Swing It Seattle: what do users think?

Reece Bredl: Intuitive and fun lessons. Engaged and flexible teachers. Queer friendly. A great way to learn to swing dance.

Dion Horn: I have been having the time of my life taking Lindy Hop dance classes at Swing It Seattle for the past few years and I encourage anyone from beginner to advanced dancers to come check out what they have to offer. I have an extensive background in dance and have taken from many different dance teachers, and I am so impressed at how the teachers at Swing It Seattle make dance fun and accessible to people of all different levels. They create an environment of inclusivity for all. It is an uplifting experience for your mind, body and spirit!

Anna Beers: Swing It Seattle is amazing -- both their classes and their social dances. The Queer Lindy series is a particular draw, with amazing teachers and a great community. I've learned so much in so little time, and already made so many friends through the classes.

Bex Foresman: The Queer Swing Seattle class is DELIGHTFUL.Approachable for beginners, engaging for more experienced dancers, the instructors are kind & knowledgeable, and the students/crowd it draws are really friendly. There are social dances on Wed & Sat nights, too, so you can practice & grow your dancing community.Definitely worth the cost, I'm so glad I joined & plan on going back.

Mary Whitney Thomas: Swing It Seattle is a great place to start or continue your Lindy Hop dancing journey! I started with no prior experience and have learned enough to be comfortable with social dancing in just a few months. Classes are taught in a fun, relaxed way and have a good balance of leads/follows. Instructors Mark and Katie are fun and enthusiastic teachers!

Amy Law: This is a super-welcoming and socially responsible dance community. Mark, Katie, Taylor and Travis are all encouraging and patient instructors who don't just make things look easy, they help students conceptualize the moves in natural ways so it feels easy too. Whether you're starting out with Lindy 1, sharpening your skills with Balboa 3, or attending a Swing-it live music social dance, know that you're walking into a room of people who want to help you have fun and feel successful.

Jake Brintzenhofe: SO MUCH FUN. You can spend $100 covering most of the check for dinner, or you can use it on 5 weeks of classes where you'll have a good time, meet new people, and learn to dance.I'm through the intro class and so excited to take more classes!

Jack Sexton: My wife and I had a great experience learning swing for our first dance. Mark was able to take us from almost no experience to us getting compliments from our friends at the wedding. Thank you Swing It Seattle!!

Myra Tishkoff: and starting as a beginner

Graham Mills: I've been taking classes with Mark and Katie off and on for 13 years, and they are hands down the best teachers in Seattle by far. They create a fantastic environment to learn in, filled with positive energy, inclusion, humor, and safety. The lessons are broken down into easy to understand steps, and are covered at just the right pace to ensure you feel comfortable before taking on the next awesome move. When you take a class or go to a social dance at Swing It, you're getting introduced to the entire Swing It community, which is simply the best. It is filled with support, joy, friendship, and life long memories, not to mention some killer dance moves. Can't recommend this place enough.

Cliff Hamal: I’ve stumbled through swing classes here and elsewhere. Mark is very good. Very. One particular thing I appreciate A LOT is that he works into the lessons intervals with vagaries where the lead actually needs to lead. For me, this is hard. If one takes a lesson where both dancers are learning some steps, great, but often this skips over the need to LEAD through the steps because both know what’s coming. You look good in class, and then fail on the dance floor. Mark integrates leading in a very low key, but vital, way.

Koby Wilbanks: . Mark helps you understand the patterns of the dance and how moves fit together without getting too hypothetical or complicated. I never felt overwhelmed, but I always felt a positive encouragement to get outside my comfort zone. It is a pleasure to learn from someone as passionate and knowledgeable as Mark - you can tell he loves introducing his students to the joy of dance.I started with private dance lessons and then moved to the group class. I recommend trying both - private lessons give you the space to get comfortable without pressure and ask specific questions, but the group lessons help you learn from other students and get used to dancing with different partners.

Lauren Burke: We've tried other swing classes but Mark and Katie's classes are the first ones we've experienced where the music is really front and center. They are excellent teachers who make sure their students experience the fun and history of Lindy hop in a very encouraging environment. They have built a wonderful community of dancers and we are excited to have found them!

Veena Vijai: I’m now on my fourth series of Lindy Hop lessons with Mark and Katie. They are fabulous teachers who break down and scaffold complicated concepts in a way that’s easy to understand, and also makes for a supremely enjoyable experience as their student. In addition to their impressive technique, they emphasize being guided by “feeling” and knowing “how this feels” which has helped me develop a sense of intuition/responsiveness as a follower. It has allowed me to experience and have fun dancing with complete strangers as we “feel” our way through this common vocabulary, that has been imparted to us with the utmost care by Mark and Katie. This is altogether novel for me since I have no prior dance education/background.Watching them dance together is captivating and I hope to attain a fraction of their level of skill someday! You could not possibly ask for better teachers or a more welcoming and supportive environment to learn swing dancing.

P Parker: are delightful and kind and super skilled; their dancing and teaching are magical. The sense of belonging and joy for queer community is powerful. The stories and history connection to the lineage of Lindy Hop and its original dancers and teachers is beautiful and really unique from what I understand. The social dances are a blast, and I loved the workshop taught by a guest teacher recently.I go as often as I can -- and have felt welcomed in ways I didn't even know I longed to be welcomed. It has been such a sweet place for me to connect to myself as a dancer -- and to feel connection in community.

V L: Great instructors who make learning fun and easy to understand. Getting to classes from the Eastside is sometimes difficult but worth it, so much so I’ve signed up for more classes.

sima haddadin: My month at Swing It Seattle was an absolute joy! The warmth and friendliness from everyone made me feel instantly at home. Mark & Katie took the time to connect with us, making the experience feel personalized and encouraging.I loved the opportunity to switch between lead and follow in the Lindy 1&2 classes and Queer Lindy on Thursdays. I enjoyed the playful Lindy 3 & Charleston series.. It was all so addictive and the dancers created a supportive environment where we celebrated each other's progress. If you're seeking a dance studio that's more than just dance – a place where you'll grow and feel like you are part of a community – I highly recommend Swing It Seattle. Can't wait to return!Thank you Mark, Katie, Adam & Bradley!Cheers

Century Ballroom: what do users think?

Patrick H: Fun and very well priced and very progressive with lots of people.

J Vince: Great venue for queer and others dancing. It is a fun space to host your next event, be it dancing, a concert, or something else. Staff is friendly.

Xin Yun Tea: Love the social and bachata classes as well as socials

Greg Bray: Nice big ballroom, plenty of floor to get your dance on.

Bidzina Kevkhishvili: Very welcoming class for everyone at different levels. You must check it out!

Andrada Tonu:

Nicole Olson: Century Ballroom is Wonderful. I love all of the instructors, the classes, the socials, the tin table, the environment encouraged and maintained by instructors and students alike. Parking around the area is sometimes difficult, but the Capitol Hill light rail station is nearby! It's a nice area, very walkable, and it's lovely to open the windows in the ballroom to get fresh air. Great people, great drinks, great classes and a great environment!

Swing Dance SCT: what do users think?

Ryan Kratt: I love this swing dance community! It's welcoming, warm, and supportive, with great live music nights each month ❤️

Emma Kelly: . The scene is welcoming and the teachers are both incredibly skilled and approachable. I also love that they do an amateur jazz jam night—it's a great opportunity for dancers and musicians alike!

Polina Tamarina: . if you’re thinking of trying swing dancing, this is the community to start your journey.

Mayo: Intimate and welcoming space for all kinds of dances!

Hanzi Meng: How can you listen to this music without tapping your feet?

Grace Chang: Amazing place to learn Lindy Hop! My husband and I just happened past the studio since it is close to our house…little did we know that we would be taking class with world class instructors and joining a welcoming and inclusive community. If you’re at all curious about learning swing, check out their intro classes on Saturday nights at 8:30pm before social dance at 9:00. We started dancing in January and we’re still going strong. Going to SCT has been the best thing we have done all year!

Last Grunt Standing: Was surprised by the fact that they got me to dance successfully. I am genetically predisposed to two-left-feetism but they got me through it!

Morrigan H.: I had an absolutely amazing time and would definitely go again! Great people, great introductory lesson for beginners, and good atmosphere all around.

Jack Swiggett: I have danced and taken lessons at just about every swing dance venue in Seattle, and SCT is top notch. The instructors here really care, both about providing high quality instruction and about building a community and introducing new people to dancing. They are also some of the best dancers in the scene and have won major awards all around the country. The dances are very welcoming and the live music and jam sessions are super fun. You don't need a partner or any dancing experience to get started. Highly recommend!

Julia Stack: I wanted to try a new thing and was happy to come across Lindy Hop. I have a really random background with dance and no experience with swing dance so it was nice to find a studio that offers several levels of swing dance classes. I started with a series of 4 beginner Lindy lessons. I've since joined a team with weekly practices and I can really tell I'm getting better with a great group of people. It's nice to be able to learn more as I become more comfortable with it and there are several levels of team practice to progress though if you want.No need to bring a partner since there's always someone to dance with. For the classes and lessons you rotate partners anyway and get to learn some of both roles.Jazz music is so much fun to dance to and Lindy Hop so bouncy the combination just seems to makes you happy. The instructors also are great about introducing the art form of Lindy Hop as a foundational Black American dance. History is more than just the names of early Black musicians and dancers and it's great to learn more.

Akshay Singhvi: Great place to learn swing dance with a focus on skill and technique. You will find teachers and students you can easily relate with. I have taken classes in several spots across Seattle and this is my top choice.

Rachel Zuraek: so there's truly something for every level.

John Le: The studio has a great community, classes, social dances, and amazing teachers for swing! Community: friendly, fun, supportiveclasses: technical and detailed. a wide range of levels to meet you where ever you are in your dancing.social dances: great DJs, fun live music events, amazing dancers! So much fun!teachers: so knowledgeable, kind, and engaged. I’m grateful for this studio, and I don’t know what else I can say, it’s my favorite place to learn to dance.

Gladys Pearl Hitt: I love taking swing dance/lindy hop lessons here. The culture is very welcoming, especially for beginners, and it’s such a solid community of dancers. The instructors are fantastic with extensive professional experience and a wealth of knowledge to share. Definitely check it out for anyone interested in learning/honing your partner dancing, or if you just wanna have fun social dancing!

Becca Liggett: I have been taking Lindy Hop classes at this studio for the last year and have been so impressed by the instructors and community that they have built here. In my experience, not all great dancers are great dance teachers, but that could not be farther from the truth at SCT. Ben, Elaine, and Stefan are so great at breaking down the details of each movement and helping people of all levels to improve. The Saturday night social is also my favorite in town! If you’re thinking about getting involved with swing dancing, do it here!!

Chris: They have weekly socials, beginner classes, and swing teams. It's an excellent place for beginners like myself to improve their dancing.

Lou Daprile: Best place in town to learn Lindy Hop, hands down. Especially safe for women, femmes, queers and anyone that doesn't fit the normal "swing dance mold," this community works to make sure everyone feels like they can take up space. This dance studio attracts the highest level dancers in town, so the teams are top tear and the socials are hopping. If your a beginner there is no better place to learn, they teach you the foundations in a way that will help you be a great social dancer!!

Chloe Wang: Swing SCT is without a doubt one of my favorite Lindy Hop venues. It offers classes from the best teachers and fun socials every Saturday. The place itself is modern and well-maintained, perfect for dancers to learn and practice!

Arthur Murray North Seattle Dance Studio: what do users think?

Maggie Stapleton: . We had such a wonderful experience! We both consider ourselves *not dancers,* but the folks at Arthur Murray really helped us build our confidence and style as a couple. We got to work with multiple different instructors throughout the course of ~1 year, which had its pros and cons for sure. However, everyone was very friendly and took the time to get to know us. They really tailored the dance to what we wanted and felt comfortable with. We even got to do a mock first dance at the Arthur Murray Friday night dance party about a month before our wedding, and everyone there was so kind and supportive. Ultimately, our choreography came out fantastic! Our wedding guests were all talking about how smooth, confident, and professional we looked…someone even said we should go on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Brittany Allen: My Fiancé and I took dance lessons for our wedding and had a fantastic time! Fong had a great sense of humor and was super patient with us. He not only taught us a dance for our wedding but we also learned numerous other dance styles. Great experience!

Elliott Jacobsen-Watts: Learning to dance in front of strangers can be intimidating, but Fong and the crew at Arthur Murray North Seattle were extremely supportive. We learned our wedding dance here and enjoyed two showcases. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking to learn or continue dancing - they offer classes and party nights. Thank you all again!

Mark Smith: Great dance teachers who make it easy and fun to learn to dance.

Dieu-Hien Hoang: I signed up not knowing anything about the studio or the Arthur Murray's name. To my surprise, I found a welcoming community. The instructors are not just good dancers, they are wonderful teachers. Kind, patient, welcoming, encouraging. During Friday night parties, they make sure everyone gets to dance. I feel sorry that they have to dance with an absolute beginner like me but grateful for the opportunity to learn, practice, and stay active. Alex, Anita, and Benny, you're the best. Fung and Stephanie, you've done something right hiring these amazing teachers/dancers. Likewise, the dance students are kind, patient, welcoming, and encouraging. I feel privileged to have known you. I highly recommend the Arthur Murray North Seattle Dance Studio.

Lily Eng: Been taking lessons for five years. Had nothing but positive experiences. Instructors all friendly, positive, patient, and excellent at what they do.

Noli Navaluna: My wife and I wanted to take a few dance lessons so we can dance better during parties and then stop. After several years, we are still dancing. The teachers are great and very friendly. We just have so much fun that we keep on coming. I highly recommend the Arthur Murray North Seattle Dance Studio.

Henry Herfindahl: I bought a few lessons for my wife and myself several years ago, and we just kept going. I had no idea how much I'd enjoy it. Fong and Stephenie are excellent teachers, both challenging and patient. The studio is a friendly and welcoming dance community.

Chris Ramos: Fong, Stephenie, and Nikki are the absolute best!! They are not only great dancers, but are even better instructors. They know how to motivate and encourage their students to gain self-confidence and become successful dancers. The group lessons and dance parties are positively fantastic events! Everyday is a tremendous experience!

Larry Cole: studios . This is a small, personal studio, with great attention and focus provided by the staff. The combination of individual, couples, and group lessons worked very well for us.

Al Adams: Great staff! Fong and Stephanie are fantastic! They are both very talented dancers and excellent teachers. I would highly recommend the North Seattle Arthur Murray Dance studio to anyone who wants to learn how to dance and have fun.

Kathy Cole: AMNS always delivers great instruction with personal attention and plenty of laughs!

Saebre Winn-Lark: On a whim I signed up for Ballroom Dance classes, and it is the best decision I've made in a long while. All the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about all the dances, plus their learning track allows you to learn more than 1 at once if you like!

American Dance Institute Greenwood: what do users think?

Jennifer Mendelson: My teenager and I have had a wonderful experience taking adult beginning ballet at ADI in Greenwood. Gifted teacher, sweet students, welcoming studio. Couldn't be better! We are having a great time!

Brenna Pink Pampena: We love American Dance Institute. My daughter has been taking classes here for many years. She started in ballet, but is now in modern and hip hop. The teachers are fantastic. Dedicated and talented. I highly recommend this studio.

Laura Ingrao: Great spot for adult dance classes! I love that it’s one of the few spots that offers shuffling classes. I wish more people knew about them having shuffle so there could be more advanced sessions as well as the beginner.

Louisa Peck: I enjoyed ballet classes at ADI way back in the 1980s when I took my body's abilities for granted, but I also returned there in my 50s to revive my skills. The atmosphere was perfect for me. I got encouragement and expert guidance, but what I most remember is my excitement when a teacher told me I belonged in the intermediate class! I hope to go back to ADI in my 60s and try some jazz dance.

Jessica & Tyler Bidwell: My daughter and I both take classes here and we love it. Pearla is a great teacher and I am so glad I signed up for her class. She radiates positivity and made learning so easy. Definitely will take more classes in the future.

Brianna Duda: I love this studio! The teachers are great, the students are friendly, and the atmosphere is so inclusive. Highly recommend.

Pearl White: Just took a contemporary class with Angie, and I was just so impressed with how welcoming of a space it was. She is by far one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She teaches a TRUE beginners class. All too often I see teachers moving too quickly in beginner classes or assuming students have dance background and know terminology. Angie starts from the very beginning. Very impressed.

Cynthia Spalding: The ballet classes for adults are great. Wonderful teachers, good studio spaces, relaxed but mindful atmosphere, friendly attitudes. A bit expensive, but worth it. Victoria at Greenwood is great, patient, informative, and inspirational!

Randy Decker: The class i attended was fantastic. The instructor was great to work with. Everyone at the school has been great to deal with. Highly recommend ADI Greenwood to anyone looking to learn to dance.

Tan Chen: My daughter Naomi loves the Irish dance class she had over the years! Janelle and Elizabeth are great dance educators and it has been a great experience for Naomi.

Zenee Helmstetler: I loved my adult tap dancing class!! Really great experience, would love to take another class in the future!

Anne Heskel: Fantastic local dance studio that offers a great variety of classes for all ages and ability. Instructors are kind and focused on teaching while having fun.

H L: ADI is the place to go for adult dancers! Whether it is your first class ever or 100th class, it is a no-judgement, positive, no pressure environment. Classes are SO fun and go at a pace that is easy to follow! I've tried other dance studios and they were very stressful.

Megan Marshman: Wonderful studio. Excellent instruction that empowers and encourages but also inspires you to improve. I loved every class!
