Jennifer Evans: This is the best bike shop in town. Knowledgeable mechanics who don't try to get you to spend more than needed but who know how to keep an older bike functioning well. They also know about old and vintage bikes and work thoughtfully to maintain those as well. We have recently had all of our bikes repaired and/or tuned up there, riding one bike in and picking up the finished one. I love this shop.

Come here to get some knowledge, fix your bike and meet some cool folks in the biking community. Used bikes are available for sale.

Nickolaus Fuerstenberg: I visited The Bikery to fix up my brakes and add a bike rack and basket to my bike, and I was warmly greeted by Aaron, one of the volunteers who works there. I shared with Aaron the things I intended to work on, and indicated that I was not quite sure what to do, and he said "no problem, I'm happy to help you out. Let's have a look." I learned several great tips for adjusting brakes, learned about how to lube my shifters, and with Aaron's help to find a spacer part to make the bike rack fit over my disk brakes, got the bike rake and basket on as well. The vibe felt very warm and folks felt like community -- everyone was working on their own thing, often using used parts and shared tools. I would go here again just to work on my bike in good company.

Andrew Gomez IV: I had engine trouble with my vintage '70 Honda CT90. Most shops will not work on older bikes. But they made an exception for me. This was a hard one to pin down what was wrong. Took it to them once and they fixed it up and ran well but after having it back for a couple of weeks it reverted to its bad performance. SUB took it back without hesitation. rechecked all their work from the previous visit, and found there was some additional electrical issue they didn't catch before. Only charged me for the new work done. Runs great now. Would like to go back to them for everything now, which I hope is not anytime soon!
James Michael: Right about December 1 of this year I walked into SUB asking for a favor. I wanted to lease the vacant lot next to them . Dave the Owner was not sure at first but said yes. As the weeks went by I could tell Dave ran a tight ship from his sales men to the guys in back. Customer satisfaction is what I saw not worried about the dollar bill. Dave and his shop are above reproach from a guy who had never been In his shop nor new that it was even there. So many times I heard are you happy can I do anything else for you.let me know. A true shop that actually cares about people and not just sales.

He has helped me find unusual and limited availability parts, and helped me run through the warranty process for parts with manufacturing defects.I had a mechanical concern with the used bike I purchased here, and they were quick to remedy that problem even with a used bike sale.I will continue to be a customer at SUB as long as I ride! John Valentine: I worked with SUB to sell my 2020 Z900 and the process was flawless. They inspected, detailed and listed the bike within a day or two of getting it to them and within a month, it was sold at asking price. Very reasonable cost and would absolutely sell and buy with them again.

Everyone was welcoming and took some time to bring my attention to a few things that need replacing down the road. Very fast turnaround and competitive pricing.I'll definitely be back for service in the future, and maybe to pick up a nicer bike eventually! SUB has one of the best assortments of your dream used motorcycles I've ever seen in one place; we're talking Ducati, MV Augusta, and even a 6-cylinder Honda CB..! Great people, highly recommended.

They never fail to have the random little part I need for a build, and when my partner needed a new shorter seatpost they proposed sawing the existing one to the right length and did it right then & there in 5 min. Blaire Ziegan: David helped me throughout my whole bike buying process. I knew absolutely nothing about bikes and he was patient and answered all my “dumb” questions. I didn’t end up finding my perfect bike at their store. But, when I wanted new tires for the bike I did up buying from FB marketplace I knew I wanted to give them my patronage.David again helped me pick out the best tires for my particular case. He finished the work within the hour.The next day I needed a few other necessary bike accessories like a helmet and light - Chris helped me find a good helmet and gave me some more knowledge on bike mechanics.These two people made my experience as a novice biker that hasn’t ridden since childhood a 10/10.If you need help you’ll be in good hands with them!

Brian Caine: Awesome and unique shop with a huge selection of used parts and very knowledgeable mechanics. I had a bent quick release skewer and they were able to replace it with a used one in under a minute for $8. The mechanic also gave me some great advice on how to tension my leather saddle and sold me a used brooks spanner for just a couple bucks.
Alex Schaefer: My fender had come off partway, and I know these guys are patient, friendly and helpful- and they don’t condescend. Came in for help and they had the spacer I needed to reattach it, adjusted it for me, and sent me on my way. A great neighborhood bike shop.

I had a puncture about a mile from here - I rolled in they immediately took my bike back, threw it on the stand, helped clean up the tubless gunk, cleaned and inflated the tire, gave some tips for future diy repair, all with a smile. Matt Lucas: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for purchasing bikes and gear and also for service and repair. I have purchased my last three bikes here and have been very happy with the purchases and purchasing experience. BUT, I am even more impressed with the Service Department. Chad has work on my bikes a few times and has done a stellar job. He is a great bike mechanic and is always very fair with pricing. I have also has Chris work on my bike before and he also did a fabulous job. If you need service, repairs or upgrades on your bike, this is a great place to go.

Michael Wehling: Jason helped me today with a complex problem finding the correct set of parts and solution for updating an older bike. I was amazed at the level of effort he put into multiple parts queries finding the one compatible rear hub that would work for the conversion.He also deliberated thoughtfully considering the complexity of the conversion and walked through all the components needed double checking several times that I was ordering the correct parts and not overlooking anything.In addition to that, he thought about the end result and took the time to explain the options and limitations of the direction I was going and suggested substituting a slightly higher count chainring for better results.Exceptional excellence and a gem of a resource to keep bikes rolling in West Seattle.

Michael Robinson: Saved the day! I was riding my fat bike on Alki Beach today and my crank arm fell off. I walked it several miles to the shop and got there about 30 minutes before closing. They hooked me up with a new crank arm at a reasonable price and put it on my bike and had me on the road again in less than 15 minutes. Quality service, highly recommended!

They completely re-furbed my 10 year old Trek, and didn't even laugh at me when I came back the day I picked it up because I'd forgotten how to shift properly. I have been trying to figure out how to convert my bike trailer into a ski chariot for my dog, so I could bring her cross country skiing. Burley sells a ski kit for this very purpose, but the trailer compatible with it is pretty pricey. I’ve been brainstorming creative solutions so I could use my trailer, but I’m not very mechanical. I took my trailer and the ski kit to Rat City, crossing my fingers that they’d be up for the project. Shannon was very kind, patient, and figured out a great solution for me! Another bike shop told me it was out of their expertise because I had a coaster brake. I brought my bike here and Aaron said "There's nothing wrong with it, I just greased it up." I guess I have to grease my brake. I didn't know that, and neither did the other shop. Riding my bike now, I noticed they even made adjustments to my front brake as well.I was charged a very fair price for a little bit of work and a lot of expertise.

Sep: I am so glad I can go to my neighborhood bike shop for quick repairs and updates to my bike. I just walked in got a seat, went home and started to try to put the seat on... got seriously confused and came right back, lol. The shop owner was super helpful and kind and put the seat on for me. And he helped me pump my tires, adjusted my brakes and put on a cool little license plate for me. Thank you so much for your help!!!
John Paredes: Aaron provided great and clear communication when I needed a bike shipped to his shop from Brooklyn. Service on the bike was prompt and as described. Excellent customer service that you don’t find much anymore.
Gabriel Kettler: Stopped in with a bent bike axle. Owner/bike mechanic smacked the axle straight in about two seconds. Handed me a few really cool stickers and sent me on my way. I'll definitely be going to Rat City Bikes for any of my bike needs.
Eric Montanye: New to the immediate area and was directed that Rat City Bicycle was the place to go. I brought my first bike in expecting to drop off and gear back days later, however that was not the case. I rolled it in and was told “give me 10 minutes and I’ll help you out” - I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! Bike fixed, & for a fair price! Aaron knows what he is talking about and will get you set.6/5 stars - never going anywhere else

Hannah Jette: Purchased a brand new set of skies, boots and snow gear yesterday. I wasn’t planning on purchasing a whole new set but they had an awesome selection and a few really key items on sale for the end of the season. Dave was so helpful and patient setting me up! I’ll for sure be back.

Christopher Gu: Recently purchased a bike off of FB marketplace and needed to have it checked up as well as a tune up. The staff took my bike in for a few days and gave it back in tip-top shape! They were also super helpful and knowledgeable about what needed to be done and how I should be taking care of various parts. In the end, they mentioned my bike was already pretty tuned up and only charged me for the items they replaced/fixed. Will definitely be coming back for any bike service needs!
Adam Farhan: Super friendly and helpful staff. Traded in some golf clubs and walked out with a Ping G410 3 Wood. Couldn’t be happier. Small golf selection, but there were very high quality, barley used clubs. Ping, Titleist, Taylor Made.
Tim Van Harmelen: This is not in a location that we would typically frequent being from Lynden. But, when we saw online that they had a new baseball bat in stock that we had been looking for, we decided to give it a try. We called ahead to make sure the bat was in fact in stock. The guy that answered the phone was clearly busy but still took the time to look for it. When he couldn't find it, he explained that he was in the middle of helping another customer but would be happy to call me back if I wanted. We decided to stop by and found the bat we were looking for. We were impressed with the selection of both new and used items. Including the latest high-end youth baseball bats. In store the employees were once again very busy helping other customers, but just as pleasant and helpful as on the phone.
Nicole Marie: Extremely helpful staff, and surprising amount of new snowboarding boots! Went to REI first, and they only had one pair of snowboarding boots in my husbands size available. Play it again was just down the street, and we were pleasantly surprised by all the options! They also have a better return policy is an Evo, but not as good as REI.
Jay Desai: Was looking for binding disc and this was the only shop with Burton reflex 4x4. Great shop, customer service.
