip on weights for intermediate settings.

Sarah Prentice: This is the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. There’s a variety of exercises built into each group training class, so you’ll never be bored or without a challenge. The trainers provide a perfect balance of encouraging you to do what feels right for your body, but also pushing yourself to discover what you’re capable of. greg bear: , kinetic exercise / body-weight exercise, banded stuff like you'd do in PT, etc. There's new movements added all the time, keeping it very fresh. It's light on traditional cardio - which is great - strength training is much harder to do on your own I think w/o a good coach watching.There are personal trainers available also, but I've really enjoyed the small group training. Classes are kept small, never more than 10 people, so are getting technique adjustments and personal attention, help with weight selections, mods if needed. I'm always sore, but recoveries are quick - they don't let me overdo it - and also don't let me underdo it

Kacie Stovall: I have been attending the 8x/month small group training classes since 2021. The work outs are so thoughtfully curated and the small class sizes ensure the trainer is able to assist each individual, no matter their skill level. I usually attend Kyle's classes and the high level of expertise is obvious. He knows exactly why one exercise is paired with another and the benefit of each small variation in movement. Even the warm ups and cool downs change daily to match the movements performed. More than that, they care about your safety and your progress. Both Matt and Kyle, regardless of who is leading the class, will often assist me with correcting my form or choosing an appropriate weight that challenges me. I would recommend this gym for absolutely anyone!

I’m incredibly grateful for his work on solving my chronic knee pain that 5 years, 3 physical therapists, and 2 other personal trainers could not!A small thing that could make this facility even better is allowing trainers to reserve squat racks for their client sessions. I hired Dylan specifically to work on squats and there were a couple times the gym was so busy we couldn’t get a rack.

However, in all the dozens of glowing reviews that Nev has accumulated here, I see only a few mentions of the nutrition aspect of her training, so I figure I'll provide some more details here.Nev's nutrition philosophy, as I understand it, has a few key points:1. Management of blood sugar. You don't want your blood sugar spiking and crashing throughout the day. High glycemic index foods are discouraged.2. Disciplined timing of meals. Meals are deliberately spaced apart; snacking is strictly limited; no eating after 6pm.3. Balanced macros. Every meal will have a protein, a carb, and a salad. Portion sizes are adjusted based on your goals and the results you're seeing.4. Clean foods. Nev is highly skeptical of processed foods, food additives, and so forth. She can also be picky about methods of preparation

Vinh Le: I've been working with Nev on and off for over a decade. I still do reach out to train with her whenever I need a bit of motivation. She taught me lot about how exercise and diet go together, and use that knowledge to reach my fitness goals.I've never been a a fan of exercise/fitness, but Nev's positive approach to training really makes it fun and motivating to where i actually look forward to my workouts. Nev has always been so understanding, accommodating, and positive with us, and has graciously worked with my crazy schedule on night shift to meet with us once a week. She incorporates cardio, stretching, and weights in all of our workouts, and a little yoga too, so we definitely get a lot of variety when we work out with her. The workouts are both challenging and intense, yet my joints feel fantastic during and after each session. The facility itself, situated in a cool, classic building in Capitol Hill Seattle, is unlike any other. With separate and private workout rooms, it's like having four or five gyms under one roof. Tamie Callahan: I started working with Sonja about two years ago. I'm 70 years old. My goal was to build upper arm strength and make sure I was steady on my feet. I did Sonja's intensive introduction course and then continued on for about a year and a half. Sonja is awesome. Her instincts are excellent with regard to the type of exercise I needed and how to make adjustments. Today I've got my own routine and go to my gym three times a week for a shorter workout. And I feel great. You can even feel the muscles in my arms, which I never had before. I highly recommend Sonja's program. For someone like me who was never interested in weight training before, Sonja was the perfect solution. I looked forward to going to the gym with her and still do. I will be forever grateful for her guidance. Is it intimidating for a 70 year old woman to join a gym with a bunch of young people? A little. But in the end, I was hoping that I could inspire them. You're never to old to learn how to take care of your body. Thank you, Sonja.

Mo Nasr: I have started training with Wolfgang for 3 weeks now.Wolfgang has been a great coach. he is very attentive during workouts and have helped me with helpful feedback to slowly fix the muscle imbalance and to be able muscle isolation during workouts. He came up with a custom plan for my goals and has provided interesting and fun cardio plans than just using the treadmill.

Bo: I had Keanu as my personal trainer. He is very kind and patience. I would highly recommend this gym and have him as a personal trainer. I will tag my friends about this.

Carol Wiederrecht: I am a 66-year old client of the Belltown branch of Transform 180. It’s an outstanding place to get strong.The equipment is great, and a good variety so you’ll never get bored. But the best part of the gym is the trainers. My trainer Rachel challenges me, encourages me, and keeps me motivated to do more. The few times I had a substitute, the fill-ins were great too.I never thought I would find myself in a weight lifting gym. But the people at Transform 180 made me feel like one of the team.

P G: Started training a few weeks ago with Keng at the Belltown location. Very good experience of training and learning new techniques to get stronger. Every training session leaves me feeling more energetic and motivated. Friendly staff and great ambience.

Andrei Anashkin: Where to begin? I’ve been training at Transform 180 for a year and half, and I couldn’t have asked for a better personal training experience. The facilities are superb, a large variety of equipment for targeted exercises. David Lemphers: ZUM is amazing. The layout, equipment, staff and facilities are top notch. If you’re downtown and need a friendly, top notch gym you have to come here.

Edward: It would be remiss to not compliment this gym. I was able to experience this gym thru the day pass and it immediately got me sold to the gym’s amenities. As you can see from my photos, it is a jack of all trades kind of gym. It would try to satisfy all your curiosity depending on the type of workout you feel like doing.Not only that; my experience with staff was amazing. Liz gave me a tour of the place and even accommodated my needs in regard to making sure I was aware I can come in throughout the whole day even when I leave and decide come back.It has my needs in terms of strength training. They have 45s, 35s, 25s 15s, 10s, all the way to 1.25lbs.I was able to fine tune my workout for the day.I have high praises for this gym. If I lived in Seattle and work downtown, I would be a member in this gym in a heartbeat.Notice that it isn’t busy as well? This was on a Saturday.

The gym has a good range of equipment and enough space to ensure everyone can get a good workout, whether they are using free weights, machines or doing classes. Highly recommended

Joe is the nicest dude you’ll meet, and working with Zach has changed my whole approach to fitness.It looks like it’s closed from the outside, but I assure you it’s anything but. A little later hours during the week would be nice, but apart from that this gym is - in my view - perfect. A total unicorn.

Jan Nis: Worked out here twice while I was in the city. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Equipment is clean and new. Gym itself wasn’t crowded which I liked very much. Will def. come here again next time. 1st time trial, 2nd time $30 for the day.

Dana Cretu: UPDATE: I've seen the company take great strides in the light of recent events and commend their forward thinking to keep everyone safe and healthy. They were amongst the first of many companies to offer creative solutions to protecting the continued health and safety of their clients and staff, offering live remote classes at home, keeping us informed via email, and detailing what steps they were taking to deep clean and sterilize the facility. They've shown that they are proactive rather than reactive, and I wanted to give my thanks.Previous-For location and convenience, zum currently works for us. The people here are friendly, staff and gym goers alike, but there have been too many upkeep issues lately that have really gotten to my partner and I. Namely, the cleanliness of the facility in whole, the poor quality of the towels, the state of the products in the locker room, and other minor things. They have replaced a few machines and added a cold towel mini fridge, but these don't make up for what needs to be changed and upkept - especially the mats and towels. It's also uncommonly warm in this gym, winter and summer alike.

Dylan Rush: Great gym for the variety of equipment and free classes. They have monkey bars, rowing machines, climbing and warrior ropes in addition to all the equipment one would normally expect. Not too difficult to get a squat rack or bench press even at peak hours. My one complaint is that I never attended the classes, and the classes were right next to the cardio equipment and pretty loud and would always happen right around 5/6 pm. But sometimes trainers would play good music so whatever. Locker rooms were pretty clean. Decent sauna. Overall good value.

Markus Eng: A great gym for those who value the diversity of fitness and training methods. Yoga, martial arts, boxing and Pilates are some of the many practices here.

Julia Hlavacik: I hate the gym, but I love this gym. The owners care about their gym-goers and will learn your name before your free week is over. They learn what works for you and what doesn’t and help you modify. This isn’t a gym with a lot of frills, but they do have some frills that count like a clean locker room and free-to-use mats in the yoga studio. I didn’t like that I had to commit to a certain amount of time when I signed up because my job comes with some chance of relocation, but they have a reasonable cancellation policy if you move more than 50 miles away. It didn’t end up mattering because of my job and I have not wanted to cancel for any other reason either. I’ll be coming back as long as I live in Seattle. Special thanks to Joe and Derek for all of their work with me!

Andrea Naert: I started at Kettlebility in 2015, joining a Body Transformation Challenge. It was 12 weeks of exercise and nutritional coaching. I lost weight, gained strength and flexibility. Because of the detailed training provided to the coaches and trainers, every exercise can be tailored to the individual student. This means that at all times, I was doing exercise that was right for MY body, working on perfect form and safety for MY fitness level. I was never, and never have been, in competition with any other student in the studio. My sense accomplishment in my progress remains a great source of pride.More important than fitness, though, is the community that the coaches and trainers have built for the students. I've joined and eventually dropped out of many gyms, exercise and diet programs because there was no sense of continuity, no sense of belonging or acceptance. I'm really happy being a part of the work being done in the studio.

Teri Franklin: If you want to get strong and feel better, this is how you do it. Terrific program combining strength training, nutrition, and mindset, and it works! I work with Hami, and he is motivational, focused on teaching you the right way to lift heavy weights, and makes it fun in the process. After just a few months, I am noticing a big difference in all areas of my life--I feel stronger, my posture is better, and my other activities, hiking and running, are much easier.

Yi Chiang: Great location and amenities! I had a great time as a member of this gym; often taking advantage of the salt water pool and indoor basketball court.The equipment here has definitely seen better days and I eventually transitioned to another gym since that was more important in my book.The crowd here definitely caters more towards the older crowd, which was not ideal for me. However, If you’re looking for a place with many amenities and a great staff, look no further… I couldn’t recommend this place and its staff anymore if lifting isn’t your top priority.

Bradley Patton: For the past few months, I've been a member of this gym, and I can't rave about it enough! With its wide variety of amenities, this gym really distinguishes out from the competition, which is why I joined with no hesitation. There are a few interesting things about this place, including the fact that it's never crowded and the personnel, especially Lucky. My recommendation of this gym to friends has been aided by their encouragement.

Michael Schimke: My renewed enthusiasm in working out can be attributed to my new employment. A SAC membership is a health benefit provided by my employer. I just finished my first week of exercise, and while I'm a little sore, it's in a nice manner. I adore everything I'm learning from the incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming personnel here.

Ofc it could always be better with better furniture, better lockers, better atmosphere, better whatever but it does the job, it has a ton of various cardio equipment, lots of weights, various classes and can't beat the location. I do think the enrollment fee is a scam especially given how outdated this place is but i didn't have a choice. The pool is outdated and short in length [20 yards] but it is the only one available in this area so i appreciate it. Staff so far has been nice.

I kept going back for more because of their alluring flavors and melt-in-your-mouth textures, which were a pleasant surprise. I gladly brought 12 irreplaceable treasures home because it appeared like everyone in this wonderful city couldn't get enough, making my time in Texas very memorable.

Parking can be free, depending on the time. a first-rate spa and a friendly staff. No issues. This place is fantastic. I wholeheartedly urge everyone to join Seattle Athletic Club!

This local gym is perfect for any fitness fanatic because it has pleasant staff and no loud music to keep us from exercising. Lawrence Fosnick Davis: Lots to do here. Classes of all sorts, 2 swimming pools, sauna, steam rooms, personal training, circuit training, weight room and lots more! They have child care tooThe new addition opened up and is a nice space to do a variety of exercises.New classroom for exercise added bringing the total to three and a ton of new classes!Also, 2 pools, hot tub, sauna and steam room.

Robin Bajra: Local establishment that been around for a long time, keep keeping on. Least amount of the riff raff in any other gym in the Seattle area that I notice, raise the rates please to keep that going, lol.

Matt Coleman: It's a treat to go the gym here. It's nicely appointed and generally not crowded.

Levi West (W&BM): Went and tried a 3 day pass and did a yoga class. Ended up really liking the yoga class and the staff and trainers I met we're all welcoming and same with the members that I worked out with.

Noah Taylor: Fremont Health Club is a phenomenal gym. I previously went to the LA fitness in Ballard however it was always over crowded and chaotic. FHC has a much better workout environment and never feels too crowded. They recently added some premium equipment making this already great gym even better. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful, I highly recommend joining this gym.

Greg Mushen: I love this place. I’ve been a member of other gyms in the neighborhood, and this place is my favorite. There’s a great selection of equipment, a sauna, and there’s rarely a wait for any of the equipment.

I ended up going in a different direction, but only because I practice hardstyle kettlebells and have very specific equipment requirements, which FHC did not meet.Overall this seemed like a great facility for the average gym-goer: welcoming to all types, conveniently located, with well priced and flexible membership options. Taylor at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and kind over the phone and in person. Star employee.

Anton Shenk: My experience with this gym has been nothing short of fantastic — the facility is meticulously well-kept and stocked with any equipment you’d need for both cardio and strength training. Despite its popularity, it never feels crowded or overwhelming, thanks to the abundance of available machines and workout space.What truly sets this gym apart, however, is its people. The instructors are incredibly kind and always eager to provide individualized support. Their encouragement and guidance have made a world of difference in my fitness journey. Furthermore, the owner's generosity with membership policies is genuinely commendable and has made it possible for my entire family to enjoy the benefits of this amazing facility. I can't recommend this gym highly enough — I don’t ever write reviews, but it's truly a five-star establishment.

Haily Holt: , classes 2x per week, and occasionally going in on active rest days for light cardio. As long as you're using all of the benefits, the cost is *well* worth it.Nothing but great things to say about Rival. The gym has a great vibe, the staff is great, and I feel like I'm actually making strides on my fitness goals now.

The staff is wonderful, trainers are knowledgeable and authentic, the facility is always clean, and it’s rarely “too” busy like most gyms can be.Overall, this is the most welcoming gym I have ever been to. The energy in this place is always great. I tried all the other gyms in the area before coming to Rival and they really do not compare. It was a a no brainer the moment I walked in.

Kareem Ali: I started at Rival fitness with the strength squad which helped me learn lifting with good technique, introduced me to friendly people, and helped me go through some rough times since that was right after I moved to Seattle when things were under COVID restrictions, so the place means a lot to me personally. That was over 3 years ago, since then I have been a regular, 4-7 times a week, mostly very early mornings, the owner, the staff, trainers and trainees are very friendly, there is a lot of free weights as well as machines and I have done some powerlifting training, bodybuilding training, cardio, fitness classes, cycling classes, rowing class and a few other things so I think it’s a VERY well-rounded gym where you can find equipment and classes for most training modalities. The one thing I do not like would be when they do group classes on the gym main floor that takes roughly half the space, making it hard for anybody to train during those times.It’s definitely my favorite boutique gym in Seattle, 100% would recommend.
